oh shit check out this new GFY sponser
|
damn i wanna know too
|
Can't be....
|
I can see TGP owners doing this to all the galleries on their site, but I doubt it would be worth it. Random banners have an extremely low click-thru and they don't sell very well even when a surfer clicks through.
|
Well it doesn't actually alter the google page. It sends the surfer through a proxy which in turn shows the banner on top while browsing a particular web site.
|
I don't see anything illegal about it. But its definitely trouble. Just another reason for people to hate porn sites.

to a page.. nothing illegal here.. |
very compelling...

dought it but i wish i came up with the idea.
|
Hmm i dont even need a proxy, could do it with php. :) Anyone interested?
|
good. the more annoying it is for people surfing for free porn the better.
|
someone can steal space on your own website

This is the next Gator
Hello lawsuits |
3 out of 10 is a small percentage???

The best investment for the geniuses who invented this would be a lawyer. The one internet trick that has been prosecuted by the FCC with some regularity is exactly what this program promises to do:
"when you try to follow a link to another site you are sent back to this page". |

illegal?? why?
you can also add f.e. a banner by a frameset... that's in fact the same result... |

Using XITESŪ you can insert your or your sponsor's banner code into the HTML code of other websites without the owners cooperation. Simply specify the location of your banner and the URL to link it to on our simple registration form and we will provide you with one simple line of code that you can add to the HTML code of your links. After you add the XITESŪ code to your links the surfer will see your banner on top of every page he visits after passing through your website for the rest of his browsing session. :feels-hot |

Fight Geek with Geek.
Type in www.gibhar.com (my domain) into their box =) http://www.xites.com/i?sssid=18&h=www.gibhar.com&url=/ More to come :P |
To summarize this...
Someone can send a surfer to our sites using this and 1. put their banner on top 2. remove our banners 3. disable our popups 4. people that click on our text links are sent back to their site and, of course 5. filter adult content... LOL Or am I missing something here? |

its close and similar but this shit hell of alot more intrusive |
it's different with frames. You can put a code to break out of frames automatically. If this xites things ends up getting pretty big, you'll see a lot of deep site hyperlinking laws being enforced.

this is so similar to that new microsoft thingie they was gonna add to the browser,, what was it called smart text or something like that,,,
all the negative press made them stop adding it to the browser |
believe me, these guys will end up getting sued to hell as soon as this program begins to take off
its quite simple really...you CANNOT alter the content of another website witout their permision, and that is what these guys are basically doing. Its a great idea, but it will never stand up in court. Any lawyer with half a brain can screw these guys over. It is only a matter of time. |
|
This is so unoriginal it's not funny... all they have is a page being requested through their page and a banner is being added to the top and the urls changed...
All I know is that it sucks to be them when it comes time to pay the bandwith bill... |
......stay tuned.....

Only other advantage they have on inserting banners into other peoples site is that they'll be able to track as well, but i can never see it taking off...
|
Again, the main point is being missed....the program can replace banners AND it can do this:
"when you try to follow a link to another site you are sent back to this page". This IS illegal and there are cases on record showing successful prosecution by the FCC. |
Their php script gets the page, inserts their banner (VERY crudely), and gives you the output.
1) All requests go through their server... which requests the document.... then displays to surfer (so x2 as sloooow minimum). 2) they can spoof the referer with this, (currently set to http://) 3) they can't spoof the IP they request the page from. 4) If you have their IPs, you can block this. http://www.xites.com/i?sssid=18&h=www.gibhar.com&url=/ :-) ta da. |
