Anyone ever broken any bones? what and how?

Heya thought it might be interesting to see how many of you guys have done something to break some bones, I've broken my arm a few times, as a kid once i fell on the steps outside going into the patio, a couple years ago i broke my wrist in dance class (I've taken dance almost my whole life, but didn't realize it until later that night after class) anyways not too exciting, anyone else have any stories or bones to add to the list?:)

(kinda bored..dont mind me!)

Walrus 06-03-2005 08:26 PM

Never. The only thing that came close was my ball came out of my ball and socket when I was a kid.

pubenemy 06-03-2005 08:27 PM

I broke a small bone in my foot jet skiing, was launching off big waves in the gulf bailed one time and just as i hit the water ski hit my foot. When I went to the ER they said I had a sprained ankle, long story short after months finally went to a podiatrist who figured out it was a broken bone. Ended up needing surgery cause of scar tissue built up and it wouldnt heal. FUN STUFF :thumbsup

Was that your shoulder? wow I've heard things like that happen with kids quite a bit..sounds horrid.. do you remember it being painfull?!

Doc911 06-03-2005 08:31 PM

I keep breaking my fingers. Not sure why. Well thats a lie. I break them everytime I get into a fight. It seems I'm able to punch much harder than my hands will allow. It usually doesn't stop me though. Of course the next day they hurt like hell. After about the 10th time I stopped going to the doctor for it. They just do the same thing everytime. a little metal splint and some tape. I can do that my self.

Do you think if they would have treated it like a broken bone you would have avoided the whole sage of surgery and that? that freaks me out that dr's can make huge mistakes like that and cause you a lifetime of pain and suffering..

Thrawn$ 06-03-2005 08:32 PM

Broken jaw when getting out of a bar last summer :(

Yea the podiatrist said that if the ER would have diagnosed correctly it would have been a simple cast for a few weeks and healed. But instead turned into being casted for several months with it not healing and then finally the surgery. Podiatrist said I had a case, but I dunno I should have persued it but im really not the letiguous type.

ring cut my eye, doctor said if it was a little to the left i would have been blind.... there were about 6-7 huge fights up at whistler....

picture this.. 3 different highschools going up to the same place to celebrate grad over 3 nights and a shitload of alcohol and hotel parties.... i guess the people that plan this figure you should get your ass beat before getting let out into the real world :1orglaugh

now heres the kicker, that eye injury wasn't even during any of those fights.. each of the hotel rooms have a hottub with it... so lets just say party + hottub + girlfriends ring = owned :1orglaugh

for those of you that don't know, the movie is based on a guy who has that disease where his bones break extremely easily

p.s. too bad you can't wear the bubble suit while riding your bike :1orglaugh

JD 06-03-2005 08:49 PM

i broke a bone in my hand. I was playing with my dog in my living room and clipped the edge of a pillar ( the square kind w/ the metal re-inforced edges) and snapped the bone in half.

Yeah, I've been on two since, and it hasn't been more than just a few foot bounces. Nothing serious at all. I've learned my lesson.

1 week after it happened I turned around and sold the trampoline for more than I paid for it :1orglaugh

WOW! I think we have a WINNER HERE! lol so is it that you are accident prone, or just really active, or bubble boy weak bones? lol

Doc911 06-03-2005 08:53 PM

Oh yes please lets not compare stitches. I've had way to many. not to mention two gun shot and ice pick wounds.

It was incredibly bad, especially since the fracture was about 2 inches from my wrist, right where all the nerve endings were. Originally I thought I had just sprained my wrist, so I laid down hoping it would get better, but it just kept swelling and getting more painful. Eventually, I noticed the pain was worse when I twisted my arm at the wrist, and I could feel one of the two bones in the forearm hurting more than the other, so I knew I needed to go to the hospital.

When I got there, I had to sit through like half an hour of paperwork, and after that, it took the doctor about 5 minutes to put me on morphine, at which point I just stopped caring about it all :1orglaugh

It really sucked the next day, with all the swelling in my arm and hand. I'm right handed, and I broke my right arm, so using computers was awkward for a few weeks after that. :1orglaugh
