Now that ICM is sponsoring WMA...

Xbiz just announced "ICM Registry plans on a marketing blitzkrieg at several adult industry shows in the next three months and has taken sponsorship packages at AVN's Webmaster Access in September in Amsterdam"

Story here

So will there be a backlash against AVN and WMA shows since they are taking sponsorship money from ICM or was NALEM a special target?

How long until they skin GFY?

JFK 08-10-2011 12:44 PM

interesting :2 cents:

MaDalton 08-10-2011 12:44 PM

I don't see ICM listed on the site....

http://www.webmasteraccess.com/

Is this confirmed?

We all know why Xbiz would want to post an article about this, by the way. Too bad they don't report on themselves fully.

Just like Xbiz's polls. if it says 75% of the industry supports .XXX then it must be true :thumbsup:warning:helpme

Will be an interesting show... See y'all there ;)

Tasty1 08-10-2011 04:12 PM

maybe more like an advertorial:
XXX Smackdown: Stuart Lawley vs Tom Hymes
http://www.webmasteraccess.com/schedule.html

But it is the Dutch Webmaster Meeting that refused NALEM.
Too many photographers, not all webmasters want their pictures online.
They don't want to look al several sites for removing their pictures.
And a lot won't like it if their pictures are used for promoting .xxx
Webmaster Meeting is seperate from WMA, but working close together this time for a great European show.

I am thinking for how much i would let .xxx sponsor the Dutch Webmaster Meeting.
Would anyone blame me if they gave me 300.000 euro and get free beer at the friday night party? Would you do it? ....
But they didn't offer me that, they didn't even make a proposal.

Maybe they just buy tickets and walk in with a lot of chicks with .xxx shirts. So i might make a new rule.
The Webmaster Meeting is free for everyone that signs up at the website. Tickets at the entrance are 1500 euro each ;)

I can confirm that they are not sponsoring the event. They are attending as they do in all the european shows this fall and have booked a suite in the hotel for meetings....Thats it.

Now some want to play funny games. We prefer to pass....

As some posted above check www.webmasteraccess.com :)

Only thing there of .xxx is indeed the Smackdown: Stuart Lawley (CEO of .XXX) VS Tom Hymes (Senior Digital editor of AVN and VP of the board of FSC...).

Thanks for clarifying... and you are too kind Panos in referring to this as "funny games"

IMO, when this is the title "ICM/.XXX Plans $3M Marketing Pitch, Sponsors WMA, EDS, Exxxotica" ... it's either sloppy / misleading / inaccurate journalism... or downright libelous. Kudos to you and AVN for taking the highest road.

They had rooms, or appeared at seminars at other shows before, Vienna, Mallorca,
LA, Vegas,Phoenix, SF. etc This is nothing new, you want controversy, action at shows/ seminars, then you do what it takes.:2 cents:

I don't think it works in their advance. I think a lot of people find it annoying.

As event organizer you might better take the money, than at least someone has some profit. Maybe they just put chicks in front of the hotel with .xxx shirts. But if you need that to promote your business, it is a little bit pitiful.

If anyone has anti .xxx promtional material, i can put in on a table. But you can boycot them, we have seen what happens with the tubes, they are part of the industry now. And for the right price everyone is for sale. At a consumer show you can't stop them, they just give money to big pornstars to use a .xxx domain. And if they are creative, 1001 more options are available.

I know a representive of .xxx signed up at the webmaster meeting. But i don't think my registration form works if 10 .xxx promo babes sign up.

looking forward to suggestions :)

Stuart Lawley vs Tom Hymes
Stuart Lawley vs _________

Where were these head on debates with Lawley at the shows BEFORE .XXX was passed?

Shows are going to ride this wave until the novelty wears off. But really, who cares? .XXX is a reality now. There is nothing anyone is going to say or do that is going to change it. Well, one thing thing that changed is now they are getting their own suites, sponsoring shows and welcomed into the industry because "money talks." Pathetic really. Or, it just shows you who was silently in support of .XXX to begin with.

MaDalton 08-11-2011 05:29 AM

i don't like the idea of .xxx but i am against boycotting them or not allowing them entrance or whatever. let them come, sponsor, party or whatever - it's fine with me. at the end it's up to everyone to make up his own mind if he wants to buy their domains or not.

and compared to many others in this "industry" at least their business is legit, can't say that about a lot of others who regularly attend shows, are "Bros" and meanwhile fuck over their surfers. :2 cents:

I agree. And it's REALLY fun to go up to them and say "So, how can you convince me you care about the industry, the kids, the surfers etc and are not just a group of people set out to make as much money as possible, like .mobi etc"

I did that to Stuart when he sat opposite me speed networking. He refused to answer and sat there with his arms crossed sulking. Fucking funny!
