That?s the thing with Tumblr, you need to make it social-friendly. That?s what Tumblr is all about in the first place: a social network with it?s own ecosystem, just like Twitter and Facebook.

This is one of the first mistakes a lot of affiliate marketers make when they begin to use Tumblr. They don?t understand that Tumblr is first and foremost, a SOCIAL thing. That?s why we?ve insisted so much on following, reposting, and now commenting. Make it LIVE.

It can mean a heck of a difference for your many newborn pages. You need to ride the current. Blend in with the surrounding flux of Tumblees. Be one of them, and then you?ll be able to sneak out with your pockets full of money.

I can't tell you how much I love the guys who chop off my watermarks and put them on tumblr. :thumbsup

I was not talking about any obvious "Click-Me" flashing button here. This would have been a retarded way of asking for a ban, I do agree with you on that.

We've been using "build up" techniques on 100's of our tumblrs for years now without having a single one banned.

I would tend to believe that all these banner-slammed blogs with no followers, reblogs or comments, without original content would be banned way before any socially active, content-rich page built following this guide's model...

No offense taken. Using hyphens and keywords in your tumblr's URL to better get picked by SE isn't a secret for anyone. That's the only thing that was to be understood from this example.

Unfortunately, he won't be the first smartass ripping off content.

Still, I took the time to clarify that point earlier in the paragraph, right under the header:

"From here, I assume that you have your own sources and that you have the necessary rights to use this content, whatever it may be."

heh - not sure you realise who you called a smart ass then...

FWIW, keeping the watermarks does not matter if you have a branded site and tumblr to go with it :2 cents:

Make your content social-friendly.
You want it to be shared. The more it?s shared, the more authority and notoriety you?ll get.


Humor is your Ally.
Think fun over porn and people will be inclined to share it.

Be smart. Blend in your links.
Don?t SPAM your banners all over the place.

Know your audience.
Know what they like and how they want it.

Quality over Quantity.
It requires a little more effort but it will last and it will pay off.

Respect Copyrights
Use content that you have the rights to, Create it if you can , else sponsors will be happy to provide the content if you help them building their brand and if you generate traffic and leads.

Yes they do, but you need to flag it as NSFW.

We don't claim to be perfect, we will always adjust to new pertinent input.
We have hundreds of tumblrs and none ever been deleted and the revenues and seo effects are on a steady growth.

It depends on your situation and relationship with the sponsor. Some affiliates can, and others can't.

It also depends on what you're promoting.

An ideal situation is not to have watermarks, but we do realize that is not always a possibility for affiliates. Work with what ya got :)

This as been needed BIG time on GFY. Bringing back the business sense. I'd rather read threads like these daily then any gun nut debate ;)

Yes, there are are many porn blogs... just search juicyads for "tumblr", see the results and click follow, then re-post and so on.

Don't use banner and stuff like that directly into the post because you'll sound the alarm at tumblr. Just put your blog name with link included when you re-post because it will show on any note of that original pic.

Tumblr themes are very customizable so you can add banners and stuff directly into theme ,but like always don't over do it...

As final word, don't expect too much from the tumblr traffic. Most surfers go there because it's free and they find good stuff for free, they would rarely buy something from an affiliate link....:2 cents:

I found two great keyword domains that I honestly can't believe weren't taken. One blog has 62 followers and the other has 24 followers since creating them for this tutorial. I can't wait to see part 3!

Unfortunately, there is an other problem.

Tumblr deletes blogs containing affiliate links.

They deleted my account because 1 of my 3 blogs contained affiliate links.

If you add some affiliate link saying "click here for more" you will have problems. It happened to me.

Click-through-the-pictures links is certainly a better idea because it would be more discrete.
But what's the percentage of viewers who actually click on the pictures ? Pictures in the dashboard are already quite big (500px wide).

Following people hoping they will follow you back is also a good idea. But maybe 10% of the people you follow will follow you back. So you have to unfollow people who are not following you back when you reach the 5000 blogs follow limit.

In order to screw that follow limit, a good idea would be to create multiple accounts (don't know if Tumblr would like that). 1 niche per account. More than 5000 people following you back per single account, ...

About Tumblr deleting blogs, it's sadly part of the game. We don't pretend having a flawless method of doing it. We told you about how WE were successfully promoting and making money with Tumblr blogs, and we never had a single page banned doing it that way... :winkwink:

From there, it's really up to you to fine tune your method and find what works for you best. :thumbsup

You are totally right on that. Becoming an expert at something MIGHT require more than reading two blog posts eh? :winkwink:

As I said before, the intention behind these posts is to show the way and give the basics so people get started in the right direction. From there, well... it's up to them to push it to the next level. And that, may requires a little more research, practice and efforts than what's teached here.

But hey, the important thing to remember is that first and foremost, we're here to help our affiliates succeed and make more money along the way. :pimp
