What the Fuck GoDaddy!!!!

I just tried registering domain name AmateurSchoolgirls (dot) com on GoDaddy. GoDaddy showed me a price of $3,295 because it's a premium domain name.

http://gapingasians.com/uploads/GD.gif

Are they fucking out of their mind? I went to NameSilo and got it for $8.99.

What a freaking ripoff GD has become.

Markul 10-09-2014 01:22 AM

I am amazed people still buy domains with them. Truly.

What's a premium domain?

Premium Domain Names are more valuable than other domains because they are based on common words or phrases people often use in their online searches.

While GoDaddy does not own these domains names, we are one of a select group of registrars that can introduce you to the sellers.

For more information on this domain, call 020 7084 1810

That is outrageous. Smart move to check another registrar, I would have just assumed somebody had it for sale through GoDaddy and found another name.

wehateporn 10-09-2014 02:08 AM

They will use every trick in the book on you!

seeandsee 10-09-2014 02:20 AM

I think once i got same shit, i never checked on other registar :(

Godaddy are the masters in *trying* to get you spend as much money as they want youto spend

TubeSubmitters 10-09-2014 03:30 AM

Nobody realized the domain was listed as for sale at $3,295 by previous owner who failed to renew it, godaddy doesnt seem to update their system very often?

Arnox 10-09-2014 03:40 AM

GoDaddy has always been a scum company. Don't deal with them.

Alex21 10-09-2014 03:40 AM

They shortened their grace period to 12 days and charge $80 for the remainder before it goes redemption.:321GFY

yep, if they would of went to checkout they'd of gotten it for 8 bucks or whatever godaddy charges.

woj 10-09-2014 05:12 AM

at least they didn't "reserve" the name for you, like netsol used to do....

TeenCat 10-09-2014 05:36 AM

man, this happenned to me few times already, godaddy is like that, if they see that something is interesting, they just try to make money on it ... as you said, namesilo solved the problem, i have used always the same, namesilo, what a coincidence :1orglaugh :thumbsup congrats on your schoolgirls domain :)

I guess there is the moral dilemma of supporting GD in the first place.. :2 cents:

Then again you are not truly scammed until you try 1and1.. GD are amateurs

Nice mem too btw.. take you long to search google images for that or do you get a zip full of them when you hit 10k?

I don't know what's worse, the fact that people work with a company that was literally supporting a bill that would destroy their business, or that most of you probably have no idea what I am talking about. :Oh crap

I abuse the fuck out of their $1.99 promos and transfer them to Namesilo after a year :) you can also transfer names back into them and get $1.99 transfers...so it's a circle of saving tons of money.

3xmedia 10-09-2014 12:17 PM

why do those fuckers force me to pay with CC when I want to use those 99c, $1.99 promo codes? No way, fuck them, Paypal only :321GFY

just use a debit card with minimal funds.. some vendors are sneaky and have their paypal link setup for auto billing.. hosts like doing this.. $10 for first year then bam.. $200/year

On the topic of registrars that rip people off...

I called up eNom and asked to purchase 50 domains that were previously owned, and that I didn't give a shit about the names. I've done this at other registrars and they are like no problem. But at eNom they said no, do it yourself. I am like dude, I have thousands of domains and want to try you guys out but you can't put together 50 domains for me? The answer is no.

So I put my own list together and I ask what is the price, the price he quotes me is around $2000. I almost shit myself. I am like wtf dude!!!! He said their price per domain is $39.95 or something like that. I was like you are very expensive. I just explained how many domains I have at other registrars, I am not a moron. He said that eNom is probably the best out there and that's why its so expensive. Really? BWHAHAHA. So I asked him there must be a cheaper way to buy a dot com and hes like sure you can for $13.95 or something. I am like dude, dot coms need to be under $10 max or I am not going to buy from you. So he tries to sell me on platinum status or something for like a grand.

Conclusion: enom is a bunch of thieves, just as much as GoDaddy.

So I just went back to name cheap where 99% of my domains are.

the only way to get good prices is through enom resellers. for example, namecheap.com is an enom reseller. while i use namecheap i wouldn't use just any reseller though as they can up and disappear and you're fucked.

Because otherwise they would get riped off by people with multiple paypal accounts (these promos are usually 1 per person or so).

Don't forget the inconvenience charges when you market it in a way they don't like lol

Despite what you may think, their policy isn't malicious. They need the ability to rebill customers who have their domains set to auto-renew. Many customers would be furious if they lost their domains because their renewals failed.

It happens. Godaddy syndicates premium domains as part of their results. They're not the only registrar to do this.

Previous owner listed it and let it expire. I've picked up quite a few domains that were listed for sale which I ended up getting for standard reg fee.

The premium DN price drops when you get to the shopping cart on GD if it's expired/deleted. However, with amateurschoolgirls, the premium price did not drop off.
