Gutterboy 03-06-2003 06:33 PM

His tough guy act would be so much more convincing had he not made daddy pull strings to keep him 3000 miles from the combat when it was his turn to go to war.

stocktrader23 03-06-2003 06:33 PM

Shhhhhh

This is scripted. :1orglaugh

I really hope they challenge him how they've been doing to Ari Fleischer lately.

This seems less inflammatory and offensive, which is odd, cause its basically a declaration of war.

Summary is on cnn.com now.

Let's see if cnn.com allows hotlinking:

It's funny to watch.. I usually have MSNBC on during the day, and whenever he gets on tv, you can watch the little ticker thingie in the lower right corner start dropping....

Anyone know of a way to short the entire DOW?

cluck 03-06-2003 06:43 PM

Haha CNN just lost its feed for a few seconds. I bet 90% of the viewers just switched.

Emerald 03-06-2003 06:47 PM

Is he always so boring ?? or just tired consulting his generals ?

stocktrader23 03-06-2003 06:57 PM

Bush doesn't want Korea making WMD's because they might end up in the hands of dictactors who try to force their will on the world. How ironic. :(

Challenge? He has a scripted reporter/question list..

I'm thinkin that they had to submit their questions prior to the conference so he would have answers that were in his favor..

Notice how fast he was able to answer all of the questions?? :)

You heard that slip too huh? :glugglug

Lizzie 03-06-2003 07:06 PM

Of course it was scripted. He dosen't have a thought of his own. He sounded like a puppet on someones knee.
Notice he never really answered any of the questions asked to him. Just skirted around and sprewed stuff we have already heard before. What a waste of time.

rooster 03-06-2003 07:08 PM

Why have a news conference if you're not going to say anything? What the hell was the point of all that?

I agree. :2 cents:

i don't hate america, and i don't hate bush, so that makes me probably unpopular here. but i was fairly disappointed with his abilities to answer the questions.

i thought it was funny though, he basically held out the finger and said "fuck you, UN" :1orglaugh

It is another attempt to gain more support for the war.

cheese4acp 03-06-2003 07:16 PM

I didn't get to see the speech I am sure that it was more on the war. but, it is not the war that I am interested in, it is the fallout of it that is gonna be the bitch.

That's exactly what I don't understand. How's he going to get more support like that? He didn't answer any of the questions. At least if he gave some good answers he could change some opinions, but he sounded like a broken record. He should fire his public relations team.

Profunds UltraBear

their goal is 200% short the S&P 500, for example today the S&P was down about 1%, the fund was up about 2%

That's one thing he did give an answer on. He said it's a regional problem. In other words, the US isn't going to get involved there militarily.

Probono 03-06-2003 07:24 PM

I listened and heard something very clearly said. He sees Iraq as a clear and present danger to the US. The constant references to Sept 11 2001 were emphatic.

Bush believes that Saddam has ignored the UN for 12 years and nothing has changed in the past few month, on that he is correct. He believes that Iraq will use it's weapons for terror against the US; 9/11 has made it clear that it can be done. Regardless of the UN we will be going to war because Saddam will never disarm any other way.

No matter how it ends this will not be pretty

NBDesign 03-06-2003 07:27 PM

I think the funniest thing bush said tonight was how he wanted to keep America free. How free are we when they can wiretap our phones, read our emails and intercept our internet transmissions. Is that freedom?

HEll, I remember when they had to knock on your door when they served a search warrent, now they just bust in at gunpoint.

Welcome to Nazi Ameria..... Heil Bush!

Mr.Fiction 03-06-2003 07:30 PM

He just wanted to say "9/11" and "Iraq" over and over again to try to brainwash idiots into thinking Saddam was behind 9/11. I wonder what percentage of the people in the U.S. have started to believe that the terrorists on the 9/11 planes were Iraqi? It's a sad commentary on how easily some people can be brainwashed.

Lev 03-06-2003 07:32 PM

watching Bush speak is like watching a comedy show, I love it

Yes, Saddam fucked up. He is an asshole and should be stopped. He is a threat I agree.

But what few people know is, that in Desert Storm, a sharpshooter had Saddam in the cross hairs and was given an order not to shoot. This could have been avoided years ago.

Saddam is not going to back down... we are going to war. It's just a matter of time.

With that said, I'll be waiting for the FBI, CIA, Home Security to break in at any moment now. :)

Manga1 03-06-2003 07:37 PM

I find it funny that people keep saying Saddam should be stopped. Stopped from doing what? He hasn't fired a shot at anybody in 12 years.

That's a nice thing for you to say now. Maybe you and your Republican buddies shouldn't have spent so much of our time and money over the last 10 years attacking the president for getting a blowjob.

Back in the 90's, when Clinton said that Bin Laden was a threat, all the Republicans wanted to talk about was cock.

:1orglaugh

Sure. And Saddam should have been dealt with before. I just find it funny that they're painting this picture that Saddam should be stopped, when he hasn't done anything in over a decade. It's something that would've been easier to do back in 1990 because he actually did something then and it was fresh in people's minds. Nobody would've opposed it then, not the French, or the Germans, or anybody else. But now it's a tough sales pitch.

I don't hate America, in fact I love this country. And I don't think anybody hates Bush.
I just resent having a former alcoholic and cocaine junkie with a vocabulary of a 12-year old who was appointed by the Supreme Court and was in National Guard "Champagne unit" during Vietnam send our guys to war because his oil buddies want to make more money.
Following his logic after US is done with Iraq it should disarm Russia cause it has nuclear (sorry nucular) weapons, and god know what those crazie Russkies one day might do, and then disarm France as well since they don't agree with Bush. China and India should be disarmed too, and what about Britain? Can't trust them completely. And if any country is about to acquire "weapons of mass destruction" US should bomb them back to the stone age. This way it will guarantee its place as the only "nucular" superpower.
And BTW as Bush himself said the press conference is "scripted".
And whoever says it's not about oil should ask themselves: "Why aren't they attacking North Korea?" It has weapons of mass destruction, more advanced than Iraq's and has openly expressed its antagonism towards US. But it has no oil so who gives a fuck what it has or says.
What about Pakistan? It has nuclear weapons and is a hotbed of terrorism, in fact many Bin Laden associates are hiding there. Why US shouldn't disarm them? Yeah, cause there's nothing but sand there.
And all of you Rush and O'Reilly fans, please.. don't equate patriotism with warmongering jingoism.
Bush does not equal US.
Makes me sick to see how this administration exploits 9-11 for its own profiteering.
They hounded Clinton for getting a blowjob and this gang has screwed the whole country with their tax cuts and war.
