Drivers stoned on marijuana test their driving skills

I wish they would have compared with drunk drivers.

Dirty F 02-18-2013 10:37 AM

I have no sound on so i can't hear what it is about.
But is this a thread started to claim smoking while driving is no problem? Or something like that?

I watched about 3/4s of the way through. Basically its testing people who are high and how they drive. For the most part, if you are 10x the legal limit you can still drive fine.

:2 cents::2 cents:

newB 02-18-2013 10:42 AM

My takeaway is that since all three were over the 'legal limit', yet deemed fit to drive by the instructor, then the limit is too restrictive. Shocker.

dyna mo 02-18-2013 10:43 AM

that chick was in stoner chick heaven. i think she had an orgasm toward the end!

Scott McD 02-18-2013 10:44 AM

The stoners i know can't even walk in a straight line let alone drive a car safely...

Dirty F 02-18-2013 10:45 AM

I know stoners are not exactly the brightest people around but even they would not be so stupid to say driving while stoned is ok.
I can't believe anybody would be that retarded.

Exactly. I'm sure no sane person here would argue with that.

Dirty F 02-18-2013 10:47 AM

Why the alcohol reference in the first post btw? I thought driving with alcohol in you was illegal. No?

dyna mo 02-18-2013 10:50 AM

i wasn't aware *they* had a test to immediately test for weed. anybody know more about that?

i think they just meant that driving on alcohol is a lot worse then driving on weed. you are much more impaired on alcohol then weed. I might agree that its not good to drive stoned and you do get impaired, but at the same time, you dont hear of many tragic deaths because a driver was stoned. You do hear about it with alcohol and just about everyone who smokes drives stoned, and thats a lot of people.

Where I live the legal limit is .08, unless you are underage in which case it's zero.

Alcohol is legal across the US. Marijuana isn't. Yet if you had drunk people doing this test, you can guarantee it wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly.

So my question regarding comparison was based on it already being legal for one, yet not the other. When the illegal one has less side affects.

Try that again with 1k people and see how well they do.

Then decide.

3 people is not a test that can give results enough for that type of thing. Now take those same 3 and add in moving cars and see what happens.

That's why driving with alcohol is illegal. So why mention it? Is anybody here saying driving with alcohol is fine?

It's illegal to drive with alcohol in you. Maybe you didn't know that yet?

Its illegal to drive with a specific amount of alcohol in you that causes you to be impaired.

There is a difference.

Yup. It's illegal.
What are you trying to say with your first post exactly? You are not in any way hinting at driving while stoned is fine, right?

I can have 2 or 3 beers and drive fine. When I used to smoke weed there was no chance in hell I would get behind a wheel and drive.

DatePoster 02-18-2013 11:12 AM

For some reason I speed when sober but slow down when high :stoned

woj 02-18-2013 11:21 AM

driving on ANY drug is irresponsible and stupid ... :2 cents:

if you want to get high... great....stay home or have a sober driver to drive you around... :2 cents:

Yea. I have had other people tell me the same as well. Then a lot of other people I know smoke and drive all the time. the ratio is probably 9:1 of people who smoke and drive and people who dont. But I am sure you understand what I am saying...

No, not really.

Highway deaths have actually decreased in states that have legal medical marijuana.

http://www.denverpost.com/news/marijuana/ci_19437417

People that text while driving are the ones that scare the hell out of me.

Is driving after a few beers fine as long as you aren't over the legal limit?

Then (once legalized) marijuana SHOULD be the same way.

Hence the reason I said I wonder what the comparison would be in terms of driving over the legal limit with alcohol.

No, driving after a few beers is not fine and saying if you are allowed to drive with alcohol then weed also should be allowed is beyond retarded.
If 1 bad thing would be allowed then another should also be allowed. Really? This is your logic?
Let me guess, you are stoned right now?

what's the blood alcohol limit over there? here its .05 which is almost nothing. 1 or 2 beers and you'd be over but if 1 or 2 beers is doing anything for you, then i don't know what to say about that. weed is different. a few tokes and your 'intoxicated' though its not the same as alochol. you could smoke weed all night and no matter what, you'll only get so stoned whereas with alcohol, if you keep drinking, you get worse and worse.

Now its not 'fine' to drive after a few beers if you're still within the legal limit? Interesting.

One can only assume you're trolling at this point. Or just illogical. :thumbsup

thats for sure, comparing someone on weed driving and a drunk driver is like comparing a dick and a finger.

Jel 02-18-2013 12:24 PM

I'll take option C, on the road with no drunk, and no high drivers. Unless the point of this thread is purely to say that idiot stoned drivers are better than idiot drunk drivers? And are somehow 'safer'? lofl, this place gets more bonkers every time I pop in to let off steam :1orglaugh

LAJ 02-18-2013 12:28 PM

Not surprised at the results. The bottom line is anything used in excess is bad and will impair you.

My take on this? Addy is hot.

Yeah, you must be trolling, mad, or insanely stupid.

Perhaps a bit of all three judging by your sorry attempt at name calling.

When I was young and stupid we used to smoke weed instead of drink cause drinking and driving was not allowed ;)

Using whose judgement to define 'fine'?

Some one forgot to take their pills today.

Or took to many.

I'll leave it up to the community to decide which it is.

dyna mo 02-18-2013 12:54 PM

irresponsible journalism on cnn's part imo. the misleading part of that test is what it leaves out- reaction times. stoned peeps might be able to cruise around well enough to blend into traffic and not get noticed by the police but i'd be interested to see how things went when they have to react to something, like a kid running out in the street.

One can only assume you are, based on your accumulated examples of irrational posts.

See how that works? You seem angry. Should probably do a double dose of Xanax today. Just don't OD like last time.

Badmaash 02-18-2013 01:04 PM

Great test on drugs!

Mine and the law. I can legally have 2 beers and drive and still be under the limit. Plus my own judgement, I don't feel impaired till after 3 beers. Usually mush more than 3 beers before I feel impared to be honest but I would not drive.

i wonder which is moar danger- a road full of angry drivers or a road full of stoned drivers...............
