Godaddy Unauthorized Renewals

Anyone else ever notice GoDaddy renewing domains that you have set to non-auto renewal? This happens to me about 10-20% of the time. Pisses me off too when I want to drop the domains and then they charge me for another year. I might just be upset enough this time to call them about the issue.

Smut 02-27-2014 01:03 PM

They'll just give you credit to buy another on GoDaddy. LOL

HerPimp 02-27-2014 01:21 PM

Use the paypal checkout and disable it on paypal side.

iSpyCams 02-27-2014 01:48 PM

Why is anyone using Godaddy?

I use them for cheap hosting while I'm building and testing. Then I move.

Never had that problem in 10+ years of business with them. However, I have seen many programming bugs, some that only occur with specific accounts.

Nurgle 02-27-2014 06:09 PM

never had it occur here

PSD 02-27-2014 06:10 PM

never happened to me, I have all domains in a preset profile with auto renew set to off.

ErectMedia 02-27-2014 09:13 PM

I set them all to manual renew so no issues.

Had one for $58 something last week but until I find it again this one does $61.19 on the 1 year plan or 32% off...

32% Off GoDaddy Products

mineistaken 02-27-2014 09:41 PM

I had things like that happen, but I was not 100% sure it was not my fault. So I can not confirm.

OneHungLo 02-27-2014 09:46 PM

Happens to me all the time. I find myself constantly requesting refunds. The first few times I called and asked why they were renewing them even though I had the renew off and they told me it was a "courtesy renew."

I guess that's what they call card banging over at godaddy :1orglaugh

fitzmulti 02-27-2014 11:25 PM

I've never had that happen once. As long as I've been with 'em, and as many domains as I have, I can't see this being a "regular" issue.

Godaddy have been around longer and have a fairly good reputation. Those that were with registerfly or have had troubles transferring domains from other registers will know that it is worth paying more for better service. They also are market with Sedo and offer the largest aftermarket on domains :2 cents:

I found it was registerfly that had the domains still listed as paid for and active under their accounts when they were already fleeced they were all listed and with renewed due dates.

pimpmaster9000 03-03-2014 05:20 AM

has never happened to me...godaddy technical assistance rocks...screw paying 20cents less to some banana register...

Captain Kawaii 03-03-2014 10:00 AM

Based on OUR experience, it's SOP for GoDaddy these days to:

Try and renew expired products especially SSL certs.
Renew domains for longer terms than we set them up with.
They refuse to correct their errors. UNLESS, you e-mail [email protected]

Godaddy was sold by Parsons awhile ago.

brassmonkey 03-03-2014 10:52 AM

the spam ran me off

The Porn Nerd 03-03-2014 11:02 AM

Danice Patrick is NOT hot.

Marcus Aurelius 03-03-2014 11:04 AM

Move all your domains away from godaddy. They are crooks.

Due to their prices or from your experience have you had a name sold from underneath you?
The pricing is certainly high.
