Who on this forum does NOT drink alcohol?

Just curious on what it's like. How's that working out for you? I'm not being sarcastic.

marko13 01-29-2008 02:40 AM

i am not drinking alcohol..... i have some problems with my liver....

stickyfingerz 01-29-2008 02:42 AM

I know of at least 3 or 4. I wont name them though, but they have stated it on here before.

Antonio 01-29-2008 02:42 AM

well, they probably get laid 3 times less than people who drink but then again the chances of waiking up next to a hippo are smaller I guess

Thurbs 01-29-2008 02:50 AM

i pretty much quit the boozing .. I'll have some beer for Super Bowl, some wine with a good steak.

its fine, i get a little agitated at time, but i'm an uppity prick normally anyway :)

mrwilson 01-29-2008 02:52 AM

You dont need to drink to get laid, drinking or not is irelevant.
I met my long time girlfriend when sober.

I drink occasionaly and love it :thumbsup

Voodoo 01-29-2008 02:59 AM

I rarely drink. Used to... but then I grew up and put away childish things.

But pleassse, dont take away my coke :)

bausch 01-29-2008 03:15 AM

I don't drink, I'm a goody two shoes. I never drank as a teenager, never drank after 18, never drank in my early 20's. I just never felt the need to.

I think people get into drinking because they either go clubbing or bars or because their friends drink and got them into it.

I never go clubbing (not even when I was younger) and I never go to bars and I don't have a lot of friends so there's no one to get me into/introduce me to drinking in the first place (not when I was younger either) and I don't really feel an urge to suddenly just start drinking out of the blue when I'm just sitting in front of my pc all day. What would be the point?? There's not really a motivation for me to drink and no reason to. Also I never had lots of friends who drank (because I am more of solitary person). I mean I'm not going to introduce MYSELF to drinking. Another drinker would need to do that.

I'm not a party person. I think drinking is a social thing and I don't socialize. I like to eat though. Eating is fun by yourself. But drinking? Not really.

rowan 01-29-2008 03:23 AM

I stopped at about 25 when I got my driving licence (a little later in life than most) and had to be 0.00 blood alcohol level for 3 years. I wasn't actually barred from drinking, but I'm spontaneous and I didn't want to be in a situation where I couldn't drive somewhere because I'd had a drink 8 hours earlier.

I think I've had a sum total of probably half a glass of spirits in the past few years... :1orglaugh

RomaCash 01-29-2008 03:39 AM

I drink 1( yes only one:) ) bottle of good wine per week.

Violetta 01-29-2008 03:54 AM

I DO drink lots of alcohol. Never understood why not?!

bausch 01-29-2008 03:57 AM

Drinking is for people who like to have fun and party. I HATE to party and I guess you could say I'm not a real fun person. I think drinking and partying goes against my nature. I don't like social rituals. Drinking is like a social thing. Sure people may become conditioned to drinking and start drinking alone etc but I think it's mainly a group activity.

And in case someone didn't get it the first time, I do not like to party, I do not like bars, I do not like to have fun and go wild, I hate partying or anything having to do with interacting with a high number of people. I hate social events!

That is all. I feel better now.

Boobzooka 01-29-2008 04:04 AM

I never drank, or smoked, or use any drugs. Quit caffeine too.
Though I did have a chronic Count Chocula addiction for a while.

xmas13 01-29-2008 04:25 AM

Alcohol is like a religion, alcohol junkies are always trying to convince you that you don't drink nothing if you don't join them, to exercise social pressure.

Reality is otherwise, you don't need alcohol to drink, and you don't need Jesus to believe.

I drink a lot but not alcohol, i believe in many things, not Jesus though, and i prefer to get laid with the same woman.

Sorry. Oh wait, why should i be sorry? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Alcohol+cigarettes+religion= loser toolkit to not suicide himself/herself.

I just have pity for the weak minds.

RedShoe 01-29-2008 04:58 AM

I don't drink. I don't like the taste of alcohol. But if I go to a sporting event I may have one or three. Oh and webmaster gatherings, but it's just so I fit and in and don't get laughed at for drinking water.

I also wear leather jackets and bring a paid whore or two.

StuartD 01-29-2008 04:59 AM

I grew up in a bar.... family owned place up north in a small town. I watched people drink themselves either to death or into a state of constant comatose or into a situation that they'd regret later.
There was never a drunk person that made me think "hey, I want to be like them!"

I guess after years and years of serving these people, I just knew early on that I'd never want to let myself be like any of them were.

So at a convention or social party, I'll have a drink in my hands... but if you watch closely, you'd notice that I probably would only have 3 at most through out an entire night.

Other than a few to be social, I do not drink.
Nor do I smoke or do any other kind of drug.

bausch 01-29-2008 05:14 AM

I am addicted to caffeine though, I cant function in the morning without it, but I only need ONE cup and I'll be ok but I HAVE to have that cup though, I die without it and my eyes feel so heavy like I'm in a sleepy daze without it.

Sarah_Jayne 01-29-2008 05:15 AM

I have about three or four drinks a year. It isn't for any reason other than I just really don't crave the taste of the effects.

Hmmm... yeah, I've never understood that one either.
I don't drink coffee either. Tastes yucky but more so, I could never see myself having to depend on having a cup of something just to function that day.

scottybuzz 01-29-2008 05:26 AM

i drink too much, smoke too much, but this year i am proud of myself as i have really cut down on cannabis. What with having little spare time these days its great! Now its time to cut the smoking and I am happy with just drinking!

Emil 01-29-2008 05:27 AM

I do not drink

right now. ;-)

SuzzyQ 01-29-2008 05:48 AM

Both of us no longer drink. It was a phase in life we out grew. We save tons of $$$$ by not drinking.

bobby666 01-29-2008 06:21 AM

i am drinking almost nothing, just a sixpack/day

Miz_Wright 01-29-2008 06:31 AM

*waves*

Count me in the non-drinking posse.
... and I'll debunk that whole "get laid 3x less" thing 'cos I've not yet had a problem with it. *laugh*

Grapesoda 01-29-2008 06:35 AM

I don't use alcohol, or any other drugs, except caffeine. been clean for over 18 years. -bmb

nico-t 01-29-2008 06:46 AM

i do drink, and at least once a week quite alot, probably too much. Once im drunk i can keep drinking without ever throwing up, i don't have a clear limit anymore... this started about 4 or 5 years ago. It's nice I dont throw up but on the other side, there is no clear limit anymore for what is 'too much'. I can drink myself to having a blackout without ever getting sick... And ofcourse i only notice i drank way too much the next day when i can't remember half the night.

alby_persignup 01-29-2008 06:50 AM

I'd say I drink alcohol but I'm always in moderation. I always prefer drinking beer or wine after eating oily food.

VicD 01-29-2008 06:50 AM

i drink very little alkohol because i drunk to much in the past :)

Holly 01-29-2008 06:58 AM

I basically don't. If it's a special occasion, or more likely, one of my friends guilt trips me about it or "really needs me to have a drink with her, please Holly!".

I'm not opposed to it, or anything, I just suck at it. Usually 2-3 of anything and I pass out, lol.

P.CUBENSIS=D 01-29-2008 07:03 AM

I didn't drink or indulge myself in any 'mind-altering' substance all through out high school and through the age of 18...

I had never had the desire to drink or such prior, been going down to bourbon st. since a wee' little guy, but I guess college and womens finally changed mis attitude a bit :thumbsup

Both very true, yet 'drugs'... I can think of a few things that I would consider the ultimate thinkers' toolbox for opening up ones mind to a land of uncertainty and openness ?!?!?!?!? ...drools... oh yeah, MIND BLOWING! LOL :small-smi

I have headaches when I don't have my cup of coffee, seriously, I just don't feel good. If my life depended on it then YES I could function without it but I just feel so terrible without it like I'm not awake and my eyes feel SO heavy. I cannot do anything without coffee. I can't even DRIVE to Starbucks to buy coffee WITHOUT coffee in my system. I don't even feel like getting dressed and brushing my teeth and WALKING to the car to DRIVE 2 min to Starbucks. There is one 2 min away and yet it is SO painful to go through the process of getting dressed and driving there. I have to have it in my system first before I wash my face, before I brush my teeth, before I check stats and email. I feel so terrible without it. I feel like a dead person without it.

I started when I was young because I would stay up all night studying because I was obsessed with getting the highest grade in the class on certain tests (the teacher would read the grades out loud and my ego would get bigger when I did good), and I would stay up really late studying and get tired. That's when it started, it started in school. And then later on during the years when I worked 9-5 they would always have free coffee and it was what got me through the day. And now I'm just dependent on it.

I actually have withdrawal symptoms when I don't have coffee like headaches and chills. But I only drink 1 cup a day, I don't chug it down all day like some people do.

Fletch XXX 01-29-2008 07:14 AM

this is the definition of addiction

caffeine is a drug and definitely causes withdrawal symptoms. Just like alcohol and any other drug.

"i only do a little crack every day, not all day like everyone"

you cant separate yourself from addicts by "doing a little"

Fletch XXX 01-29-2008 07:17 AM

as far as thread topic goes, I have been totally sober and clean for awhile now.

even cut out redbull and caffeine.
