What do you do when you take a mental health day?
What's your most relaxing thing to do? Aside from a vacation.
|
take a what day? mental health day?
|
It used to be correcting people's spelling, but now that I see the other thread, maybe I'll stop with that.
j/k, LOL! I watch a LOT of sports on tv, but actually NOT work, or do anything else at the same time. {Usually while working I'll have sports or whatever on tv, and 1/2 assed pay attention to it, LOL!}. |

{Supplement to my previous post: I also stay away from GFY! LOL!} |

The staff in white coats decides that.

Haven't had any luck having a full day. I have to at least check my emails and some stats etc.
I just try not to think of my self as 'in work mode' on that day. Also I mentally eradicate guilt of not being productive |

the most relaxing things for me are my true, serious hobbies. learning to play the guitar is a great way to get out of my head but still be thinking/focusing/learning. I find I'm very refreshed, clear-headed, optimistic, etc. after my practices. even when I might not have made my goal(s) for that session or whatever. from what i've read here that you've posted, you seem to have a variety of interests and such, so i'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know about a good hobby. |

I am not a good drinker. I puke for HOURSSSSSS. Maybe tonight I'll try a few shots. Fuck it. |

Thank you so much for that little tidbit. That's probably a better plan than drinking. |

For me a mental health day means staying AWAY from a computer. Problem is, we have smart phones now so we literally take our computers everywhere with us. And I cannot be completely cut-off from life so I bring my phone and the challenge becomes not to look at it every ten minutes. LOL
Go to the movies, take a walk in the park, take a day trip somewhere, go for a long drive, go shopping at a mall or (better yet) flea market or fair. Just get OUT and AWAY from all these damn SCREENS and you will feel better. :) |

I think for me life has just been so active and hectic and I'm looking for a corner to hide in for some just quiet time. Eh, it's probably just fucking PMS. |
i hate taking a day off. its stresses me out thinking about all the shit i am not getting done. i don't like feeling that way as i am also missing out on other things when i am working. the closest i came to taking a day off in years was when my son was born but even then...still checked email. we're all hamsters spinning round and round.

Once you complete those three things that actually matter, your mind will be able to relax and recharge for the next day where you can be more productive and efficient because you aren't spazzing out thinking you need to be clicking the mouse button every three minutes. I had three things on my To Do list today. One is done. About to knock out the second. Cool as a cucumber. |

What the fuck is a mental health day? If you need to take a mental health day it means your mother breast fed you way too long.

I do a marathon binge session and watch "Faces of Death" 1, 2, 3, and 4.
I just feel vibrant and alive after and ready to face the world once again. :thumbsup |

I wish they'd stop pussifying mental illness.
I'd do charity work, but all the organizations have got the same language thing going on. |
Run. Play. Exercise. Pizza and cold beers. Bike. Go to the lake. Swim. Have sex. Repeat. More pizza, more beer. Play with our cats. Go shopping / Buy my love a little present, buy myself a bigger present.

I went shopping, played with the dogs AND played my flute. (will come back to the guitar or banjo) Too cold and windy for outdoor activities really or yep, I would have probably taken the horse for a ride. Hopefully this week. This little girl makes giggle at least. http://i62.tinypic.com/m31op.jpg |

Home | Mind, the mental health charity - help for mental health problems It's all very caring and sharing, and the fonts used certainly suggest that. But I think it encourages a softness among service users, when the reality of living with mental illness is hard. So I can totally understand the opinions in this thread (and elsewhere on the forum), that people with mental health problems are basically soft in the head. I envy the straight-ahead business folk on here who've never had to deal with this shit. I guess I'm just frustrated that I haven't found what I'm looking for :) |

Not into anything other than weed. I tried shrooms for the first time ever last year and all I could think was - don't look in the mirror or some poltergeist stuff is gonna happen. I'm not a good person for trippin probably. |

I don't have any actual mental health issues, it's just a term here when life is overwhelming and you need to shut down from the rest of the shit and reconnect with your divine self. At least that's my definition of it lol. |

I dunno what the rest of yous are talking about. Mental health day is like a spa day or something? Seems important to keep your mind strong, cope with stress and prevent stroke. (it's like a heart attack for your brain!) |
