Should people with mental problems be allowed to own guns?
I saw CNN or something news channel the other day talking about the Virginia gunman and they were saying the law does not allow you to lock up people with mental problems unless they are a danger to themselves or others. The inferance being that this is a weakness in the law and if you could detain anyone with mental problems things like this wouldn't have happenned!
I was thinking maybe it would be a better idea to just not let people with mental health problems have access to firearms? |
NO. :thumbsup
|
it's not a good idea to allow people have a mental problem to own a gun..coz you'll never know when they are just fine or not..like what happen to virginia tech right..
|
No, of course not.
|
It should be compulsory for all citizens to pack two weapons and four grenades - and let them sort the crap out - it's their "right" :pimp
|
Just pulling the trigger on another person is a sick act, so basically no one should be allowed in the first place.
|
Hell no..they might snap and blow away more innocent people
|
No guns to civilians, only to police and army

i believe there is a question asking if you have ever been diagnosed with a mental illness on the form that you fill out when you get your background check when legaly buying a firearm.
I may be wrong, cant remember if i've ever bought a firearm or not. I may or may not have any guns. |

Ya pretty sure its on the form. Let me see if I can find one. |
Here it is in the law itself.

I don't think anyone should own a gun so....
Seriously whats so fucking great about guns anyways huh? You can buy one for fucking $200, wooooooopeeeetee doooo. Every one can get one, its not that fucking great.. |
of course the mentally ill should be allowed to own guns - how the hell do you think they are supposed to defend themselves against all the people they think are out to get them? i suppose we could license them imaginary guns and teach them how to make bang bang sounds but that would be mocking them and probably against some human rights law.

Hell.. Stupid Sticky is in here as well clogging up threads with his ignorant braincell - and hoping for some biz from his whoring.

Now consider this. If the law abiding people were all carrying guns, would Cho have been able to kill 32 people? I dont think so. Making guns illegal will NOT solve anything. There are already way too many available. Making them illegal will not stop gun crime. Its already illegal to kill people, and that didnt stop murders from happening. Its illegal to drink and drive, doesnt seem to have stopped it. Its illegal to exceed the speed limit, but show me someone here who says they have never been speeding, and I'll point out a liar to you. I'm not saying that making sure everyone is armed would be a better situation, but making guns illegal isnt going to stop things at all. But perhaps if the criminals knew that everyone else was armed, they may reconsider trying to hurt people when they know they would probably get themselves killed before they could finish thier act of crime. |

Of course not but 'mental problems' is very vague.
Should very angry people be allowed to own guns? How about people who haven't been laid in 3 years? Women on PMS? Should we take their guns away once a month? (Actually that's probably a good idea....) |

If you have been diagnosed with a mental illness then you should not be able to own a gun. It is not safe for that person or people around them.
|
absolutely not!!
|
Definitely not!!!
|
Hmmm so if that is written in there (the ATF law...re patients commited...), why are mentally ill folks still allowed to legally obtain guns, such as the most recent VT shootings?
I suppose all they have to do is lie and check off no and the SHAZAM, "here's your gun sir". |
No.
However the Constitution doesn't make the distinction. :2 cents: |
