Gave up smoking - Lasted 20 mins :(

I decided that I was just going to quit - Smoked the last fag in the pack and went to check a few stats.

Turned out that PayPal had declined a payment to a host and the sites are down.

I have never moved so fast - I was at the fag shop faster than 'The Flash' :Oh crap .....

I need to be locked in a room.

Spunky 06-12-2012 04:44 PM

I gotta try to quit that shit too.I'm not helping myself

XPays 06-12-2012 04:47 PM

5 yrs without even a blunt or cigar or any kind of tobacco for me in sept

i chewed the gum for months and almost chewed thru my cheeks and gums a few times.

brassmonkey 06-12-2012 04:48 PM

scubadiver626 06-12-2012 05:55 PM

keep trying, it does eventially stick.

DEEP BREATHS! Ice cream too ;) The 10 pounds you'll gain is nothing compared to a 50% increase in a heart attack. Ever monitor your chest beats after a fag, scary shit.

Before you know it, youll wanna work out and eat right too.

Rmagnus 06-12-2012 08:13 PM

been trying to quit myself for 2 years now...without luck :(

Educate yourself on the mechanics of nicotine addiction, then get yourself psyched up to quit and go cold turkey. It's out of your blood in 3 days, the rest is in your head.

Harmon 06-12-2012 09:25 PM

Nobody likes a quitter :2 cents:

ShoeBox 06-12-2012 09:39 PM

those new anti smoking campaigns don't make me want to light up until i have to get up to go in another room so i dont see it anymore and light up

Kicking the nicotine addiction is the easiest part. It's all the other damn addictive chemicals they add in to cigarettes that make it extremely difficult.

And nicotine itself - while classified as a poison - isn't actually life threatening or particularly dangerous - so long as you're not a moron and don't OD.

There are many factors involved in quitting smoking. I've had moderate to good success by using electronic cigs but always end up smoking again for various reasons. The number 1 reason is because I use smoke breaks to step away from work for a few minutes and let my eyes adjust on something else. And I feel like a fool going outside to puff away at my e-cig ><

One time I finally made the decision to quit. I made it just over 3 weeks. I started again because my I ran out of e-liquid and it just so happened that the shipment I was waiting for got lost in customs for over a month. I'm currently trying again.

The one thing I have learned throughout my trials is that you have to be ready to quit. No matter how hard you try, no matter what you do, if you are not ready to quit then you won't.

campimp 06-12-2012 10:33 PM

Sounds like you tried everything except actually quitting. LOL

Brokerbabe 06-13-2012 01:32 AM

I tried electronic cigarettes, medical stuff, chewing gum... each time i set my mind to quit smoking, there is someone next to me smoking like hell.. so..why bother.. if you quit cigarettes, you will not quit weed :), so..:) Congrats to whom actually managed to quit.

Here's the thing... Those crutches will actually make it WORSE when you try to quit smoking. They keep nicotine in your system! You want to get rid of nicotine, why would you keep it in your system if you want to quit?

I tried electric cigs, gum, patches etc... Nothing worked until I just put the pack down with the lighter, threw out ashtrays and mentally "quit". When you want a cig, don't. Go brush your teeth or do something else. It's hard, but that will pass. Something like the first 8 to 12 days will be the hardest, so mark it on a calendar everyday you get through. If you break down... Don't give up. Just start over, and keep it up. Eventually it will get easier and easier.

I started to quit by limiting myself. I stopped having cigs after the habitual times. One by one I got rid of those. You know... Morning cig w/ coffee, after eating, after sex, before bed, work break, when you first get in the car, in the call all together... if you start to break yourself of those one by one. It's easier to give it up completely. You can't be in the habit of smoking if you intend on quitting.

Just some tips. So far, I haven't slipped this time.

P.S.... You can't be around people that smoke for a while. Just hold up, read some books, work on projects etc... It will help. Cigs STINK now. It's gross. I can smell them from a mile away.

Sounds like you may also need a lifestyle change. Don't go to where people are smoking. If that means no bars and not hanging out with smoking friends, your health is worth that I would think.

Good luck.

I roll my own cigarettes with clean tobacco that I buy in pouches.
It's just the plant matter and it isn't that harmful or addictive.
Word to wise you are addicted to getting wet with that population control nonsense.

Black All Through 06-13-2012 04:07 AM

I smoked for 18 years in a row, one day I said fuck this shit and never lit another ciggy again.

Good job! :) After about 3 to 6 months, you will be able to take really deep breaths without coughing. :)

You realize that the "plant matter" contains nicotine naturally, right?

It's a nightshade plant and as a toxic as a tomato.

Nicotine is addictive but is the least harmful of the chemicals I agree.

BTW - The nightshade family does actually contain some of the deadliest plants known.

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-13-2012 06:17 AM

I've summarized this below for you Eddy.

Smoke clean tobacco for fucks sake you nit wit.

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-13-2012 06:48 AM

So eddy i'm going to paint you a picture.

http://www.sixthseal.com/archive/Apr...co_removal.jpg

You should do this and not only look at it closely but smell it.

It stinks of man made chemicals.

Alternatively this is what I have at hand:

http://s17.postimage.org/nb3spui7z/Untitled_1.jpg

It smells of plant matter.

Playing the devils' advocate here, but you can keep
smoking without an after thought provided you think ahead.

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-13-2012 06:52 AM

That is how you stop smoking whilst coming to terms with what it is that YOU are smoking.
I have a very wise friend who I once asked why those fucking things contained the things they do.
He replied simply that is was the only way to make the plant matter horribly addictive. Pays to know. Anyway life's short regardless, here here.

Lykos 06-13-2012 09:07 AM

2,5 yrs clean and will stay like that !

sojproductions 06-13-2012 09:11 AM
