Stupid math question

I say the answer is 60
Other people are saying 48

I suck at math, but am I right?
It can't possibly be 48.. the 12 24 36 is there to throw everyone off, right?

ErectMedia 03-11-2013 06:49 PM

60 :2 cents:

baddog 03-11-2013 06:53 PM

It is 60; remember, you did not need school. Have faith.

Double each number then add them together

Deputy Chief Command 03-11-2013 06:57 PM

it is not a math question though, it is a logic question , and it can be many things depending on how you look at it

That's what I did, but everyone seems to think it's 48

This may explain why our government has come to what it has

(2+10)=24
+(3+15)=36
= 5+ 25= 60

but...
12..24..36..48 !

See it's function of the question

Well, it's a little of both. I guess it's a logical question expressed using maths.

^This will explain maths better than anyone could ever have imagined. I bet that NONE of you can understand the complex theories expressed within this intellectually challenging video

No, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60

You missed 4+20 = 48

My Fucking Traffic 03-11-2013 07:40 PM

Not a real world equation so who cares.

2013 03-11-2013 07:46 PM

who is everyone?? I saw this on facebook and the ones who picked 48 just did not notice they skipped a row. Of the 100 people who guessed maybe 10% got it wrong but you are the smart one :)

bl4h 03-11-2013 08:33 PM

I was completely confused because you said it was a math question. its more an IQ puzzle

there is no 4 in the picture, that's why it's 48 :p
But again 60 is also a possible answer.

those three, then it specifically says "then", and asks 5 + 25 =?

theres only one answer, 60

no if ands or buts

its an if/then question

You completely lost me
I see that you could figure the last one out using any two of the first three

To me it's

If the first three are true, what does the last one equal?

Since the first three are x+x times two, then, the last one must be

Like I said - I'm no math guy - but I am pretty damned sure that the answer can't possibly be 48

yes, that's a possible way to think the problem.
it's 60 when you think it's a math problem.

If you think that the answer is 48, then you consider that you have to complete a serie with only the right part that matters.
so: 12, 24, 36 and 48

But personally i would probably answer: 60...
I just saw an alternative way to think the problem where you conclude that the answer is 48.

it is 60 no doubt, why would you put a question mark on the last one, if that wasnt the one you were trying to figure out. how could you think it was the one previous. look at the other three. no question marks. helllooooo

That is why it is called a logic test. The answer can not be 48 under any circumstances.

Ah, I see, but to do that you'd have to ignore everything but the right column .. wouldn't you?

You know, I bet that if I sat down to have a couple of beers with you, I bet that we'd agree on 60% of whatever we ended up talking about. I like you.

again, if the question says so, it's possible.
When i was young they inverted sometimes the - and the + in some math problems.

baddog 03-11-2013 09:02 PM

What kind of beer do you drink?

I think they take the "then" as "fill this in". "what goes here". I just dont understand how they ignore the question mark on the last one.

Its true, its how you look at it. but that 10% look at the question cross eyed and borderline retarded. which i think is the whole point in the puzzle

Well, we will have to go somewhere that doesn't serve those, that is for sure.

John-ACWM 03-12-2013 05:40 AM

I'll go with 60 too.

ottopottomouse 03-12-2013 05:47 AM

Good job you can't afford to borrow the $10k.
