Sometimes I wish I had a regular job right now

you know, getting up early, going to the office, and then working on something constructive during the day... solving different problems, getting projects done, meeting new people etc....

rather than waking up whenever I want, opening GFY, and ordering pizza :Oh crap

I have been studying a few years and preparing for a job in politics/diplomacy or international organisations and now I am sitting here and watching fake drama and 18 year old trolls :Oh crap

polish_aristocrat 03-20-2007 04:03 AM

I could apply for such a job though, but how would I explain the few years hole in my CV? How could I hide my porn involvement? Ok, I could hide it, but the more important function I had, the bigger chances, someone would dicover it one day....

Then again, I am so lazy already that I think I simply couldn't handle a regular job anymore :helpme

true, confirmed.

skinnay 03-20-2007 04:16 AM

i think you will be surprised at how fast you will become motivated given the right job. I say go for it.

Ross 03-20-2007 04:23 AM

I wonder about that sometimes... What will happen if I ever need to get a normal job. Been doing this for 5 years now and not sure how I could explain that to potential employers.

I've actually thought about this myself and came to the conclusion that i'd probably end up doing something similar for a company. The knowledge you have of surfers is invaluable. Design/leading the surfer to click links / bookmark etc etc... But then there's the whole having to get up and work for 'the man'.... No thanks!

As for the explaining, well if they were an employer with their eyes open then they'd see the benefits...

Theo 03-20-2007 04:53 AM

The polish ppl I know are hard workers; you sound totally spoiled.

Furious_Female 03-20-2007 05:04 AM

I'd never be able to have a "real" job. I'm way too spoiled with our current lifestyle.

I was raised for this though... my parents were self employed as well. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages by far. :)

almost no entrepreneus in my family
most are University Professors etc

perhaps that's why even though in University I wasn't really the guy spending lots of time learning (in fact - the opposite was true) right now I am probably missing some intellectual challenges....

no, I didn't like the atmosphere there

these people saw nothing apart from their books, Im not like that. Also my father has a PhD (in chemistry) and i wanted to be always different that him for various reasons, so I never wanted to go that academic route

that's why i've been happy, to move to business, or even adult business to get away from all things I hated there at the University... especially since the money is better here

but you gotta admit that these are two completely different worlds... so even though i hated the people who spent their life in books and you could talk to them only about politics-related things etc.... right now I hate it that I have to deal or watch people who wouldn't make it at a drive-throguh McDonalds'

ah well?? would you hit it? i surely would

FuqALot 03-20-2007 05:48 AM

How can you enjoy the state of freedom yet hate academia? That's ass backwards because some of the best most liberal thinkers can be found on college campuses, places where people have nothing else to do but think.

I'm going to pursue an advanced degree NOW while I have the time and resources to do it...I don't want the sky to fall on online porn and I'm sitting here looking stupid with a 10-15 year gap in my resume...

Y'all can do what you want...I'm going to go get some letters behind my name just for the fuck of it...All of the free time that I have will allow me to devote my mind to getting the degree...PLUS I get to talk to young college girls with potential and fresh out of daddy's house...It's a win/win situation.

sweetcuties 03-20-2007 06:02 AM

Get some hobbies or investments man... get into real estate (don't know your area), join a gym or some type of sport. GET OUT AND ENJOY LIFE! If you really want a job, work part-time :2 cents:

I enjoy thinking on my own, but I wasn't studying philosophy (neither would I like philosophy)

I hate being told what to do, being told what to read, what to discuss or what to answer

that's why I love it that now noone tells me what to do

but I am missing some bigger things, or more interesting, more challenging things than working alone from your home.... But on the same hand Im used to being free and lazy so much that I have my doubts if I could be doing something else

Congats on pursing your advanced degree, I gave it some serious thought. My girl is gonna get hers and I don't want her to have "one up" on me, it's not even about the $$, it's status :2 cents:

Real estate is hard. You cant go into it without atleast 100000$ minimum capital.

Not in my area, I'm not in an overpriced wacked market :2 cents:

Amadora 03-20-2007 06:43 AM

If i start to attend a job, i'll have to get used to it during a year, not less.
It's too difficult.

lot 03-20-2007 06:55 AM

Comparatively quick money attract more! Otherwise you were a diplomat or whoever.

MikeVega 03-20-2007 07:01 AM

I know where your coming from. I get board with it sometimes. I've been taking a few days off a week to work on my house with a friend that is a contractor. its been great... it feels good to see a wall up at the end of the day .. just to have a solid project done. It's been about 7 years since I've done construction but my buddy asked me if i would want to work 2 days a week with him. I just might do it for fun.

pound 03-20-2007 07:08 AM

What's all this talk of "gaps in my cv" ? As far as I'm concerned I'm an Internet Marketer. One of my current niches in pornography.

As an Internet Marketer I have various skills:

Niche Research
Idea Development
Managerial and Delegation Skills (I outsource, so should you).
Graphics (well.. MS Paint?)
Programming Skills (HTML :1orglaugh )
Accountancy (I watch my stats alot)

Not that I'll ever work for anyone again, I'm an entrepreneur and have no intentions of changing that, but If I ever did my skills developed as an Internet Marketer would make any employer a dumb fuck for not employing me and paying double what he originally offered :321GFY

Tanya_AWP 03-20-2007 07:12 AM

Oftentimes ,we wish what we don't have...I don't mind the gap in ur CV as long as you've saved up..And it wouldnt hurt to have a degree to fall back to just in case you get too bored/old in this industry...:)

porno jew 03-20-2007 07:18 AM

I do have a job, and it makes me feel alive. And I can combine the two jobs perfectly. Like now for instance, in my office, surfing gfy, icq open and uploading stuff from my laptop! :)

Going home in an hour. Still a lot of stuff to do, but I have no problem with 2 jobs. I like working.

But I understand you problem. Write in your cv that you have worked as a designer or developer or something.

scottybuzz 03-20-2007 07:20 AM

mid life crisis there polish.

unless you are serious about a career move, i would find more stuff to do in your life.

being lazy is NOT an exuse.

Join clubs, join sports, you may think people dont want you there, or your too shy, but clubs and sports are always looking for new members. If you live in a city or town it really is no exuse.

If you wanna do a bit of travelling, I will join you as my life sucks at the moment, i join university in september ( i hope) which means i have some months off. Serious offer, if you wanna do some travelling together im up for it. You know my email address.

life is too short to be complaining and doing nothing.

people are proven to not have contentment at all. I heard myself saying those things few years back..Now, I would want to get back to waking up anytime of the day, doing whatever pleases you and ordering whatever..=) Well, I just hope you'll get what you want at the moment..=)

Linkster 03-20-2007 07:58 AM

Im so glad I retired from my job 5 years ago - what a pain in the ass playing politics every day, putting up with idiots that are existing just to collect a paycheck and not do anything for it - Id say based on my experiences in the jobs market for 35 years - keep as far away from it as you can :)
