In most states, you can drive for 3 hours and be 3 states away. In Texas, drive 8 hours and you're still in Texas.

That's why some tiny countries are so perfect - Should be easier to manage a "state size" country than a "continent size" country, right?

I only remember stopping in El Paso once; seem to recall a lot of strip clubs. But that was 1987.

Come visit Western Australia sometime; it is more than 3.5 times the size of Texas USA. To get from the south-western point to the north-eastern point would require driving for more than 30 hours.
