Anyone watching the GOP debate tonight?

The undercard was pretty tame. Besides a couple of quips here and there, it was kinda underwhelming

Fiorina and Jindal had some good points.

Graham seems hellbent on sending US tropps back to Iraq and elsewhere :Oh crap

Overall, it felt like watching an undercard match waiting for Pacquiao's main event :)

mineistaken 08-06-2015 03:48 PM

No Trump?

L-Pink 08-06-2015 03:53 PM

Internet link? I don't get fox news.

I'll just watch the highlights after the fact. Until they start picking the nominees I'm not too interested.

I watch it on Skycable here in the Philippines.

Great news network coverage: they have BBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Fox, etc.

ClaireMonroe 08-06-2015 04:29 PM

I didn't know it was on. I guess I'll go find it. Something else to do while doing mindless blogging.

CDSmith 08-06-2015 04:34 PM

You mean the Retrumplican debate. Yes, I'll be watching.

Right after the other must-see event of the summer, the eviction of either Clay or Shelli on Big Brother.

Forum was oozing about Trump's appearance, yet it seems he did not appear at all :1orglaugh

i was surprised, there were quite a few comments this set of candidates made about Trump in one way or another.

he's in the group that debates in about an hour from now, Trumpdebate will be trending very soon! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I wonder if he'll have some HIGHLY QUOTABLE quips. Since this is THE Donald we're talking about it's almost GAH RON TEED (Cajun accent)

Jindal said something very interesting that caught a lot of people's attention: Immigration without Assimilation is an Invasion.

Very interesting summation. Kind of a slap in the face of the Western focus on multiculturalism that's been the paradigm for the past 50 years (starting with the immigration act of 1965)

Mr Pheer 08-06-2015 04:52 PM

I dont have to watch it. I'll have plenty of threads to read about it here on the GFY News Network.

So you're saying GFY is like a Twitter feed, bro? :winkwink::1orglaugh:thumbsup

TampaToker 08-06-2015 04:56 PM

First debate was boring as hell. Graham was hawkish as hell and Perry looked funny trying to look all serious.

Carly Fiorina made a comment about Trump and his celebrity status. I don't know why but i hear a comment coming from Trump saying "your fired" oh wait you already heard that before haven't you"

:1orglaugh

Battle of the Fruitcakes? I wouldn't miss it.

Can't wait to see Trump unleash the big guns...which is what will happen every time he knows nothing about specific foreign affairs or domestic policy. Which will be almost 100% of the debate.

But what are these guys going to debate? Who will be better at discriminating minorities, women and immigrants? They all think alike.

Let me ask you something since you seem to be so much smarter than everyone else (being a Democrat and all)... what exactly does ANYBODY know that's a big mystery about "foreign affairs" or "domestic policy"?

Are you trying to say that Pres. Obama was an expert in these matters when he took office?
Or for that matter...what does ANY Pres. ever have in the way of expertise in those matters?
If they are all such geniuses at it...then WHY are we in the position we find ourselves in?

Dude...Trump is a guy with real money and an actual worldwide business. He deals with foreign countries around the world daily. He is traveling to foreign countries running his business constantly.

If we want to stop being a nation constantly at war with the rest of the world, then maybe it would be a good idea to get a guy in there who isn't beholden to the giant military complex or special interests.

There is a reason that Fox News and the Republican Party are trying everything they can think of to stop him...because he MIGHT actually be someone who could do things for the betterment of the country as opposed to being yet one more clown politician/bureaucrat who has no knowledge of the real world at all.

I understand that you are a Democrat Party loyalist and hate Republicans.
In that, we share one thing: Hating Republicans.
But I also hate fucking Democrats. (I'm speaking of politicians, not citizens such as yourself)

They are one and the same thing whether you are too caught up in your "team sport" of politics to realize it.

Trump is different. And so far he's made a fool of people like you who have tried to knock him.

I'm gonna watch the debate tonight and hopefully the moderators won't use it as a "gotcha" platform on him. I think the guy should be given the chance to say what he intends to do and let the voters decide.

So far all I keep hearing the media say over and over is that he has no "specificity". Why aren't they asking that of any other candidate? NONE of them have given any specific plan.
They are too scared to because they know it would hurt them in the general election (including Queen Hillary).

But for some reason only Trump is being asked for minutia on his plans.

Let's see...there's only ONE guy in the whole race who isn't some piece of shit politician. Who isn't asking for any contributions (where is all the talk of campaign finance reform now?). Who doesn't owe anybody a damn thing.

How about opening your eyes and actually listening to what he says instead of trying to THINK you know before it even happens.

L-Pink 08-06-2015 05:59 PM

Nothing live online except radio, fuck!

dyna mo 08-06-2015 06:31 PM

jeez, it's the perfect platform for gotcha media reporting

it's all gotcha setup questions.

the rosy odonell quip by Trump was fucking perfect.

CDSmith 08-06-2015 06:36 PM

Was the first debate even worth watching?

Last week I predicted more people will tune in to this (top 10) debate than any other in history, and for one reason only, that being Trump. Time to find out if the figures prove me right, or a precognitive charlatan.

I'm saying he won't be able to discuss anything in depth because he only knows phrases like "I make more money than you", etc.

and Trump is just a plain piece of shit.

Who wants to see any one these fucking jerkoffs in the oval office? They're up there discussing the existence of a blob of cells like it's the only thing anyone cares about.

and as far "being on team" goes....It's not that I like democrats so much, but at least they're not the party with old world views who discriminate and inject religion into everything. They really are the worst people.

Keep in mind when these guys talk about doing away with "common core" in education, it's code words for teaching creationism in schools and religion over science..

Jeb Bush seems to be the only one whom gets that, perhaps Trump as well as I assume he's not a Relgious nutter like the others.. Too bad Bush weasels around coming out and saying that..

Robbie, exactly what is Trump saying? He has no specifics whatsoever. Just saying he's going to take care of business means nothing. He has no plan, just bluster.

Debates should be either random questions to random participants, or the same question to all. Current system is biased and no no.
