THE 2004 EARTHQUAKE/TSUNAMI On 26 December 2004, following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, the Maldives were devastated by a tsunami. Only nine islands were reported to have escaped any flooding, while fifty-seven islands faced serious damage to critical infrastructure, fourteen islands had to be totally evacuated, and six islands were destroyed - A further twenty-one resort islands were forced to close because of serious damage. The total damage was estimated at more than 400 million US dollars, or some 62% of the GDP. A total of 108 people, including six foreigners, reportedly died in the tsunami. - The destructive impact of the waves on the low-lying islands was mitigated by the fact there was no continental shelf or land mass upon which the waves could gain height. The tallest waves were reported to be 14 feet (4.3 m) high |

If the power fails while you sleep then you die of suffocation since no air
is being pumped in. Plus I hate having some bulgy eyed fish watching me fuck. |
I was in the Indian Ocean in 1979 and 1980, in Diego Garcia
|
So is it going to end up as the second lost Atlantis?
|
Sleeping in would never work without some sort of blinds to cover the sunlight. Would be really cool to stay in once if that's at a hotel, but not in my home.

I'm terrified of sea monsters, just looking at this photo gives me anxiety and shivers.

I would love just one night ...or long afternoon...there with the right person.

HA! I found another crazy underwater experience.
The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant http://conradhotels1.hilton.com/ts/e...rant_ithaa.jpg http://conradhotels1.hilton.com/en/c...LEHICI&id=din2 Both the suite and restaurant are at the Conrad Rangali Island Maldives Hotel and apparently the restaurant was built about six years ago and is sometimes converted into a suite. How much is that for the night? |
