How many dead pixels are on YOUR monitor?

i just bought a 17" lcd with 2 dead pixels -- 1 being right in _the_fucking_middle_ of the screen

what should i do?
how many u got?

marketsmart 11-06-2006 11:01 PM

None so far (crossing fingers). I have a Sony Vaio laptop. I just got it a few months ago and it would definitely suck to see a dead pixel so soon. My old Dell laptop had a few (took over a year to get the dead spots though).

bring it back.

Don't settle for shit!

sickkittens 11-06-2006 11:05 PM

Why not bring it back?

LiveDose 11-06-2006 11:06 PM

Zero so far, knock on wood. But I have on one my Canon point and shoot digital. Pisses me off. Happened after about 5 months...

martinsc 11-06-2006 11:08 PM

none... so far....

cause this is the 2nd lcd monitor out of 2 i have purchased that has dead pixels.

2 out of 2
from 2 different brands
from 2 different stores
from 2 different times.

is this bad luck?
i read somewhere that a lcd monitor can have up to 7 dead pixels and be shipped from factory

jacked 11-06-2006 11:13 PM

if you bought it from dell or gateway they have a dead pixel policy i forget what the minimum number of dead pixels needs to be for them to take the return.... but it's a lot more then two i think its 15 if i remember correctly

Yeah. Most manufactures won't cover repairs if there's only a few. There's nothing stopping you from returning it to the store though. (assuming you just got it)

Rankings 11-06-2006 11:18 PM

i have 0

notabook 11-06-2006 11:20 PM

Most professional monitors will have zero pixels, the rest seem to have about 2-5 on average. If it's a dead pixel you can try rubbing it out, I've had great success doing that. Get a plastic baggie and put your hand in it and rub around the dead pixel with one of your fingers, make sure to apply pressure but not too much. With any luck it'll bring it back.

starpimps 11-06-2006 11:25 PM

ive nver had a dead pixel on all 3 of my lcds, all samsung 21 inch
in your case im sure you can return the thing

Costco.com has a 3yr/6 month return for any reason policy. The 6 month warranty is for PC parts. You can buy from them online and return a item to one of their local stores too.

marketsmart 11-07-2006 02:44 AM

I think Samsung has 0-dead pixels guarantee for a certain amount of time (atleast in Finland). I have 2 samsungs :)

Naughty 11-07-2006 02:56 AM

Jeesh, looks like somebody punched the monitor lol! My F-419 had a similar problem but without all the color, about 200-500 total pixels just randomly died at the top of the screen. Oddly enough they would come back for a while then just die again. Had to send it back to the factory to get fixed.

Matt 26z 11-07-2006 03:15 AM

I have one stuck pixel, and it's bright green!

VoteForPedro 11-07-2006 03:17 AM

I just tried to register deadpixels.com but it was taken :(

okdesign 11-07-2006 03:17 AM

More Booze 11-07-2006 03:18 AM

Non, but I will buy a 19" lcd so I'll probably get some dead pixels soon too ;)

Roy Boy 11-07-2006 03:19 AM

MyNameIsNobody 11-07-2006 03:19 AM

What brand is it? and the other monitors you've bought? I have a samsung syncmaster 19" and it's been working like a charm for a year now. No dead pixels, no nothing.

My next monitor will definitly be a samsung
