Does anybody take Xbiz awards seriously?
Are the nominees supposed to reflect the 'best of the best' or just 'average to slightly below average'?
|
I'm sure all the winners, past, present and future do:thumbsup
|
Sometimes they show who is hot currently, otherise its just an ego boost.
|
What kind of due diligence goes into picking nominees?
|
I don't want to cause drama but one of the web design nominees caught my attention, because I know at least half a dozen better designers that post on this forum.
Do you have to pay for a nomination? Is it like advertising? |

nominations were open to the public. you actually ahve to be nominated by someone to be considered.
|
We do our very best to recognize the best.
2011 pre-nominations were submitted through XBIZ.net. Every year, we update the process. Got suggestions? email me - alec [at] xbiz. |
Many do, many more probably don't. I have no problem with it but it means little to me whether someone is nominated or wins an award.
|
it doesn't effect my decision...

See siggy :)

Personally I couldn't care less.

Xbiz > avn
Real question is.. Does having a Xbiz award get you more work? Or sell more movies etc.. |
Awards are what they are , a little fun and a little praise and back slapping , I dont think many take them serious.

Claudia Marie's a cool chick. Good luck :thumbsup |
XBiz awards are just ok. I make more off of unknown models and rising starlets who have solo sites and live cam shows.

I take the awards seriously for several reasons.
First, its a great show. I've attended the awards for many years now and Kristen, Helmy and the gang always go out of their way to make sure it's more than good. The venues are as beautiful as the ladies, and everyone is made to feel like a big shot. We had been nominated a few times in the past and last year we won. (We were also nominated for 2 awards at the upcoming 2011 awards, woohoo!) When I heard our name announced, I was so nervous that I couldn't find the entrance to the stage and almost missed my chance. When I finally got in front of the mic, I didn't know what to say. I mumbled something and ran off. But still, it was THAT COOL. (As a very nice bonus, Segpay Cathy & Crew had a glass of champagne waiting for me. VERY nice..!) After all these year's we're still a small company next to the big guys out there, so I don't know for sure who voted for us. What I can say for sure though is that it wetted my appetite to make our product better. Celebrating excellence in our industry should be encouraged and the XBIZ Awards does it perfectly. If you haven't had the chance to attend I suggest that you do - I'm sure you'll come to appreciate it as much as everyone else does. |

the only times we were nominated is because some good clients nominated us (and they let me know). If you want to be nominated, simply create a couple accounts at xbiz and nominate yourself. I personally don't have the time or the will to auto-nominate myself, I'd rather see money in my pocket by creating outstanding sites and having the biggest companies in adult as clients than working from time to time and auto-nominate myself with the sole object of displaying some banner for Xbiz.
Besides, ask yourself: do you think someone will think "oooh, I really, really, REALLY feel this strange urge to nominate this outstanding site/producer/designer/whatever"? Of course not, 99% of the nominations are auto-nominations, if not all of them. The above being said, this is nothing against XBiz and I understand some people may feel that displaying that "nomination" banner they may get more business, which is very cool. And if it works for those companies, then my advise would be to go for it. In my case, I might care if I fell I had a chance to win, but I honestly feel nobody can compete with a couple top design companies (not giving names to avoid harming feelings, but we all know who I'm talking about) |
I just wish everyone would stop fucking spamming me with their nomination notifications. We... just... don't... give a fuck
|
I know someone who sells a piece of software that costs $30k/license who was nominated and they got an order because of it so...............................

Hi Will76, No I never asked her about that. What I can say is that we have been working with Segpay for a while now and they have never been late on a single payment, even now during the holidays. Their software is rock solid and support is good too. |
Whatev's...

It only makes sense to reward the people who are your clients...but our nomination and some others I saw on there proves that XBiz does take other factors into account as well. They get thousands and thousands of "pre-nominations" (the process where people nominate you...and you can nominate yourself) And then they pare that down to the actual nominations. Which means just to get that far you have gotten past 99% of the others. Now actually WINNING the award? I don't know. I would think they would be crazy to NOT give every award to one of their advertising partners. It only makes good business sense. I'm just glad to finally get some recognition for what CM has done in 3 short years. :) |
Let me flush toilet first.....No.
|
Nope. Just the same as I wouldn't watch a film and expect anything special because it had won oscars.
