They make $12 a day. You say that's $.50 per hour of work.
Might want to rethink that one again :winkwink: |
HAHAHAHAHA, probably funded by Obama's stimulus fund

Bush, McCain, and whoever the fuck else is just as corrupt as Clinton, Obama... and the rest of em... Wake the fuck up already, how can you not see through the bullshit? |
the problem is we, in the US will never do a job that doesnt pay 2x what it should.
people here complain all the time they deserved to get paid more, but in reality, they should be paid LESS :2 cents: |
$I.00 an hour is less than most US workers cost their employers in health care. And about what a US employer has to match just for the employees FICA contribution.
There is no way a US employer can meet the requirements to pay a decent wage, pay FICA, and the benefits demanded by our society when that same society accepts goods made from countries with none of the US requirements. . |

For California, of all states, with the high/expensive to conform to environmental and workers benefits laws to allow a foreign country with none of these mandatory expenses to bypass them with a foreign product is hypocrisy in it's highest form. Pitiful.

The Transcontinental Railroad completed on May 10, 1869 was built with cheap Chinese Coolie and Irish labor and USA survived it ...
|
it is looking pretty pimp. i took a helicopter over the construction.
|
How the fuck can China be making such shit? They are known for cheap shit, not important stuff that requires precision.

$12 a day may seem low but the measure should be comparative purchasing power.

Quote:
if obama did fund it, then good for him because he just saved the american people billions of dollars on lazy american workers and corrupt contractors.. :thumbsup but of course he didnt and you would still complain that he was spending too much if he went with US companies and workers.. you need to grow up and start focusing your energy on the whole rather than your guy isn't as good as my guy nonsense that you preach so much... you and that other fucking idiot 12 hammers.. :2 cents: . |
Vendzilla do you think before you post?

What IS the comparative purchasing power? What does a day's wage or $12 buy for these workers?

Make china pay the same federally mandated minimum wage we require. Make china figure in the same 15% FICA taxes on payroll. Make chinese factories pay for and comply with the same environmental impact studies and requirements of our own factories. Make chinese employers follow the same overtime laws, the same benefit packages, the same OSHA laws ???. Suddenly the playing field is level. For US consumers to revel in lower prices based on standards we deem unacceptable on our own land is hard to comprehend. The only explanation is we value nature and human beings that aren't American as beneath us. We will save money by ignoring the minimum standards we require of ourselves. . |
and some people still ask, how is chine such great economy, economy of working 1$ hour people, real heros of modern world...

chinese goods= any number of bills and laws signed, mostly beginning with ronnie raygun (japanese steel) and continuing with bush, clinton (nafta) etc allowing for a)cheap importation of goods b)subsidizing exportation of factories overseas to make goods for slave wages which are then exported back to the U.S. i find this story really amazing because as far as chinese goods are concerned, so far china has exported toxic lead contaminated toys and drywall to the u.s. causing millions of dollars in damages, sickness etc. so they are trusting these people to build a bridge that cars actually go over :1orglaugh |

I'm kind of confused how this works.
Home Depot is in trouble for using foreign products for government contracted jobs. This job, and many others, seem to be government contracted jobs as well and clearly are using foreign constructed products. Why aren't they in trouble? Anyone know how that full law works? Something about "Buy American" and it was created in the 30s. |

I went thru it as a Elevator Constructor, they started using pre fab Escalators, we pretty much just had to drop them in place and plug them in, a weeks work for what use to be 6 weeks. NOw they can build pre fab 15 story buildings in China in six days |
It helps to step outside the box and see the big picture. Greed isn't the reason our U.S. government has consistently given China more rope for U.S. imports of chinese goods.
As far as companies fucking up and doing major damage to people and property, that's been going on since business began, in any country. No administration in the last 20 years has cared about public safety enough to beef up the USITC to stop these products from entering the U.S. in the first place. just sayin :winkwink: |
LIke we didn't already see that on yahoo news.

we always blame china, but at the root of the import is an american company that doesnt give a fuck... :2 cents: i have friends that work for US companies that have their products manufactured in china because of the cheap labor and non existent EPA that lets factories run as polluted and unsafe as they want.. they tell me they have been in factories that are miles long and spit out products at a price that the US factories could only dream about competing with.. and you know what.. this is all being done with the blessing of the US govt.. someday our future sons and daughters will look back on what our govt has done in terms of building china into the empire it is and will become and curse our generation for stupidity.. allowing the govt and large corporations to act without impunity for the sake of greed will ultimately be the downfall of our status as the greatest nation in history.. its a shame... :2 cents: and guys like vendzilla will be at fault because instead of fighting for a bigger purpose, they continue to subscribe to what the media pitches them and that is to blame an administration rather than the whole entity... . |

all of these laws that have been passed have basically sucked the factory blood out of the u.s. and none of these govt. assholes are going to do anything about it because they're all making too much money because of it. Quote:
not knocking it mind you, but there have been many great civiliations before... |

When have you seen me praise the GOP? and you have the clairvoyant power to determine where I preach, you're so diluted by the two party system that those that are against the Obamanation are clearly the enemy Grand Old Party, when in fact there are more independents than either party. If you had brain cell one, and read more than the ingredients of a twinkie wrapper, you would know that..... |
funny enough, that worker is actually making a pretty good living compared to his costs of living.
