AVN NEWS : Dutch Webmaster Meeting: ?NALEM is Not Welcome?

Quote:

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands?Organizers of the Dutch Webmaster Meeting have announced that their Sept. 16 show in Amsterdam will restrict commercial photography at the event. Only recognized photographers like JFK from Fubar Webmasters, the official Webmaster Meeting photographer, and Baddog will be allowed to take pictures.

?This rule has become effective because visitors at the YNOT Summit [were] unhappily surprised that NALEM made pictures that where sponsored by ICM Registry?s .XXX domains,? the organizers said in a prepared statement. ?A lot of people disliked that and felt uncomfortable. To make the visitors of the Dutch Webmaster Meeting feel comfortable and won?t get a stiff middle finger when showing their feeling towards .XXX, commercial photographing is prohibited. Of course, .XXX people attend the shows and are welcome, but we don?t want visitors that have a strong feeling against .xxx that will be used on pictures? promoting .xxx domains.?

The Dutch Webmaster Meeting is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16 in Amsterdam, in cooperation with Webmaster Access, which takes place September 16?19.

There is only 1 JFK, about time Show people take a step on who they allow to cover their event.

Hopefully WA Amsterdam goes the same direction with the 1 and only JFK :pimp

So let me get this straight...

A bunch of pornographers can't get together to form an action plan on how to save the industry, battle tubes or piracy, defeat XXX, change the distribution model or any number of other more important issues facing this industry on the whole BUT they can issue press releases, and ban, some guy taking a few fucking pictures at conferences?

Unbelievable.
:2 cents:

iamtam 06-29-2011 01:17 PM

time for gfy to figure it out and ban the nalem idiot, which is something most of the other boards have already done.

he announced his plans/intentions when things were already in motion I guess

epitome 06-29-2011 02:27 PM

I hope NALEM got paid upfront.

Can't stand him, but can't stand Stuart Lawley more.

It's fun when he loses money.

I hope this .XXX is one big exercise for Lawley on how not to spend your money.

Perhaps banning .xxx, i.e. ICM from shows, boards, magazines, sponsorships across the board, isolate them like they do not exist. Monitor them, but drop the platform they have to spew their BS and propagate more sales for themselves.

Barefootsies is right in the sense that banning some dimwit photog will have little affect. Banning a business, making them persona no gratis at anything adult would, in my opinion be an effective start.

Rochard 06-29-2011 02:37 PM

About time someone said something about this. I was pissed every time I saw one of them with their shirts....

Bullshit. You know how it works. Bash them today, and then do business with them next week.

ottopottomouse 06-29-2011 02:46 PM

'Press release' text sounds very much like just quoting something written as a reply in another thread.

Regardless of your position on dot XXX Rochard, it was good meeting you ... and that last sentence defines this industry and specifically the majority on the boards.

Tasty1 06-29-2011 03:06 PM

I sent in a press release. .xxx promised that .xxx will get you a lot of promotion.
And it does :)

But banning icmregistry at shows, won't work. I am sure there will be promoters, domainers, webmasters, affiliate programs, pornstars, traffic companies, hosting companies, payment companies that will support .xxx or at least use .xxx domains. And that people might want to come to a show for more information. But using pictures of people to promote .xxx is not done. Especially when Ynot turned down sponsorship.

brassmonkey 06-29-2011 03:07 PM

dayum leave the camera at home.

AndreaM 06-29-2011 03:44 PM

In Jay and Connor's defense - they had no idea that Nalem was shooting for .XXX until they arrived in San Francisco. They were mid-travel when it was announced.

In defense of all the shows that allow ICM to participate - there is no benefit to keeping them away. Attempting to sweep them under the rug by pretending they don't exist, not only won't make ICM go away, it WILL serve to make us complacent about it as an industry.

And - as much as I really hate .XXX - in defense of Vaughn Liley - he's a decent guy who has some serious balls to keep showing up to every show and tell his side of things - and for the most part, does so with tremendous grace.

I suppose my point is - you all hate on the "sellouts" now - because they're in your face - which keeps the issue in your face, and that's a good thing. Once people stop talking about it - or it gets swept under the rug, complacency about the issue itself will set in - and that is when the REAL threat of .XXX can begin to become a reality.

Well stated Andrea :thumbsup

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 03:52 PM

Well Julius should be the only one shooting pics/video's for any convention.
He is/should be the only one be allowed to cover any serious webmaster access/convention.

Easy as 1,2,3, just one official press coverage, thread closed.

OK let the flaming be started.

well Baddog and other would-be "reporters", I do not mind you taking a picture/movie from me, but publishing it on the web is not what I desire, so without my approval you are violating my privacy.

Then I suggest you read what you sign, and if you find a photo of yourself that you want taken down, notify the website owner. :2 cents:

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 04:13 PM

No it is the other way around, you are NOT allowed to show my picture on the web without my approval.
And if you do NOT take this seriously just check the Dutch Law about it, before entering my country.

Do not try to be clever old man, the Dutch Law is on my side, just give me a reason to get you burned.
Just publish one picture on the web without my approval and ..................

I do not want anybody except Julius to publish any pictures/footage of me during any adult event on Ze Interwebs, period
