Most Americans just cannot comprehend how big Texas is.

Texas is bigger than England. Or France. Or Italy.

In most states, you can drive for 3 hours and be 3 states away. In Texas, drive 8 hours and you're still in Texas.

Most of you can't even begin to imagine.

Everything is bigger in Texas.

TheSquealer 07-30-2013 10:21 AM

Most Texans can't comprehend how big Alaska is.

It won't be when it melts. Alaska is basically a big county with a population of 600,000.

lol... a lot of Texans have probably never left Texas..

I've met a ton of people that have never left their home state.. I'm always baffled by how that is even possible or desirable..

Go to the inner-city of a major city? let's say Chicago. Many of them have never left their neighborhood/district.

RyuLion 07-30-2013 10:31 AM

A lot of Americans still think Alaska is an Island.

Who gives a shit?

There is more history and culture within a 50 mile radius of my home town in Virginia than in the entire state of Texas.

I drove from Florida to Arizona - headed through Texas East to West and I'll tell you what, the worst part about driving through is watching the exit signs go up by one digit at a time - from 1 all the way somewhere into the thousands. It psychologically makes time go fucking sooooo slooooooow.

Worldwide, the vast majority of people on the planet have never been more than 250 miles from their place of birth and will never live anywhere but their hometown. Even in Europe, the UK, and the US it is only about half.

:2 cents:.

robwod 07-30-2013 10:47 AM

The drive from East to West in Ontario (Canada) is a good 22 to 24 hours drive depending on the route you take, and that's if you don't stop for any length of time. Huge province.

GFED 07-30-2013 10:52 AM

I drove through Texas one day on my way to a pool tournament in California and stopped at a Red Lobster in El Paso. That was the best damn NY Strip that I've ever had. You could cut it with a fork. :thumbsup

You were in Texas and bought a New York strip at a Red Lobster? This is like going to Paris and getting an apple pastry from McDonald's.

baddog 07-30-2013 10:55 AM

Bullshit: In most states, you can drive for 3 hours and be 3 states away.

I travel the US a lot and stop and talk to the people; you would be blown away how many die within 50 miles of where they were born.

I spent over 10 years of my life hustling pool and cards, so yea, compared to pool hall food or bar food... it was fucking awesome! :thumbsup

The worst drive EVER is the 10 Fwy between El Paso and San Antonio. I thought I was going to lose my mind on it. Definitely was hallucinating.

If satan exists... he lives somewhere in west TX.

Texans should be thankful they have Senator Wendy Davis doing what she can to fight idiot Governor Rick Perry.

If Alaska broke in half Texas would be the THIRD largest state in the US.

Tom_PM 07-30-2013 12:23 PM

"Everything" equals everything. Hence, nothing is different in Texas.

Just trying to help where needed :)

The operative word there is "HISTORY." As in the past, where Virginia's relevance resides.

Texas is past, president and future. Since Eisenhower, most of our Presidents have been from Texas. And, while NY and California's population declines, Texas is still growing larger every day, and in every way.

You're wrong Mike. Texas is #2 largest state (in area).

EDIT: Unless it was East and West Alaska LOL... then yes, #3.

Negro, please.

Eisenhower: Born in Texas

Kennedy: Needed a Texan to get elected

Johnson: Texan.

Nixon/Ford/Carter -- Non-Texan disasters, each and every one.

Reagan: Texan at heart, who loved Texas so much he had his convention in Dallas.

Bush 1: Texan

Clinton: Born 50 miles from Texas, and only became president because he ran against 2 Texans (Bush 1 and Perot).

Bush 2: Texan

Obama: Disasterous non-Texan.

crockett 07-30-2013 01:20 PM

The thing I hate about Texas is almost every town looks the same as the one before it. It's like they just plop down the exact same stores in the exact same strip malls and there yea go its a town...

Whats so hard to believe? Anything is missing in their state that they should go to other states for?
If you are speaking about travel - its not texan thing, its world wide thing, mamy people never travel far away.

SleazyDream 07-30-2013 01:38 PM

Texas is puny. tiny, mini.

come up north and see the provinces or territories in Canada. I'll show you big.

in America they call it survivor, in Canada we call it camping.

in America they watch fight club. In Canada we go to the bar and experience it.

in America you need a gun or a gang member will rob you. In Canada you need a gun or a bear will EAT you.

L-Pink 07-30-2013 01:39 PM

I have a friend with the Boarder Patrol in the Big Bend National Park area. Visited him on a bike trip once and man that is a huge area of nothing.
