What the fuck happened to me?!?!?!
For a couple minutes today, I couldn't talk. I mean I could verbally make noises, but I couldn't say the names of simple items like a cup, or a chair, or someone's name. I was in a meeting at the office and I just started mumbling (mid sentence) like someone on a 10 day coke binge and no sleep. It's like my brain couldn't figure out what my mouth was supposed to say. It cleared up in about 5 minutes, but what the fuck was that all about?!?!

Maybe those 2 balls on your head took over?

Stroke symptoms include:
SUDDEN numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg - especially on one side of the body. SUDDEN confusion, trouble speaking or understanding. SUDDEN trouble seeing in one or both eyes. SUDDEN trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination. SUDDEN severe headache with no known cause. |

Definitely get yourself checked out, that could be a symptom of a potential stroke. There are other possibilities but don't ignore what happened.
Any other symptoms while this happened? Blurred vision, lightheaded/dizzy, tingling in arm/hands, headache? Good luck |
This happened to you.

I don't know who Rob is. If anybody does know him send him a message or email and encourage him to get to a doctor or ER.

Hopefully Rob is taking everyone's advice and is being checked out at a hospital RIGHT NOW.
My mom had several strokes so i know how serious this shit is. Good luck to you Rob! |
may not be a stroke - but there are two types of strokes, and if you had a TIA stroke you could seem fine. Go immediately - like now - to a doctor.

Get checked out !!
|
I took this test and got a 16% chance it was a TIA stroke. But now I'm fucking terrified. It really was the strangest feeling.

That's definitely a precursor to or was a minor stroke.
|
I knew someone who ignored something similar when it happened, her funeral was a week later.
GO TO A HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW. Not a doctor - you probably need a CT scan or MRI and urgent medical attention where they have the right gear to keep you going. |
Just so we have all the variables in place, I am undergoing a lot of stress at the moment (long story, but a lot of attorneys involved), my doctor prescribed Xanax and I've been popping them like candy, and I haven't been sleeping well at night. I don't drink alcohol or do any other drugs. Prior to the meeting, I ran into my office to get a phone call, then ran back to the conference room so I was a little winded at the time. I'm in good physical shape, work out every day.
|
No, it wasn't the Xanax, I've been prescribed and taking Xanax for the past 5 years (general anxiety disorder). I didn't go suddenly loopy because of them.

A stroke took out PF. He had several minor stokes then the big one killed him...which is really better than ending up a helpless cripple. |
I had a CAT scan and MRI done back in February, would anything have shown up then or is a stoke something that just happens instantly (or relatively quick)? Both tests showed that I had minor brain damage in the rear lobe from playing football, but nothing else to be concerned with.

Stop posting on GFY and go to the hospital. A co-worker I had once had somewhat similar symptoms while at work. It turned out he had a minor aneurysm in his brain.

That should be enough incentive to get to a specialist ASAP. |
Going to my GP tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it was stress induced and not a mini-stroke or aneurism. Like I said, no headache, no numbness, or any other symptoms, and I wasn't nearly as bad as the news reporter in the videos. I could still speak but I had to do it really slow and think about my words, and sometimes I stuttered or said the same word multiple times. I took a walk, came back in a couple minutes and was fine. Going to the doc in the AM regardless.
|
Good :thumbsup

Glad to hear you're getting checked out and hope everything will be ok Rob.

Also if you have been drinking water like crazy, you could of flushed to many salts etc. from your body. and that would give similar symptoms. Edit: Eat a banana, Drink some Gatorade, and take your ass to the ER right now. |
RIP man.

Update: Doc took vitals, tests, etc. Everything checked out. He referred me to a specialist (go figure) and that appointment isn't until next week. He did say with the short duration and lack of other symptoms, it's highly unlikely a mini-stroke, or a TIA stroke. I haven't had any other symptoms reoccur. I think I just lost my shit for a couple minutes. At least I'll sleep tonight.

what do doctors know |
See a Neurologist. Sudden confusion of muscle articulation for speech, or confusion of the articulation of words could be caused by a lot of things -- some minor and some more serious. |
