Anyone else (Americans) who do not give a shit about the Zimmerman trial?

Just curious as I always seem to be in the minority on these things. I don't watch, care about, or pay any attention to these things. Every year or whatever there is some huge media following of these "high profile" murder trials. Each time the media makes some huge scene about it, it's on every channel all the time, everyone and their mother has some dumb fucking opinion about it, and think they know who is guilty or innocent.

Honestly, I just don't get it. We have a court system - let them deal with it. I am completely baffled by society's fascination with utterly irrelevant shit simply because the media tells them they need to care.

It's kind of like an analogy I always use. (This is not a real news story btw) But it's like the news showing a story of a guy - it's a quick clip, and the guy says "People who use sofas are morons, I don't need a sofa and all I use is bean bags". And suddenly people are discussing it saying "Yeah, that guys is douche, I like sofas - I think bean bags are stupid". No no no no no no no. There's no need to discuss it, there's no story, they simply went out and found some dude, who had something dumb to say, and put it in your face. You have absolutely no need to even form an opinion about what the guy said, or care in the slightest what he said. But because you have a sofa suddenly you're letting yourself get drug into some irrelevant bullshit. People seem to forget the news is a far cry from a service to bring you "news" anymore, it's a platform for advertisements. It's a business for them to get viewers, so they can sell advertising spots and make money. The random moron spouting off about sofas isn't news - neither is this zimmerman trial news. It's just random shit happening in some random part of the country, and it's not even unique or special because the same thing they're reporting is happening a hundred other times that day in every other state. But they decided to pick this one story, make a scene about it, and try to lure you in to watching. So they can let Burger King and Pepsi bombard your ass with ads.

Could you imagine if the media spin on these things wasn't there, you didn't have the TV blasting you with the biased and possibly falsified nuances of the case, and someone told you about it -- "OMG Did you fucking hear about this shit~!?!?!? There is a guy who shot another dude in Florida?!?!?! Isn't that the fucking craziest shit you've ever heard in your life?!?! OMG I'm soo fucking interested in it, I'm going to start forming opinions on the whole case by any and all unsubstantiated facts I can find!!!" -- Pretty sure you'd think the person was fucking retarded right?

I do not care.....

Rochard 07-13-2013 10:13 AM

We talk about these things because they are interesting, and sometimes cases catch national attention.

This morning here in my little home town there was some kind of shooting, cops were involved, but being as it's only 10am here and it was a minor incident... No one in the world gives a shit.

AllAboutCams 07-13-2013 10:14 AM

I was not but then i got hooked on fox news covering it

i dont care, i feel like i'm missing out on a cultural phenonemon though.

i've tried to get interested, but it won't kick in.

This became a big case in the public because the family had to bring in other people from outside the local cops in order to have the killer charged.

Simple as that.

And now you're boarding up all your windows preparing for the upcoming riots?

NaughtyRob 07-13-2013 10:50 AM

I dont give a shit about ANYTHING in the news. Especially shit that does not concern me.

2MuchMark 07-13-2013 10:50 AM

I care, but I'm Canadian and my opinion probably doesn't matter much.

What I would like to see is the ridiculous "Stand your ground" law abolished in Florida and everywhere else. Get control of the insane gun situation you guys have and put Zimmerman in Jail for second degree murder.

I know though that this won't happen. Zimmerman will get off (thanks to the "Stand your ground law"). Republican politicians will come in their pants and black people will be fucked over once again. Despite Trevyon's family's plea for peace, there WILL be riots in the streets.

Simple as that.

other people = Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson.

When those two show up the media follows. You're right, without them being there Trayvon Martin's family would have forever felt like they were screwed over by the authorities.

If nothing else, Sharpton and Jackson got GZ brought to trial and maybe even a conviction.
Nothing will be a replacement for losing their son, but at least it's something.

On the flip side of the coin...the "race" card was brought into play so heavily during that time that if GZ gets set free, there will be violence.

Mark, you are off base again.

"Stand Your Ground" was not even used in this case. Simple "self defense" is what is being argued.

And why are you bringing Republican politicians into the discussion?
Jesus Christ man! Why don't you move here to the fucking United States, become a citizen and go register as a Democrat so you can FINALLY have that giant orgasm you've been working on? lol

Vendzilla 07-13-2013 11:00 AM

it's big because they are calling Zimmerman white, they must have been really let down when they found out he was half Hispanic.

Too guys got in a fight, one had a gun, fight was over.

Obama found out about the IRS scandal watching the News, yet had to make a comment on this?

The Porn Nerd 07-13-2013 11:05 AM

I don't give a shit.

Zimmerman is referred to as a "White Hispanic" does this mean Obama is now a "White African American" ?.. Just curious, I wouldn't want to be politically incorrect.

I don't give a fuck, I actually had to google the zimmerman case to figure why so many fucking threads are on GFY regarding it, then I realized it was about the racist cop who killed a black kid. Then my care meter went down more.

Heh-heh

Not even close!

See, that's what happens when the media interjects themselves and makes a case about race like they did for the last year before the trial even started. It causes a lot of disinformation.

Don't forget he's Latino. So now we are all racist against Hispanics for even thinking he is racist.

I went to see Rodney Carrington do his comedy show a month ago here in Vegas. He had a black comedian open the show for him.
The comedian said that whites and blacks are finally putting their problems behind them and ending racism...said we have to because "the Mexicans are coming" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

This I do give a shit about …...

"Judicial Watch said Wednesday that it "has obtained documents in response to local, state, and federal records requests revealing that a little-known unit of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Community Relations Service (CRS), was deployed to Sanford, Fla., following the Trayvon Martin shooting to help organize and manage rallies and protests against George Zimmerman."

That unit is sent out to monitor what is going on when ever protests marches and etc. are taking place particularly when civil rights are involved. They don't organize or manage...they observe. They are identifiable by the clothing they wear.

i've always understood the term as african-american was the generation of people born in america whose parents were of african descent.

The majority of blacks use to embrace being called African American...but the majority now embraces being called black American and some embrace just being called American.

I look at the unbelievable amount of time the media is dedicating to the Zimmerman trial as just one more shiny object being used to distract us.

Over 30 people are killed by handguns every day just in the USA, while worldwide there are around 525,000 homicides each year and another 180,000 are killed in wars or similar conflicts. But why look at the big picture when we can narrow our focus down to what one man did to one other young man on one particular day.

If it's a bright shiny object that they want us to look at, it's usually because there's something else they'd rather we don't see. It's not magic, it's misdirection. If you're looking where they want you to look you won't see the things they'd rather we didn't see.

So to answer the OP's question, yes, I do not give a shit about the Zimmerman trial.

I didn't say Zimmerman would use "Stand your Ground" law as a defense. This was already announced by CNN and others : http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/30/justic...merman-defense

However it is still being discussed :

http://news.yahoo.com/zimmerman-jury...150002711.html

http://www.damemagazine.com/2013/06/...it-means-women

And "Simple Self Defense" is not shooting an unarmed person. Zimmerman, by his own admission, went out of his way to confront Martin. It sounds to me like Zimmerman was getting the beating he deserved. Even the 9/11 operator told Zimmerman NOT to approach him but he ignored the advice and went after Martin anyway.

Ok maybe I jumped the gun here a little but you know that no matter what, the NRA will be there pushing for more guns, and, they will get all the support they need from Republicans and especially from Governor Rick Scott who together, brought the Stand your Ground law to FLorida in the first place.

Trust me I always wanted to move the the US. Florida and California are amazing places at one time but... you have to admit that things have got pretty bad since Dubya was in power... or do you think otherwise?

You clearly did not watch the trial and you are ignorant about almost everything you have stated. But if I recall some of your posts correctly you are more often ignorant than not... on subjects you post about

Yeah, it's all Bush
...NO! This country has been steadily getting worse since the Nixon administration. Combination of The Supreme Court giving more and more power to authorities to do pretty much anything that they want to us. I grew up in Florida...born there in 1961. It's ALWAYS been kinda crappy in central Florida in my opinion.

Since "Dubya" was in power...is that really what the media has convinced people outside the U.S. of?

Dude, "Dubya" has nothing to do with the problems our country has. And how you could possibly think that "Dubya" is having any effect after 5 years of Pres. Obama being in "power" is laughable.

You do really, really need to get here and become a citizen. Then you can be a Democrat.
And then you too can be disappointed by them.

Same for Republicans.

NONE of them do what they say. They all are in it for power and money.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Zimmerman-Fest...

The other reason this case is big is simple too.

Look at how many people in this thread refuse to admit that Trayvon was "suspicious" because he was black.

They scream "race card" whenever the truth about racism is mentioned.

People die and they think it's a card game.

:2 cents:

it was the parents, their attorney and the media that made it about race.

A simple fact is that when first asked to describe Martin, Zimmerman didn't know if he was black or not. He had no clue as to what his race was even after he made the call.... SO... you fail at race baiting.... and cards.

So to answer the OP's question, yes, I do not give a shit about the Zimmerman trial.

First, the media and professional black shit-stirrers started the race issue. They even turned a very hispanic looking male into a "white" hispanic to suit their agenda.

Second, the black gangsta/crime culture is responsible for the"suspicious" viewing of many blacks. You sure as hell don't see this with asians for example. The only derogatory remarks you hear about asians are math jokes. Wonder why that is?

Stop blaming whitey for every damn thing that happens. And by all means call me a racists for pointing out the obvious.

Yep, "news", sports, shows - all just a big diversion to keep us from thinking for ourselves.

Why waste your life mindlessly spectating, having an illusion of "opinion", or watching somebody else making money doing what they like to do?

I'd rather think for myself, do my own thing and be on the other side of the screen one day :thumbsup

I could care less I just get a kick out of watching other people boil over it.
