Run your own ad server (ad rotator) for just $5/month
If you need better control of ads on your sites you can install and use Revive Ad Server (formerly known as OpenX, formerly known as phpAdsNew...). Since Revive (OpenX) can be a resource hog it's considered a good practice to run it on a separate server so it doesn't affect the performance of your site.
For my adserver I used $5/month DigitalOcean VPS + Ubuntu + nginx + mysql (LEMP) + Revive AdServer + GeoIP module and it works just great! Ads are served quick and Revive admin is super fast! Here are some screenshots: This month stats Last month stats Today's hourly stats Stats per site Stats advertiser DigitalOcean VPS is perfectly stable and the load is really low. It could take much more traffic than this: DigitalOcean load in past 24h DigitalOcean load in past month DigitalOcean load in past year This setup can be useful for rotating ads on your sites and for GeoTargeting specific ads to specific countries or regions. Also you can use this to sell ads on your site and have the full stats so advertisers can track the performance of their ads etc... If anyone is interested in a setup like this feel free to contact me: celebempire /at/ gmail |
PhpAdsNew used to be the absolute bomb.......

looking forward to implement something like that. |
I just implemented this, thanks HomerSimpson.
Funny thing is I wasted some time troubleshooting and realized I had adblocker on... :Oh crap Just use digitaloceans one-click application install with LAMP or even with phpmyadmin installed. I had some trouble figured out where the passwords were for the preinstalled versions, just log into the console through the droplet menu, it'll give the message the first time you log in. I'm upset, they recently required the 2nd VPS plan for one-click wordpress installs, I'm guessing because people were going crazy on making wordpress blogs on fast cheap SSD VPS's. |

Nice to see threads like these on GFY again!
I've always loved Revive also, though I've always spent quite a bit more monthly to run it with it being such a resource hog. So some good info there on DigitalOcean. :thumbsup If you guys need some solid offers to run in your new ad space make sure to hit me up! |

My setup works pretty fine. Here's a $5 dollar DigitalOcean droplet pushing ~2.5 million impressions a day without any performance issues: http://i.imgur.com/lWBqqkf.png |
