They wouldn't execute them. They would be asking for war regardless of whether they were guilty or not. And after they got hit with more sanctions today, they aren't going to do anything that extreme.

It said they may go to trial and if so the sentence would be death.May doesnt mean thats going to happen. No one is going to get killed this is a bargaining chip.

One thing I find kind of humorous though. They claim these 15 Brits willingly confessed to a "blatant aggression" against Iran.

There's no way in hell they admitted that. They probably don't even know who's water they were in. So this begs the question, what did the Iranians do to these Brits to force the "confession"?

you do realize there are multiple levels of stupidity right? and from their perspective this isnt that bad a move because iran is in a power position. they know that we'd like to do airstrikes on them, but they know that at the same time we dont want to, and this is a calculated risk that will most likely work out in their favor as long as they dont kill them. if they kill them it's pretty much guaranteed that some shit will get blown up.

and with your narrow understanding of the world, all of the things you sighted right there from their perspective if we're being objective are not stupid things for them to do.

I'm a little confused as to why this was a good decision for Iran. Maybe you left out a sentence or something, because I can't see any positive coming from this and you really didn't explain much.

A lot of people are pissed off at Iran anyway. Who's waters these soldiers were in is still unclear. The Iranians are probably trying to make a statement saying "hey, we'll take your guys too". But then what? What's really going to happen? A trade is unlikely. Concessions are unlikely.

This is only going to piss off even more of the Western world. Now they're just flipping their finger.

for the record i was against the war in iraq, but actually am in fact in favor of military action against iran. however its much more difficult as a result of our actions in the war we took on for iraq. there are many many things that are now factored in that weren't before that put us in a fucked position.
