Should I have a baby?

That is the question. My wife and I want one. But both have said we wanted to wait until I either buy or build a new home. Well last night she wa doing the baby talk thing and I was like... If you want to stop your pills, I'm cool with it...

We still havent decided yet... But hmmm should I have a kid? That is the question....

EroticySteve 08-15-2005 11:08 AM

If you have to ask someone else's opinion on this I say, wait.

Good point... Although I wasnt really asking for an opinion... more like talking out loud... I dunno... LOL

jaYMan 08-15-2005 11:10 AM

It will change your life ;)))

Its like being pecked to death by a chicken, yet totally worth it.

StuartD 08-15-2005 11:11 AM

Well, only you two can answer that question... not anyone else. If you feel you're not ready, then don't... if you are ready and want one, then go for it.

There is no real "right time" I think, but there certainly are "wrong times" to have babies.

But as many have said, it's a life changing experience and you never really know what that means until it happens to you.

My baby boy, Cameron, is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Babagirls 08-15-2005 11:14 AM

it usually takes a long time to get prego after a woman stops taking her birth control, some dont have kids of a year afterwards, some get prego the next day LOL but do your research or ask her to call her gyno up & see for sure, but i remember reading somewhere that if you want to have kids and are on the pill/patch, it'll take a long time to get prego after she stops takin the birth control.

Kids turn into monsters from age 1 to 4. Brats from 6 to 12.. Teenagers from 13 to 19.. Then they finally move out.

Yeah I was doing some research last night on that.... Maybe we will just have her stop the pill and see what happens...

I dunno just yet... :) I always over analize and really think over things like this...

MetaMan 08-15-2005 11:17 AM

If you are married (which you are) and you are both ready and willing to devote the rest of your life to a child then why not? a child can bring great joy.

just remember that it is a lifelong commitment, there is no harm in waiting until you are 100% ready, the child will thank you in the future.

Right now, my kid is drving me insane. He is 3 months old and cries constantly. I'm going to need therepy after this one (not really). But honestly, you have to have a clear head when you get one of these monsters. I'm waiting for the "worth it" part everyone says.

sfera 08-15-2005 11:39 AM

Headless... I think if you feel you are at the point where you can take the time to nurture a child then go for it man.. You and your girl have been together long enough and things seem to work well between you two. If you think everything will work out good then go for it.. I know you'd be a great dad..

Sarah_Jayne 08-15-2005 12:20 PM

Antonio 08-15-2005 01:54 PM

the last thing the world needs is a smaller version of you

Tom_PM 08-15-2005 01:56 PM

Yes. Have the baby, name it Tom. That would be cool. Unless it's a girl..

Furious_Female 08-15-2005 02:41 PM

Yes, have one! Life is too short to wait for this and that. Your wife and you have been together for a long time from what I read in other threads and have a stable relationship. Go for it!! :thumbsup

I'll sum it up in 1 sentence.

Having and raising a child is the most challenging and at the same time the most rewarding thing you will ever experience in your life.

First 6 - 12 months are sheer hell. Bottle, vomit, diapers, pee, poop. Bottle, vomit, diapers, pee, poop. You get to the point where you start asking friends when does this whole process start to get fun. LOL. No sleep. Crying begins to make you go stir crazy. Get a nanny if you can afford one.

Year 1 to 3 still lots of work, but way less. This is the stage where they crawl off the bed and fall down a lot. You have to watch them like a hawk.

Year 4 to 5 at least now you can start to communicate with them much better. Its a trip when they start talking and walking. This is when you really start the bonding heavy duty. The first day you leave them at kindergarten and under someone else's control is really hard to deal with.

Year 6 to 10 now it gets fun because they are capable of doing a lot for themselves and their personalities really begin to shine. If you get a brat these can be nightmare years. If you get a good kid, these are the best.

11 to 13 you start to see their independence come out. They want to hang around friends much more. You get into fights a lot more with them.

14 to 18 kids? where? They head to the mall with friends and are just not into hanging with you as much. You start to feel more and more distant and they look at you with this you don't get it look all the time. A lot of kids tell their parents to fuck off during these years.

18 that's it. You're all done raising them and they're off to college or being bums. You look in the mirror and can't believe they are all grown up and on their own and you've aged so much.

Now if you get divorced while raising kids it can really become messy. Now you have to share them with someone you don't even love anymore. For the sake of the kids you have to stay civil, although about half don't and the kids get fucked up seeing all the hostility and fighting.

Work? Yep, more than you can imagine. You will learn the meaning of Patience.

Joy? Yep, creating your own family is the funnest and coolest thing in the world. Nothing else comes close to the joy children give you inside.

So its the great and hard at the same time and you will learn and grow as much as they do in the process of raising them.

I have just 1 and would love to another if the right woman comes into my life again. My ex and I have a great relationship now. I got custody, but he pretty much divides his time equally. Its hard though when you have to share your child. Its too quiet and lonely when they aren't around. You really get used to all the noise and commotion they make.

But yeh definitely go for it.

Translation 08-15-2005 03:14 PM

considering everyone else in this biz as long as you is rich now, and you are still dirt poor, i think the chances of you ever building your own home, or even owning a nice home are slim to none. so if you want a kid i see no point in someone like you waiting. although you may want to consult a doctor before engaging in sexual activity, or any physical activity for that matter.

4My 08-15-2005 03:35 PM

Go for it :) am pretty sure after she stop pills life gonna take in charge to decide for you if its meant to be or not

ive been with my ex for 8 month and we both wanted a baby, after so many false alert and many walk to the drugmart to buy test, (its fucking give creeps am sure some of you know what i mean, its like go pass a aids test after fuck a whore) well all this to say we hopefully finaly never got baby and now separated but by the time we want one i guess in a way life decide for us to not have it

am sure in your case this can apply too, just let it go, i think its already realy good sign you worry and post about it, might mean u not gonna that poor father :) good luck

sorry for english mystake, id just say it before metaman fell give me another public hammer slash ( nothing personal ) :)

Kenny B! 08-15-2005 03:52 PM

Go for it, you aren't getting any younger and lets face it I don't have to raise or support the child so have fun with it!
