Do yoy gave respect for ppl who serve in the military?

Do you have respect for ppl that serve in the military? Or what?

Iron Fist 05-11-2008 07:20 PM

Respect as in free memberships or high five respect?

Grapesoda 05-11-2008 07:20 PM

yeow zir!!! I wanted to serve and they wouldn't let me :

farkedup 05-11-2008 07:25 PM

it depends really, the respect isn't just a given with ANYBODY, we have just as many dipshits in the military simply because they have no other options as we have the real respectable people.

Do I feel bad for them? Hell yeah... getting conned into a military invasion off of false promises and pretenses... Every "normal" person I know that went in was saying how they were promised to not be anywhere near the real danger just for a couple of them to get hurt anyway... Friend of mine even DIED over there... and for what?

aico 05-11-2008 07:26 PM

Depends on the person. A person can be in the military and still be a complete douche bag.

Spunky 05-11-2008 07:27 PM

God bless the vets..of course I do

Evil E 05-11-2008 07:28 PM

Well they get a license plate...

dav3 05-11-2008 07:29 PM

Yes, because it's no easy task to put up with bullshit that most of them have to endure everyday.

I don't, however, agree with the way the military force is abused by those in power.

crockett 05-11-2008 07:30 PM

of course.

ChefJeff 05-11-2008 07:53 PM

What if someone in the adult industry did it to do his/her part as a gesture to show their gratitude for our freedoms?

Many of us allready have.

IllTestYourGirls 05-11-2008 07:59 PM

Of course. I would have joined but I hated the policies of Clinton's nation building and the follow through of that same policy by Bush. I have had friends die in Iraq and a few there right now and one that is home now. They joined to protect the USA constitution but never really thought they would be used in this fashion. :disgust

OG LennyT 05-11-2008 08:08 PM

I'm a vet, so yeah.. I guess I do :)

GetSCORECash 05-11-2008 08:17 PM

My nephew recently enlisted. So yes, I have respect for those who commit to defending this great nation.

Afganistan was a just war, as it was the only way to go after bin laden.

Idiot.

I was one those who had no other real option at the time. At age I was drug addict, strung out, stealing loose change from my minimum wage job at a dry cleaners to get by. By chance I ran into a Marine Corps recruiter I know, and forty-eight hours later I was at Paris Island knowing that my father - and his father before him - had both died in combat as US Marines.

Every day of my life I am thankful that I joined. It gave the morals and values I have today, made me who I am, and I now know that I can do anything I set my mind to.

I never saw combat, so you don't owe me jack shit. But your welcome anyhow.

Living in San Diego, loaded with active duty military (and retirees, too), I respect and voice my gratitude to any/all of them, and often. I belong to a running club that has lots of military folks of all ranks in it, many of whom have served repeated overseas tours ---I worry about them just like I did for my own soldiers when I was a Unit Commander with the 4th Inf Div during the enemey's Tet Offensive in Vietnam. No matter what politics you or I hold/feel, the troops are a cross-section of society who deserve our good wishes for their personal well-being; IMHO, they ARE America!!!

Spunky 05-11-2008 08:44 PM

It takes a different person to be able to do that, firefighters and cops also get the same respect.I know I don't have the balls to do that and they all should be commended on their bravery

Reading comprehension problems?

Ayla_SquareTurtle 05-11-2008 08:48 PM

Being in the military isn't a requirement for respect from me. I would say that it's not a factor at all. It has to do with a much bigger picture of who you are as a person.

tony286 05-11-2008 08:51 PM

Ive met some that get my respect and some that dont. Just like regular people.I have to say one thing for the marines, Ive had all types of people stay at my house inlaws, models, friends. The only person who made their bed and left the room neater than they got it was a marine.

None at all. I just don't understand what freedom the military is fighting for, that's all.

And btw, I have no respect for bitches like you. I do pity you though.

I normally do not engage in intercourse with the ignorant but it is apparent that you do have a reading comprehension problem..."show their gratitude for our freedoms". Since the revolution our military has been fighting for our freedoms...a show of gratitude by patriots is appropriate.

As for your extraneous remarks...I do not need or desire respect or pity from you...thank you very much.

ChefJeff 05-11-2008 09:22 PM

I must have been in a hurry to post the thread topic... LOL... WTF? LOL

Vendzilla 05-11-2008 09:23 PM

I'm a veteran of the Submarine Service, My daughter is in the Navy getting ready for a 6month trip to the gulf.
I'm proud my daughter wanted to do this, she's getting a good education in electronics.

I can't speak for other countries, but in the US, people should have respect for the people that serve, got problem with the government? different people!

:thumbsup for coming out a better man.

Mutt 05-11-2008 09:25 PM

yes of course - i have a ton of respect for anybody who serves in the military - moreso when they have other options and choose to serve.

but as somebody else posted there are plenty of assholes and criminals in the military just like in any other group of people.

When your in the US military, you don't get to pick and choose who and when you fight. You serve at the pleasure of the President; You go when your told to go and you fight who your told to fight. The US military doesn't practice democracy, the protect it.

Firemen and police officers should get the most amount of respect. They run into burning buildings, save lives, and get spit on when they try to break up domestic disputes - not to mention they got shot at.

Ha, it took me twenty years to break myself of that habit and letting my wife make the bed.

Marines like neatness and order. You should see my home office; If one thing is out of place I freak out.

Pnk XXX 05-11-2008 09:36 PM

not at all

they are merely puppets fighting for a countries capitalistic conflicts and gain.

these days they will accept almost any schmuck into the US military.
lets see how they attract these peons:
instant signup bonuses
pay your college tuition or put $ towards
advertising and appealing to minorities and the lower class
advertising on public radio, tv commercials, movie theaters, public billboards, etc.

the US military is designed to attract people with no other place to go, minorities, the lower class.

why should I give a person respect who solely joined the military bc they were going no where in life and signed their life away to the government to waste 4 yrs of their life for a petty $4k signup bonus for the Army?

not to mention how much army recruiters will lie to your face and on paper and do almost anything to get you to join. I went and took the ASFAB test when I was in high school for shits and giggles and my recruiter lied about me having ADHD on paper bc he said they would prob deny me if he marked it down, LOL!

God bless the troops!

:rolls eyes:

also take a look @ how the US military takes care of its vets. look up the # of vets that returned home from Vietnam to end up homeless. I believe the current stats is 1 out of every 4 homeless person has served in the US military. ?

Enlisted in '69 and did six years of Army. Great training, great experience and travel.

I ended up in Japan and Korea instead of Vietnam. Spent time as intelligence analyst, running investigations, security NCO at missile depot, recruiter/career counselor, and infantry sergeant. Turned down E-6 twice due to upcoming ETS future plans.

No regrets.:thumbsup

And, hell yeah, they all get my respect. If you don't think they deserve it, visit a veteran's hospital or military hospital for a day. It will change your life.

Your right the government gives them nothing but lip service. How they think the current admin is pro military because they talk god bless the troops boogles my fucking mind. Then give them not enough the body armor, soldiers have died taking showers in iraq because of cheap wiring and they cut benefits on them. While we were all seeing that Rev Wright bullshit played again and again Memo's have showed up that W knew and approved all the torture happening at that prison and they let those soldiers hang in the breeze and now they sit in jail when they were doing what the admin wanted. Its a shame they give so much and get fucked in return for the most part.

Peaches 05-11-2008 09:55 PM

As the daughter and mother of former members of the Air Force, yes. And I will go out of my way to thank a military member for serving as my country's defense, I don't care if they're an asshole or not.

My Dad went in with an MBA and a degree in engineering. And I certainly didn't see ANY of what you're describing at my son's basic training or technical school graduations.

Antonio 05-11-2008 09:56 PM

lol, what for? just because they were in the army? I was in the army and I'm a total prick, you want respect - you must earn it.

If I have to give respect blindly I'd give it to doctors and teachers, they help people, soldiers - they kill people, out of the last 200 wars there aren't more than 3 that you can call just

That was how many years ago? They recently dumbed down the requirements because they couldnt meet goals.

HOOYAH SUBMARINES!!!!

I myself am also a submarine vet, (four years) what I can say is, although the military wasnt for me (basically because I hate being told what to do), it showed me a lot of values and strengths in myself that I didnt know existed. I learned more than I could have ever imagined, made friends I still talk with regularly, and gave me a new found respect for my country.

Speaking for myself...the only bone that I have to pick with the military...is that they forced me to be medically discharged...but other than that...medical care...benefits etc...I am more than satisfied.
