Well....one of you "Amigos" caused me an inconvenience. Got past my firewall and I have been since around 7:00 AM until about an hour ago, stabilizing my computer system. Better luck next time as I did not have to reformat. To the proud actor/actors that did this just remember what goes around comes around.

My guess is, he just got himself a firewall... is getting hit with 10 pings an hour, and is scared shitless thinking his whole life is about to disappear, when the hackers delete his identity like in "The Net"

I do not want to say what was done or in answer to another question say what firewall I am using. This may not be over with so I do not want to help the attacker out. I will say that I upgraded my firewall to the newest version which I hope will prevent another invasion.

If they got root (or adminaxx in win) I would reinstall everything since nothing can be trusted anymore.

Make sure its hardware firewalls and not Black iCe or whatever is out now.

Hardware firewalls only, run a back up software one for extra sleep at night.

and never leave your machine on while youre out.

Well the "Amigos" caused me more problems than I thought. I just thought I had stabilized my system. I started developing multiple blue screen crashes daily (I was using Win 98 2nd Edition). I had to reformat and I installed Win 2000 Pro (most software will work with Win 2000 Pro now). About sixteen hours spent getting everything reinstalled yesterday and still doing some tweaking today. Who ever did it to me, no xmas present from me. :1orglaugh

win98? ouch.. it was a flood for sure...

Must be a hacker. Whoever heard of Win98 SE crashing multiple times daily?

I'm curious as to how you ascertained that it was someone from this board and not just a random kid playing around to see what he could find.

This was after I was hacked. Prior to that time I had a blue screen crash maybe once or twice per month. After I was hacked I could not even reboot until I finally corrected enough of the problems to be able to reboot. I then did additional repairs and thought I had stabilized the system, but I didn't, enough files had been destroyed or altered that too many problems were occurring, thus I reformated. I am 99.9% sure it was a hack and not a virus I picked up, but my firewall logs were erased and my firewall was disabled so I can't be 100% certain. With the firewall logs having been erased and the firewall having been disabled I am convinced that it was a hack.

I cannot be 100% certain of anything. If I were I would retaliate.

Yet you are certain enough of the evidence to blame the "amigos" whom you have labelled in other threads..

I doubt any of those you label amigos have the ability to hack anything....

What, in your opinion, is a real OS? One that is compatible with a majority of available software?

By the way, for those of you that are curious, the firewall was Zone Alarm Pro. It was disabled and would no longer function and the logs were destroyed. I have a different firewall system now but I will not identify what I am using now.

I was using win2k in 99. it worked great except for a few video games. I currently still have a machine with win2k on it and another with XP. Both have no problems and no "mainstream" software has problems that I have noticed.

Learn to read. I used Win 2000 Pro when it first became available on my machine. I switched back to Win 98 because of software compatibility issues. I have now installed Win 2000 Pro because software compatibility is not a problem any longer. In addition I am using my dad's machine and Win 98 and Zone Alarm is what he had installed on it.

I too used Win 2000 on my own personal machine when it first became available. I do not play games. I had software compatability issues, maybe you did not use the software that I was interested in using. I did not see any need to upgrade my dad's machine as everything was working well until I was hacked. Why would I fix it if it wasn't broke? I cannot be certain who hacked my computer, but I have, and am entitled to my suspicions. If I were certain the retaliation would be the persuit of a criminal charge not fucking pinging.

If you truly believed one of your "Amigos" hacked a PC you posted with, why would you acknowledge it? If you are on DSL there is a lot of information in your IP address.
