Content Vs Design
I think it's all about content, if you deliver crappy content, you won't make the sales. I'm tired of hearing webmasters whine about their designs being poor. People don't care if you use Times New Roman and white backgrounds, as long as you have great content. (Or promote great content example: Up sells, TGP's & MPG's)
If there was a bet on design over content, I'll bet on content. When you market, you market content, not that your site happens to be a cutting edge design. Because frankly, surfers have a dick in one hand and a credit card in another, do you think they give a shit what colour scheme you're using? The highest traffic web sites have little to no CSS, nor do they use excessive colours or flash. Simplicity, content and ease of navigation = sales. All of you morons popping up shit and aiming at making money through that before making money from your content should be banned from doing so. On a personal note, all of those retards using flash just to be "cool" need to get a reality check, flash should be kept out of porn sites, it was originally invented to allow webmasters to have more content in a smaller amount of space. Not needed anymore, people have a minimum of 800x600. I have yet to see a flash site that has made more sales based on the flash part of it being significant to it's cause. Give us all a break and stop making us download large files just to read one or two lines of data. HTML is sufficient, if you do need to animate something, do it with images, it's a lot easier to deal with and a lot more sensible. Not to mention that most people don't have the 500+ MB of RAM most webmasters have. Flash is and probably will always be a resource hog. |
Okay. Sorry.

Like it or not, colors have a huge psychological impact. I'll agree with you on the flash though... In most cases it's very poorly done, and serves no real purpose. |

So, would you say that MatrixContent is Good Content? |
Has anyone done an experiment ?
Week 1: Nicely designed graphical site tour. Week 2: Lean, clean html/css site tour. Which converted best ? |

I think Matrix Content is a great content supplier, their images are high quality, a great selection and a fair price. Problem is, that when your content hits the market and is pretty much flooded in every TGP known to man kind, your product, no matter how great, ends up being watered down. |

Aww, upset over a little constructive criticism. Did it hit too close to home?

Design is important. But it depends on what you call design.
AIDA was something I learnt way back and it still works. Attention the initial impact, that gets the guys: Interest to go further and arouse his; Desire to go into Action, get his CC out or move in the direction you want. Now this has to be a mixture of the right images that fit the niche, the correct wording and clear directions. Unfortunately some designers thinks it's flashy pages with clever Flash and Swish images scrolling on the screen. They are thinking like a designer when they should be thinking like a wanker. Scuse the pun. But the best design in the world, with the greatest traffic will never make a dog turd smell sweet or sell. :1orglaugh |

A slimmed down design will promote the content. Ya gotta read between the lines. :1orglaugh |
