Dixie Chick Dumb ass
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (March 14) - The Dixie Chicks are drawing harsh words from country music fans for remarks singer Natalie Maines made about President Bush during a recent performance in London.
Maines told the audience earlier this week, ``Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.'' Angry phone calls flooded Nashville radio station WKDF-FM on Thursday, some calling for a boycott of the Texas trio's music. The group released a statement Thursday saying they have been overseas for several weeks and ``the anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost.'' In a separate statement Thursday, Maines said, ``I feel the president is ignoring the opinion of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration, and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view.'' The Dixie Chicks will kick off a U.S. tour in support of their multi-platinum album ``Home'' on May 1 in Greenville, South Carolina. The group's hits include ``Wide Open Spaces,'' ``Ready to Run'' and ``Landslide.'' 03/14/03 11:45 EST Copyright 2003 The Associated Press. :321GFY Oz |
Haha. I would wager that a good chunk of their fans are conservative. Way to piss off your fans!
|
That commie liberal media at it again. :1orglaugh
Speak out against authority, get attacked. Believe everything the government tells you and be a good robot, and you'll be fine. What a strange country this is becoming. |

That's fucking hilarious. They said Bush is embarrassing the United States. That's a fact. As I said, much of this country is going to the sheep. |
Quote:
However, probably not the smartest thing to say considering the average Dixie Chick customer probably voted for Bush. |
Who listens to the dixie chicks anyways
|
Quote:
A FACT? I get a good laugh everytime you open your mouth too. Keep posting bud!:thumbsup * what does "going to the sheep" mean? Slow down compose yourself so we all can understand what the heck you are saying...lol:winkwink: |

What a dumb fucking bitch. What does she think this is, a free country??? In all seriousness, who the fuck cares? She's only going to alienate her own audience, but if she doesn't care, good for her. |

The Ditzi Chicks are exercising their freedom of speech to criticize Bush, but if someone says The Ditzi Chicks are wrong and are boycotting their music, it's somehow not freedom of speech but is just a random attack that is somehow not allowed? |
Quote:
Do you think people spontaneously bursted into protests, without being told what they are supposed to be angry over and why? That would be like a Rush Limbaugh listener calling in and saying anything other than exactly what Rush just told them. If doesn't happen. Sheep. |
anyone with a conservative thought is a sheep, and every liberal is a free thinking genius. Get off that fucking kick already.
These celebrities need to learn to keep their fucking mouths shut. Having an informed opinion is one thing, but doing these drive by anti-american soundbytes is idiotic. They pretty much just killed their popularity and alienated most of their audiance. real smart. |

Would be just like Bowling for Columbine, except my version. Maybe I'll quit porn and become the opposite of Bill Maher (sp?). Oh wait, that would make me Rush, right? Yup. |

You're one of those idiots who's all for freedom of speech when you can bash someone but if someone says you're wrong, you run off crying about how freedom of speech is dead. |
Clear Channel, not fans, are the ones who decided to stop playing the Dixie Chicks. That is a fact. Fans complain about bands every day. Anyone who works in the music business can tell you how this works.
Under pressure from Clear Channel radio stations, the Dixie Chicks have already given in and apologized: http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,4...zesfor,00.html If Clear Channel refuses to play your music, you are dead in the American music market. If you criticize Bush, Clear Channel may stop playing your music and you are fucked That's your idea of free speech? Big corporations given near monopolies on the public airwaves who decide what oppinions are allowed to be aired and which ones aren't? This is not about a boycott by fans, it's about big corporations deciding that this anti-government opinion does not fit into their relationship with the government, who they rely on for regulatory approval to exand their business. |

I'll take the title sheep over liberal any day of the week... Liberals are pseudo intellectuals. What they say sounds good in theory. Unfortunately we don't live in theory... Bring on the bombs already. |

Just keep believing what you are told. Don't question anything you are told. Do what you are told. Say what you are told. Waive your flag when you are told. Conform and you will be kept safe from the scary terrorists. You are a good American. :1orglaugh |

If you agree with Mr. Fiction, you're right, hands down. If you disagree, you're a Fox News watching, Rush listening, O'Reilly lover. It's that simple. Get it through your head man! For the record: I don't watch Fox News, never have. I can't stand Rush. And hardly ever watch O'Reilly, but when I have seen his show, I did think he had a few interesting points. While other points of his were just plain stupid. I think all of this makes me a sheep. Baaaaaaa! |

Favoring traditional values, loving the status quo. Change bad, free thinking, bad. Must... follow... baaaaa baaaaa Its nice to know that everyone can be reduced to two way of thinking. Conservative and liberal. What if I show both tendencies? Am I bi-liberal? That sounds so dirty. You know cock is another name for rooster? |
Quote:
I love boycotts. They're as American as apple pie. I'm currently boycotting tons of places because they pissed me off. It's my right as an American to buy from who I want and stop buying from people I no longer wish to support. You're an idiot. :) A hypocritical one, too. If someone has the right to bash the govt, someone else has the right to call that person an idiot and boycott them. |

Gimme a break. What is this, Stalinist Russia? We should have a gag order on celebrities making stupid comments. LMAO. Maybe in China. But I live in the U * S * of *A. Free country. Don't like it, then get the fuck out. And, by the way, it's a good thing celebrities don't keep their mouths shut, because my favorite president, Ronald Reagan, was an ACTOR. If that celebrity kept his mouth shut, there'd still be an Iron Curtain. |

Uh oh, there is no room in this thread for valid points. |
Jane fonda is a real american in your eyes i suppose.
Celebs are idiots. Im loving seeing sean penns career turn to shit. The Dixie Clits will suffer the same fate. "Its nice to know that everyone can be reduced to two way of thinking. Conservative and liberal. What if I show both tendencies? Am I bi-liberal? That sounds so dirty. " You are a fence sitter that will never take a real stand on any issue. |
Quote:
And can you give me some examples? |
a real american is not someone that causes harm to their country. That is a traitor. ie, jane fonda, john walker, etc
|
so tell me who is a REAL american, not who are traitors.

Like someone who trashes our constitution by ignoring all Americans right to free expression? Hey, in my book Johnny Jihad and Hanoi Jane are losers, but it is their right to be losers. Freedom of expression is absolute. Don't tread on it (although it is your right to). |

You know I've got to say these are really weird times.
When else in history could you find: The ACLU and certain conservative republicans forging an alliance to contest the Patriot Act. And similarly, have arch-conservatives (albeit paleoconservatives) allying with liberals in their opposition to the War. Very fucking strange, no? |
