Godzilla May 16th, Am I alone who can't wait
Well, I guess it's because I'm almost 51 that the big badass monster means a lot to me. Lots of sunday mornings childhood memories.
The worst is i'm not even sure the new one will be presented in Quebec city (let alone in OAV or IMAX 3d) Who can't wait either ? |
Can't wait!
IN fact, we watched the original last night in anticipation, it's still as fantastic today as it was when I was a kid |

I hope this one will be better than the one with Matthew Broderick. http://www.35milimetros.org/wp-conte...odzilla98b.jpg Godzilla was more like a T-Rex. I think the new one will be shape-wise closer (without the zippers :winkwink:) to the original one :) |
And military jet missiles don't kill it because …………….

I can wait. I can wait until it hit Netflix or Amazon Prime.

I can't figure out why they keep making the same movies over and over. lol
They just made Godzilla again a few years ago. Then they "rebooted" Superman...just a couple of years after they had "rebooted" it before. They "rebooted" Spiderman a couple of years after the latest Spiderman movie. I love the original Godzilla movie. And yeah, I loved all those crazy and funny Japanese ones they made in the 1960's. But if they are making a new Godzilla movie, or Spiderman, or Superman...why does it have to be a "reboot" everytime? We all KNOW the origin stories. At least give us some new adventures. Maybe in this movie they will say it's Godzilla rising up from the depths after being in a deep slumber for years. But I doubt it. They will probably "reboot" it and reconfigure the "origins" story...again. :( |

Well we have no new ideas so lets just make an old movie again and make easy money |
Was my essential childhood movie, don't think I am up for a remake have fun
|
1/2 the fun about godzlla is that it's always been a remake. even the original godzilla was a remake of gojilla. It's a giant monster movie, all of them are pretty much remakes of each other. godzilla isn't that different from king kong really.
it's also been ~15 years since a godzilla movie has been released. |
can't wait either :)

For some reason it seemed to me that the Matthew Broderick one had just come out 4 or 5 years back. I guess I'm getting senile in my old age. :( |

So you're telling me that "Gone With The Wind" didn't come out a couple of years back?
My memory is getting bad...what were we talking about again? |

btw, that was the go-to line my grandma used to use when we were kids.
-Hey, grandma, what do you think about..... -All I know is my bunion aches! damn weather. |
This one looks good! The Roland Emmerich/Mathew Broderick version tried to be too "naturalistic" and pulled the Jaws-hide-the-shark thing for nothing... that was not godzilla.
This is Godzilla: Quote:
:D |
Rest assured because this director made a good low budget movie called Monsters a few years back. He did all of the effect shots in his bedroom with off the shelf software. I was wondering what he could do with millions of Hollywood dollars, and now here it is. Can't wait to see that shit.
I want to see a big IMAX blockbuster with lots of death and destruction, but hopefully aside from that it'll also be a good movie. |
godzilla
should look good on the bigscreen

I'm looking forward to seeing the new Godzilla as well. What looks really interesting about this movie is that by the previous at least, it seems to involve some backstory about atomic bombs and nuclear energy. For me, I have a very strange fascination with the A-bomb era of the 40's, 50's and 60's. I would LOVE to go to Trinity point for example, and would love to visit a nuclear reactor one day.

I thought the original 1978 version of Superman was excellent. The FX were great at the time, but the story, characters, acting, was much better. The reboot (2004?) sucked donkey balls. The story was boring, the actors were all wrong for the parts, etc. Man Of Steel, the Superman reboot of 2013 on the other hand, was fucking fantastic. Great story, great acting, great characters, great FX, rich textures, amazing music, gush gush gush. I went to see it twice in IMAX and bought the blueray when it came out. Reboots are just retries... sucky movies based on popular stories deserve a second chance in my opinion. Look at Battlestar Galactica for example.. |
I love Godzilla and I'm looking forward to it, but I also understand the frustration with the reboots.
With Spiderman and Superman and any of the comic book movies they often have decades worth of stories from the comics to draw from yet they tell the same story over and over. |
Ok, this is the trailer for monsters, after watching this trailer I recall this movie and it was fucking fantastic.
I have high hopes for godzilla now! yes! I gotta watch this again too! Big fan of gigantic monster flicks |
Gonna pass on Hollywood bullshit. The originals are far too sacred in my childhood memories to be filled by movies made with sole intent to pimp the audience. When you watch it, know you have been pimped. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
|
any bad feeling of being pimped by hollywood, wtfever that means, certainly peaked years and years ago for me. Prolly even with the broderick version of godzirra
|
re: the original, Kiing of Monsters, I had never seen the movie other than on televison, chopped up by commercials, watching it straight through was a great treat!
It's so campy and over the top without any attempt to do so, it really kills. The acting is so bad they have most of the japanese actors with their back to the camera when speaking their lines. Mason's character goes on the helicopter fight to the remote island to interview the tribal people and he's wearing a suit and tie! hahaha, classic 50s style. I also couldn't help but make the connection between Godzilla and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan. There's so much fire too, Godzilla breathing fire down on Tokyo. |
Should be good

Man I created a monster ... .... pun intended :) . |
I saw recently that George Takei did about 15 character voice overs on the original film. Never knew that.
New one? .. it'll be released for home viewing soon enough for me. :) |
It's only entertainment ...
|
8.2 on IMDB...should be a good one
