Sebastian Sands 10-13-2006 12:45 PM

venus 10-13-2006 01:11 PM

yes, 5D is night and day better in my opinion - I still use my 20D for fast hit and run type of shots or when shooting production stills but the better quality is definately 5D - I can use it for print ad work. any other questions venus just email me - I dont follow threads usually like this.

CIVMatt 10-13-2006 01:41 PM

5D is much better then the 20D... and they both suck compaired to the D200

I shoot with both.

Of course the 5D is better but it's also 2 to 3 times the price and WAY overkill for most people here.

What will you be using it for?

MaddCaz 10-13-2006 01:43 PM

LOL.....OK. :thumbsup

Jaytown 10-13-2006 01:49 PM

This is what I use, if your going to do it do it right. For the money it gets no better than this, of course its the lens that makes the difference, not the camera itself if your allready purchasing in the top end.

Actually, it's the photographer that makes the difference. :2 cents:

Canon 5D way better than Canon 20D

jonesy 10-13-2006 04:52 PM

if your not going to do serious print work and really just shooting for the net buy the 20D - and use the difference in cash on a nice lens.

marketsmart 10-13-2006 04:55 PM

i will check them both out!

venus 10-13-2006 06:54 PM

shooting content for my site, I use the 20D right now but want something better.

well lets see you overused photoshop smart blur and your lighting is bad...the photo doesn't "pop" as we say in the biz

but what do I know...

venus 10-13-2006 08:35 PM

I dont know what you know, but the lighting is exactly what the light meter said to use, and the photo works for my members, maybe not yours, but mine are more then happy
and no I did not use "smart blur" what ever that is, so I am guessing you do not know as much as you want to know.

Venus for the web the 20d is more than enough your not shooting for national geographic. Unless your doing print I really dont see the point.

now lets see Mike has two avns, shoots for Genesis magazine. Actually Mike has done a bunch of print work. I think the problem with that pic the girl is too close to the background.

mikesouth 10-13-2006 09:16 PM

You may discount my critique if you like...I don't care but the fact is I shoot magazine layouts for many major publications including Genesis, Hustler and tons more. What I do on my sites is intentionally amateurish.

If you aren't open to learn how to be better you won't get any better.

first of all learn to shoot good photos without using photoshop then learn to use photoshop to make them a bit better without evidence that they were photoshopped.

Technically theres about a zillion things wrong with that pic including the composition (learn the rule of thirds)

You subject is under exposed but at least a half stop

The book case looks as though its on the side of a hill....always compose your shots with straight edges straight up and down or across.

have your model wear colors that compliment the background and when she wears stockings make sure they are the same height on both legs

shall I continue?

venus 10-13-2006 09:17 PM

It does not matter what he has, if whats on the front of the sites in his sig is his work then he should reconsider talking about bad lighting. I know guys who shoot for muscle and fitness, muscle mag and other magazines, one guy I know wrote a book on nude physique shooting, does it mean his work is good, no, personally I dont like his style, I know because I let him shoot me once... but because I don't like it means nothing and it shouldn't.

When taking pics, everyone is different, some people like black and white, some like to cooler colors, some like warmer, some use more light some less, everyone is different, for me to say I dont like his shots means nothing, if he likes them and his customers thats what matters, the same goes with others, if the person shooting it like it, their customers like it then why the need to flame someone.

When I saw this thread I knew this was going to happen.

People don't waste your time helping this woman. There are countless threads like this with her.

PS: Her members don't like anything all of our members like. lol

Interesting how Venus gets soo massivly defensive so quick.

I'm starting to think it's steriod rage.

people - and animals - that have done too many steriods tend to get over agressive when they feel cornered. They lash out.

we've sceen it soo many time from her on here it's pretty obvious it's a textbook case.

She's a bright girl but she's TOTALLY incapable of constructive critizesm - soo much soo that it's not normal - to the extent that it has to have some sort of chemical basis to it. I'd put my money on steroids....

but what do I know - Venus will obviously debunk this but folks - think about it - seriously. would explain a lot about her.

thoughts? (other than Venus - we already know your answer)

:2 cents:

Truthfully? No, there isnt much there to brag about there, even you still have a lot to learn judging by your work. Dont get me wrong, your a good photographer, but now days with the technology that we have this doesnt take anything special anymore and anyone that picks up a cam can be shooting in no time and selling content or creating it for sites easily. Her photography allthough needs a little work isnt bad at all and would work just fine for her members area.

The way you do things will not always work for everyone else. Its not your photography thats making you look bad to her, its the layout and design and the fact that you have not invested the money to hire a proper designer to compliment your work because honestly, the graphics on your site are terrible. My comment is in no way meant to insult you but if you want to have bragging rights and be able to offer advice and actually have people listen then you have to present what you offer with an airtight presentation.

Most bodybuilders are very insecure. Especially around power lifters.

I aint insulted ...I have a formula for my sites that works very well. Thats all that counts...see when you have an amateur site that professionally designed it doesnt look amateur anymore does it? The surfers all think its the same shit they get everyplace else...go figure...

There's something too that. I know a few body builders here - provinical amateur level but champions... So long as you're agreeing with them, they're fine. And all the ones I know LIVE for complements on everything - their brains, their body, their work, etc

heaven forbid disagree with them. They can't handle that
