Windows Vista Ultimate!
Windows Vista Ultimate, Who's using it?
How is it? Thinking of upgrading soon! |
Gay. Stupid. Pointless.
Get Mac OS X |
Vista really is awful... If you can stick with XP do so. I've used it for a week and even though I switched to look like windows classic, it isn't windows classic. Everything is a pain in the ass to do. Move a JPG... approve moving the JPG 3 times. Start a program... approve starting the program 3 times. Sucks ass.

i'm using it and LOVE it :)
|
i personally think that vista is working just fine, if you know what you doing vista might be alot more stable then xp. imo.
p.s. Ohh and, when i work i rather be on osx, but if i fuck around vista does the job :) |
if a program freezes.. it won't freeze everything.. it isolates the problem and tries to fix the problem. :thumbsup
|
Do not upgrade....

I thought this Vista is going to be cool and even ordered one of the first copies from eBay but turned up to be a fucked up system ever lol. Im not using it until Microsoft will release for at least one service pack for vista that will fix the annoying problems... :upsidedow |
I am really regretting buying windows vista. My Acdsee Pro isn't compatible, neither are half of the drivers for things I used to have on my laptop. It is now effectively half as productive than before. Anything that does work has to be run on an XP SP2 compatible scheme that effectively nullifies the point of upgrading in the first place. Looks very pretty. If that matters more than productivity then have at er.
And as for disabling the prompts every fucking time I launch a program that is not made by Microsoft, then what is the point of having the increased fucking security? Why couldn't they just have a "don't prompt again for this program" check box? |
is dx10 gonna be released for xp ? if so then i will upgrade when the first game i wanna play needs dx10 :)

I would wait a couple of months so more bugs can be fixed and more programs become compitable before upgrading.
Do you really need to run Vista? Isn't XP working like it should for you right now? :) |

samp!!!!!!!!!

I think the only reason why ppl upgrade, is because it looks 'cool'
A friend did upgrade, and many of his programs did not work anymore...So he returned to XP pro.... |
You`re right.Lots of people upgrade to Vista is because it looks nicer.I haven`t tried Vista yet and I`m not going to in the next few months.

Wow, so many positive responses. :p

I'd wait until at least the next Office 2007 service pack or Vista SP. Outlook 2007 is crippled, slow, still Beta in my opinion. For instance, my contacts are all there, but they don't work in the address books. The address books tell me I have no .PAB files, but outlook tells me they no long support .PAB files. Someone dropped the ball on that one.
Also, Vista and IE 7 do not seem to like the Google toolbar, and desktop. Which I prefer over the MS version of them, which has fewer gadgets. I'll be browsing for an hour or so, or a few minutes lose the toolbar and then I can no longer right click in any browser tab. If you are looking to get a new machine, I noticed that Dell Small Business still offers XP. They have it priced a bit more, but it looks to be worth it at this point. |

NO way at least for a year

x64 ultimate is stable and fast for me. Of course people who don't know jack shit about it and try to install without first checking hardware and software compatibility are going to have a lot of problems.

I've got ultimate and it's awesome. I have a new PC so I'm not having any of the issues a lot of people here are bitching about. No problems yet. It's super fast. I give it a 10 out of 10.

the vista rocks!!!
|
These threads about vista are very disappointing.
I am about to purchase a new laptop and all the stores are carrying vista home premium. Even online, it's hard to find them with xp pro, which has proven to be very stable for me. is it true that computers no longer come with discs for the OS? Went to Best Buy and Circuit City and was looking at a Vaio and the only thing it comes with is a restore disc? sigh. |
its too bad that most of the computers being sold already have vista on them. i still like my windows 2000 but when i get a new computer i sure as hell don't want vista. it takes them a good year usually to sort out of all the problems with a new OS.

vista suck big balls
|
Vindows Vista sucks! Xp better, when you will install Vista you will realise why is that.

I'm going to buy a fujitsu. At least with that, i can get xp pro. maybe a toshiba. |
i recently "upgraded" to vista home premium. big mistake.
compatibility and driver issues out the wazoo, and my hardware and apps were all supposed to be ready and supported. it seems like the big gun hardware companies are having trouble getting stable and functioning drivers out the door (yes, i'm talking to you, nvidia...). i've been using it two weeks now, and i'm already ready to go back to xp pro. |
It (Vista Ultimate) costs $479 off the shelf here...I'll be waiting a while!

My hard drive died last month, and since my OS restore was on a partition on it I had to buy an OS as well as a new drive. I figured I might as well go ahead with Vista. After many frustrating hours of error messages when trying to install I finally landed on an article that explained that Vista doesn't like the combination of Asus motherboard and Sata hard drive that came with my PC. So, I had to buy a copy of XP, which loaded up fine first try.
I would have never bought a PC without OS discs, but after Katrina the whole city was replacing computers at the same time and a display model HP at Staples was the only one available:Oh crap |
