All fun and games until it gets a leak. Also, didn't a Jaws movie have a scene like this? If I recall it did not end well :)

THE 2004 EARTHQUAKE/TSUNAMI

On 26 December 2004, following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, the Maldives were devastated by a tsunami. Only nine islands were reported to have escaped any flooding, while fifty-seven islands faced serious damage to critical infrastructure, fourteen islands had to be totally evacuated, and six islands were destroyed
- A further twenty-one resort islands were forced to close because of serious damage. The total damage was estimated at more than 400 million US dollars, or some 62% of the GDP. A total of 108 people, including six foreigners, reportedly died in the tsunami.
- The destructive impact of the waves on the low-lying islands was mitigated by the fact there was no continental shelf or land mass upon which the waves could gain height. The tallest waves were reported to be 14 feet (4.3 m) high

Isn't this the small country that is going to be underwater shortly?

I went to the Maldives last year, it's the most breathtaking place I have ever been in my life. Flying in is incredible. I will be going back within the next 2-3 years. We had a beach villa with hot tun on the deck, was great!

This location is quite beautiful. I don't think it's insane. Fish can be seen swimming through the water through the ceiling in lighting. The lighting effects look quite good.

I got married there once! The food was great, the sport fishing was out of this world and the prices high. Im glad i visited the place but have no great need to go back. You want an experience you will never forget take a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Out of all the places i have visited this stands out as the most amazing experience of my life.

what would be really cool is to build the same idea but instead of glass use banks of lcd tv's so you can recreate the same effect in a safe place, plus you could swap out the images to be say in the antarctic or in africa surrounded by tigers, on a space ship travelling through space etc etc

The Ghost 04-15-2011 09:31 AM

Maldives is at the top of the list of where to visit next.

chaze 04-19-2011 03:10 AM

That would be cool, but good luck building it.
