John McCain no idea how to fix the economy

He gave a speech where he said some random mumbo jumbo about having a big economy and thats pretty much the same as a good economy..... then he went on to say we buy a lot of oil from people that do not like us.

If you were to make a big ass list of "things" about the candidates I would like more of these things about McCain than the other two, but is anything more important than the economy right now? He really doesn't have a clue.

Socks 03-24-2008 11:20 PM

I can't believe the republicans nominated him as their successor to bush.. The guy looks at least 3x as scary, he's old, looks like he smells (on purpose?) and not only did they choose him... it was a landslide.

And... he might win.

ProjectNaked 03-24-2008 11:21 PM

come on, you think any president has a clue? They are just the figurehead. Do you seriously think those who hold the power in this country are gonna leave it up to some new douche bag every 4 years?? Think of the US as a business and it will become clear to you.

Cash 03-24-2008 11:53 PM

They just want to be in the history books as presidents ...

V_RocKs 03-25-2008 12:00 AM

Mkae the economy a wiki... Then it will fix itself!

pocketkangaroo 03-25-2008 12:07 AM

Don't be silly, he knows a lot about how the economy works.

Rochard 03-25-2008 12:11 AM

Fucking Hillary will be much too busy dodging imaginary sniper fire to fix our economy.....

He's almost 80 years old. That's not the age, nor the time at which one should lead a country.

Nikki_Licks 03-25-2008 05:50 AM

He is a representative of the State of Arizona and this state has misplaced 2 billion Dollars. Now they are scrambling to find ways to have us pay for their thieving asses. I doubt this guy has any clue about running a country.

He has sold Arizona down the river way too many times, he flip flops and I believe he has no hard stance on any issue except he was some war hero.

Holy shit!

teg0 03-25-2008 06:17 AM

No way I could ever vote for him. Just the same shit for another 4 years. Also being a POW = mission failed.

Calling a POW a failure is out of line.

I'm not voting for him either, but I respect his service.

He volunteered for combat duty, unlike those who used family connections to avoid active duty, and suffered as a POW for years when he could have been released (due to his father's position) while others were imprisoned.

IllTestYourGirls 03-25-2008 07:34 AM

Sadly only one person knew how to fix things and he was laughed off the stage. Now we have the dems who think spending 280 billion more a year and a republican who thinks more war will fix it.

jpwhits 03-25-2008 07:54 AM

Michael Bloomberg anyone?

notoldschool 03-25-2008 07:59 AM

Dumb Americans who like to be spoon fed from the media get what they deserve. :2 cents:

pornask 03-25-2008 08:10 AM

McCain has wicked supporters though :1orglaugh

dready 03-25-2008 08:15 AM

He's already admitted more than once he doesn't know anything about economics.

cherrylula 03-25-2008 08:19 AM

The President doesn't really do anything besides give speeches and tell bad jokes. He doesn't control the economy and cannot really fix anything. He does what his party wants him to do, he makes people money, he sets himself up for when he is out of office.

McCain wasn't a bad looking guy when he was younger. The President is more of a national mascot or hero than someone who does a job to actually benefit the people.

Do you know how much $$$ has been made from things like President Bush farting dolls??? Millions. The President cannot fix anything.

It's amazing that Fox news hardly mentions that, yet we have to see imaged of that stupid preacher 24 hours a day.

DaddyHalbucks 03-25-2008 12:16 PM

McCain is no economist, but he knows the root of our problem is too much spending.

pornguy 03-25-2008 12:21 PM

MICKEY FUCKING MOUSE would be better than any of the total morons that will end up winning.

IllTestYourGirls 03-25-2008 12:24 PM

Ya being in Iraq for the next 100 years should help cut spending.

You can't "fix" a market economy. It was up, now it's down, and it will be up again later. Same for centuries

You don't know more about economic cycles, markets, booms and bursts, than McCain. :1orglaugh

The post of President in a democracy is a post of representative, similar to PR, with pre-written speeches. McCain is not applying for a job of economist, investment banker or CEO.

I love the contempt some adult webmasters have for people like them. :1orglaugh

Self-hatred, i said it, i will repeat it.

Drake 03-25-2008 12:38 PM

I don't think the government can really fix the economy, especially an economy that's in the pits due to individuals who made poor choices in investing in homes they couldn't afford, and lenders who deliberately provided people with loans they knew couldn't afford them. This isn't the first time the housing market has doomed itself. It will 'fix' itself over time. Government policies to bail out those unfortunate enough to be on the losing end will not help. It's like getting a financial credit for doing something wrong, and doesn't do anything to resolve the problem. So, on that note, the Democrats appear to have it all wrong.

Cheap houses will eventually be bought up by investors and either rented out or leased and everything will pick up again after this enormous setback. Like the poster above said, it's a cyclical process.

Drake 03-25-2008 12:46 PM

As far as McCain and his war, people often underestimate the other associated costs of war. We're spending trillions on it (sure, a small portion of overall GDP, but it's a lot of money that could be put to better use), dead soldiers, zero progress in the middle east, breeding more terrorists there, instability in that region, skyrocketing oil prices which effects citizens, the decreasing value of the dollar partly because of the domestic economy but also largely part of America's standing worldwide and which effects costs of goods, imports etc.

No you can't. Since we don't have a market economy, your statement is pointless.

We are not a democracy either. Again, statement is pointless.

Politicians have often embellished their past... many have a different account of what really happened to him.. :2 cents:

Was the 2 billion his responsibility?

She actually said yesterday that since the government bailed out bears and stearns and spent some 20 B to pump into the us economy she thought it was only fair if "they" would do the same to save all the homeowners in trouble...
I nearly fell off the couch.. apparently she has NO FUCKING CLUE at all.
Imagine if the US feds had not acted quick to save Bears n Stearn.. the economy would have gone south so fast everyone, not just homeowners with bad credit/cash flow, would have been in for a really really bad couple of years...
