During the Renaissance era in Europe women that had big ass, hips, and tits were the ones the masters painted and the most desirable (we'd call them "plumpers" now).

In modern times, the 1950's seemed to be about curves. The 1960's and 1970's seemed to be about "boyish" looking girls (no ass or tits).

Then it was the emaciated skinny models for a long while.
