let me get this straight - the last man went to the moon in 1972????????

man, I'm not much of a conspiracy theories lover but something DOES smell fishy here

bunch of trips b/n 1969 and 1972 and then nothing??? why?

Michaelious 06-15-2007 10:17 AM

Too xpensive and they didn't see the point.

GooSearch 06-15-2007 10:18 AM

cause its all a plot by the man to make you think that we have been to the moon.. when really its a alien spaceship like the death star only smaller

Phoenix 06-15-2007 10:29 AM

yeah why not more moon landings...expecially if they are saying they want to hit mars soon

nosey 06-15-2007 10:30 AM

Take your educated opinion and rational thinking elsewhere please. GFY isn't the place for that.

We are supposed to go back to the moon before 2020.

Let's just hope we don't suffer any more setbacks. The current space station problems are a reminder of how fast things can get derailed.

Tom_PM 06-15-2007 10:50 AM

Budget cuts!
I remember watching the moon landing on our awesome black and white tv. That was when astronauts were REAL hero's, it was amazing.

tranza 06-15-2007 11:00 AM

Because it's useless to go to the moon?

Jimmy Rock 06-15-2007 11:04 AM

I hear yah, it's all faked

fangtastic 06-15-2007 11:05 AM

The moon is so yesterday let's do Venus! LOL

StuartD 06-15-2007 11:06 AM

Because computers and shuttles are far more advanced, smaller and cheaper to make now than they were back when the black and white tv was the best we could do.

D 06-15-2007 11:08 AM

Congress didn't see a whole lot of point in it, and cut funding.... they were just lunar-geological surveys from their point of view.

It was all about getting there before the Russians did, really. Once we did that, the awe wore off, and I guess the realization that they could build more napalm if they cut lunar funding enticed them.

This time, we're planning to go back and stay - build a permanent settlement that we can use to both study the moon and use as a jumping point to other destinations such as Mars.

I think that the only reason we said "in 2018" though is because the Chinese already said "by 2020"

Oh yeah... anyone who believes we haven't really been to the moon hasn't bothered really looking into the matter. Don't be sheep.

After Shock Media 06-15-2007 11:11 AM

Actually just look at the budget NASA gets and you may understand. They have a few more pressing issues and desires to accomplish than to revisit the moon with what limited money they get.

We went, we learned, we put up some mirrors, we know the moon is slowly moving away from us forever, we know it was created when another planet collided with ours, we know it shielded us from an onslaught of cosmic hits in the past, we also know that due to some of earth being up there that massive shit has hit the planet since the moon was formed.

I really hope they do go back because the speculated 1st landing had so much bullshit tied into to it. It be nice to see it all with modern technology.

Nothing conjectural about it.

If it really bothers you, do your homework.

The conspiracy nonsense on the matter is just the result of people vying for attention, imho.

It's that same modern technology that would have conspiracy theorists claiming they didn't go this time either. Some people just refuse to believe and you'll never be able to convince them unless they go themselves.

We are going back to the moon. First we need to get the space station up to snuff. In 2010 the shuttle will be retired. By 2015 we'll have a new vehicle this is the one that will take us to the moon.

ronaldo 06-15-2007 11:36 AM

I have absolutely no doubt that man did go to the moon, but I have serious doubts as to whether they'll actually go again.

Actually there was supposed to be an Apollo 18 but it got cut due to budget cuts. What money was available was being used for things like the Viking and Voyager probes and building the shuttle. So no there isn't any grand conspiracy. At least we went to the moon. The Russians didn't even try.

You said "At least we went to the moon. The Russian's didn't even try."

I really don't want to get in a semantics debate, but that is, plainly, a false statement.

It could be easily argued that if it wasn't for the Russian's determination to get to the moon, we wouldn't have done it, either.

They were the first to put a man in space. The first to achieve an unmanned probe landing on the moon, and achieved lunar orbit with an unmanned probe in preparation for their manned missions.

Not to mention, they lost a notable amount of human life in their persuit of landing a man on the moon.

I'd say that's a far cry from not even trying, as you put it.

Listen don't give me a lecture on the history of space flight. I know this shit already. I was reading up on this stuff while you were shitting in your diapers.

exactly. do you know how much it costs to go to the moon?

SPACE GLIDER 06-17-2007 12:37 AM

I don't think we've ever been. We can barely get a shuttle out of orbit, but in '69 we got something all the way to the moon, then back into space where a portion landed back on Earth. Right.

EBORG9 06-17-2007 12:43 AM

We have enough cheese , right here on Earth.

Anyone that thinks we didn't go to the moon is either not bothering to research the matter, or isn't the brightest crayon in the box.

:2 cents:

DWB 06-17-2007 02:02 AM

Why go to the moon when you can spend the money invading countries, killing their people and ruling the world?

ytcracker 06-17-2007 02:08 AM

thats no moon
its a space station
