Speaking for my self, there is lots to admire about America, but the last 15-20 years has been nothing but rape and abuse of human rights in all of North America, people focus on the US cause you guys are arms deep in everything and effect everyone.

Do you know what is going on? I don't. They didn't arrest him. I think they detained him, not arrested. I don't know what the reason, may be he was reported as one of the criminals or something - who knows. Police didn't beat him, didn't kick him in the head, right? Just handcuffed to secure - he didn't resist. Then dog attacked police officer and they used lethal force only after dog bit officer.
Now I think this guy arrested for sure... it is not his direct fault, unless he somehow ordered his dog to attack(I doubt it).

What would you do if dog attacks you?

Cops in the US are the nicest I have met by the way ( And I have traveled quit a bit). Cops in Europe are REAL assholes and if they want to beat your ass while in custody they will do just that, and there is nothing you can do about it. They want to search you randomly because you looked at them the wrong way? They will do that too!

This is what will happen in another country:

And how is this handled in other countries? They arrest the woman? Or they don't show up at all? If someone accuses someone of a crime - assault - and if there is any proof to back this up, the accused gets arrested and goes to trial.

I know enough people who live in the states. So it's not only from TV.
Sadly most of those tvshows are pretty much daily situations in the states.

i live in the states. i've had several exchanges with police in my life. you are wrong assuming that tvshows depict the typical.

I'd think police would want to carry some sort of anti-dog weapon instead of just shooting them. That's such an asshole thing to do. There has to be something out there to make dogs stay away. I mean, if the police now have a radar weapon that makes people shit their pants, surely to God they can scare a dog away.

Problem is in the US cops don't need a lot of prove.
It is enough when the woman has a bruice on her arm.

In my country (on the second or third call) they probably give a restrain order to the guy (he need to stay with friends or family) and keep both parties away from eachother. Then in the next days they investigate the situation. IF they find prove then he or she will have to go to court.

And almost never he or she will go to prison for such a stupid offense. In most cases the day after they make up with eachother and that was it ...

O well ...

This is not new to me (I'm 45 y.o) ... and I have friends in the states for almost 15 years.

Just those stats show that the way how cops and courts handle things in the states just doesn't work. Thats all.

The more people they lock up the more criminals seems to hit the street.
Thats because they come out of jail with a hate against the system (cause they are locked up for stupid things)
