I think that is true to a large extent. But we were nominated this year. Never spent a penny on advertising with XBiz.

We have spent a little here and there advertising with Xbiz, but definately not one of their big customers.

Really? I disagree 100%. It would take away from the value of the award. I know I wouldn't feel good getting it and I would definately not care who won if every advertiser got an award.

It's easy for some people to sit back and claim that it's all fixed, or awards go only to the deepest pockets. I'm willing to bet though that Kristen, Helmy and the rest of the gang don't see it that way and instead put some actual time and effort into their awards. Would they be influenced by big cash money? Maybe, but I doubt it. Awards shows that would "sell" their awards would die a pretty quick death I would think.

Happy New Year All' Yall!

I'm not claiming anything is "fixed". I was pretty damn happy and surprised to get the nomination for Claudia-Marie (she deserves it)

I'm just saying that IF I were a guy who spent a hundred grand a year with XBiz and my site was up for an award...I would pick up the phone and tell Mr. Helmy that I want that award.
Yeah, I'm petty like that.

And if that award did not go to me, but instead went to someone who never spent a penny there? I'd pull my advertising.
Yeah, I'm petty like that.

And I think that most people who spend a lot of money with XBiz do expect a little "reward" and some peer recognition at the end of the day.

I'm just hoping that in the "Milf Website" category that Claudia-Marie is nominated in, that there aren't many big advertisers there.

The two I'm worried about are Lisa Ann and Kelly Madison. They are both up for "Milf Performer Of The Year" as well. So I'm figuring that one of them will win "Performer" and one will win "Site"

But as I said earlier...I'm just very happy that Claudia-Marie got some recognition. We work damn hard and it's difficult to get any industry appreciation when you aren't living in California.

So thank you XBiz!

We do an awards every year and every year someone has some compliant. Mostly I hear "You have to advertise to win a Cybersocket award". It is true we can't nominate you if we don't know you or your company. But we do give awards to those who don't advertise.. And we like to do the awards, as it brings the industry together and gives acknowledgment to those who deserve it!

2011 pre-nominations were submitted through XBIZ.net.

Every year, we update the process.

Got suggestions? email me - alec [at] xbiz.

Nominations through XBiz.net was very confusing for me. I have an account and could never figure out how to nominate. It just brought me in a big circle. Maybe next year you could make nominating a bit more user friendly? Or am I just a tard and no one else had any trouble...? :2 cents:

Awards mean nothing.
I know girls up for two awards for having the "Best Websites"
One has 50 members the other close to 100.

lol

It is what it is.
a popularity contest.

I always liked the Xbiz Awards, and now even more that we've got nominated again :):thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

JustDaveXxx 12-31-2010 04:30 PM

Should have a category for "Best Content Shooter"
Just sayen..

Awards are kinda cool. But I don't base my existence on awards.

At the end of the day I seem to make more that 95% of the people that win these awards.:2 cents:

They have to choose a winner right, so not everyone is going to go home happy. Not sure about the nomination process though, but just running an ad doesn't get you one. Congrats to the winners though!

Who will the XBIZ Awards curse this year? It is inevitable that one or more companies will win and then close shop and rip off a bunch of people within 60 days of the win.

I love how a company that has been operational for three months can get an award that spans the entire year. You should at least have to be operational 183 days or more before being being eligible for a win. Otherwise, the new and widely hyped companies with no proven track record are bound to be nominated for being fresh on people's minds.

any additional exposure for a business is a good thing.

I can only speak for myself and say it would be a great honor if small company like mine was to win an award.

HerPimp 12-31-2010 09:52 PM

That award sitting on a sponsors site is a red flag to close the window.

fris 12-31-2010 10:03 PM

didnt split infinity win the same award like 3 years in a row when clearly they didnt deserve it?

That's what I used to think until I made the list... Maybe Xbiz is sympathizing with the hard working one man webmaster shop this year?
