If you we're homeless - where would you live?

Hypothetically of course.....

I live in Marina Del Rey, next to Venice. The homeless live like kings there......

If you lost everything - where would you go?

Seth Manson 10-22-2014 11:13 PM

I'd fucking jump off a bridge.

EddyTheDog 10-22-2014 11:32 PM

I'm guessing the number one priority would be heat - There is a big difference between freezing under a bridge in London and crashing on a beach in Spain...

Also any money you did get your hands on would go further in a poorer area/country - Spain is still sounding good.....

DirtyDreamer 10-22-2014 11:45 PM

Depends on where I'm at when I become homeless and the time of the year. Since I currently live in Kansas, I would try to make my way south to Texas before the cold weather really hits. If I don't make it, then I would probably be found dead of exposure.

brassmonkey 10-22-2014 11:47 PM

my old home :) the local zoo

TidalWave 10-22-2014 11:54 PM

a REO house in Vegas or something

sicone 10-23-2014 12:04 AM

same deal but in Florida {as long as no Chinese drywall}

or look into "adverse possession" where you can squat to take over a foreclosed house, I think Texas is one of the states where that is possible

Outside of the social welfare office until they give me place to live. At least in the past years about 1/3 of the homeless people died every winter in here, so better not to be homeless around here.

In real scenario my 4 member family (parents and a brother) has 6 houses, so if I lose my present one, I just move to another place. But that wouldn't be homeless, so for homeless scenario I would live outside social welfare office and look them with puppy eyes every day.

TeenCat 10-23-2014 03:05 AM

ten years ago in swiss, they gave you home, food, hygiene and everything, just passport and get in was needed ... now, i would choose some warm place with tons of fruits around, like south of spain :)

MrTrollkien 10-23-2014 04:32 AM

Probably a Caribbean island where one could fish as well as find fruits and sometimes vegetables growing from trees if one knew where to look. You'd need a good ratchet knife to scale the fish and open the coconut, breadfruit, etc, but it could be done.

L-Pink 10-23-2014 06:26 AM

In a van down by the river.

exactly this, although, winter nights are still cold here, so maybe hitch a boat some where further south, the canaries, a beach on the canaries can't be too bad. Salt water to wash your clothes & stay hygienic, I would have thought many bards would give a little food ech day.

I certainly appreciate what I have every day & god help & prays to those that are homeless :Oh crap

C H R I S 10-23-2014 06:51 AM

Some funny answers!!

I think I would stroll over to Venice - the homeless there are happy as clams.

Johny Traffic 10-23-2014 07:12 AM

I find my girlfriend is becoming increasingly dirty in bed. no surprise though, she is homeless after all.

Spunky 10-23-2014 07:18 AM

I would stay in my hometown

Rochard 10-23-2014 07:21 AM

Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Ala Moana Beach Park. Seems I am not the first one to come up with this idea as they seem to have a homeless population there AND a soup kitchen.

If you are going to be homeless, you might as well do it where the weather is always perfect.

beerptrol 10-23-2014 07:28 AM

Yeah I meet and make friends with people from all socio economic levels and I made friends with several of the local bumbs around there. They would leave me alone and even watch out for me and my place because I was cool, shared my weed and booze, etc. They would always tell me about all the resources that were available to them such as places they could go to get free food and clothes. One Thanksgiving I was invited along and they rode their bikes to several different churches to get a free meal. I went to one church with them and the food was fantastic. Yes I donated some cash I did not mooch. Interesting experience to say the least. But those guys would have touch winters because it does get really cold out there on the beach for several months of the year and people die of exposure at night.
They can make some decent money down there doing their gig like giving insults for $1 or entertaining people. The Venice Beach Wino told me he would make about $75 a day and he would save up all year and take a 2 week vacation to Thailand to fuck whores. Just think there are guys out there working day and night, paying mortgage, cars loans, student loans, medical expenses for kids, etc etc etc and they never have time to enjoy their success and then end up dying of a heart attack. These guys are smarter than them I think.

what? you guys don't like camping? ;)

I'd probably find work on a ship or something, no shortage of work on those.

pornguy 10-23-2014 09:00 AM

South beach Miami

LeRoy 10-23-2014 09:01 AM

If I'm homeless that pretty much means I'm single too. I'll camp somewhere on the beach, stay at friends houses, go home with girls to their house maybe some couchsurfing. Whatever :)

WDF 10-23-2014 09:10 AM

If I am Homeless doesn't that mean I have no where to go?

seeandsee 10-23-2014 09:46 AM

I would stay in some shit hole :)

CaptainHowdy 10-23-2014 09:53 AM

A buddhist monastery ...

JA$ON 10-23-2014 10:47 AM

Santa Monica

Best weather in the country and they don't bother you. Ive never seen another city where the avg home price is 2-3mm and they let the homeless run the show, LOL

CDSmith 10-23-2014 10:53 AM

I'd go live with my uncle, or another family member. Then take a look around at my situation and start planning my comeback.

I suppose i'd have to give up working on my second million since, you know, I lost everything and was homeless. That just means it's time to start working on my third. :D

lezinterracial 10-23-2014 10:53 AM

I would probably try the Pacific Crest Trail. Just go up and down it. Stay away from the desert side though. Where there is no water.

fuzebox 10-23-2014 10:54 AM

I'd build a small secret underground lair in a park somewhere :D

Spend my days dining and dashing at high end hotels and restaurants.

When I was homeless for a night after losing my apartment key I stayed with you in Marina Del Ray.

Worked out pretty good for me :)

dyna mo 10-23-2014 11:29 AM

some of y'all think the homeless have it easy/good trying to live in one of the beach cities? fyi, there's no overnighting in any of the beach cities, venice, manhatten, hermosa, redondo, etc et al. no sleeping on the beach, no camping, no overnighting in cars, no none of that. homeless people scare away tourists and these cities are tourism dominated. homeless are constantly getting harassed to move on.

San Diego.
7 days of rain per year.
Overcast till noon.
Quick bus ride to Mexico and a short hitchhike to LA.

I am not kidding - there is a huge homeless population there not too far form Waikiki Beach. People don't fly to Hawaii to be homeless, but local people in Hawaii who end up homeless.

I'm just saying... If given a choice that's where I would "want" to be homeless.

edgeprod 10-23-2014 01:30 PM

I'd head down to an incubator or other VC-backed funding apparatus, and offer my expertise in exchange for three hots and a cot.

PAR 10-23-2014 01:41 PM

Small town where rent is cheap and they have an okay cheap internet connection.
The goal would be to not be homeless for long.
Banking on the social system in a small town being easier and less saturated.
May also be easier to get a job going even if its a shit job.
Cheaper rent meaning it would be easier to get off the street.
Internet so that once I can afford even a basic computer I can start putting time in making some cash and look for a better job to get out of the situation and better myself.

bagfull 10-23-2014 01:51 PM

Los Angeles, cause i could make over 50 dollars a day

MassMarketing 10-23-2014 01:58 PM

Take my pic of 1000s of empty homes in detroit :)
