could 28 days later get dumber?

its almost over...It's just... so dumb did anyone else think so?

http://teenpiccentral.com/gfy/dont.jpg

i just think the premise is dumb, you can infect someone with "Rage" or even turn it into a virus or disease...

CDSmith 05-31-2004 10:49 PM

It had it's moments, but I found that it could have had a bit more originality to it.

The part where the idiot lights the candle in that house.... I thought "DUH, don't light a fucking candle or the bad fuckers'l see you right away, idiot"..... sure enough he lights up a candle.

I do like "end of the world" movies like that though. Ever see Omega Man? What about Damnation Alley?

no dumber than most other horrible movies of late

Rictor 05-31-2004 11:45 PM

It was probably the best horror movie of last year. Most of the rest were terrible and flopped at the box office. 28 Days Later was an international hit.

lux_interior 05-31-2004 11:50 PM

This is an on going argument with me and my good friend Dave. He hails this as the best movie of last year while I disagree and think Cabin Fever was way cooler.

Being a kid of the 80's and growing up with all the cool slasher shit like Halloween, Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, Last House on the Left etc. I loved the way Cabin Fever paid homage to loads of them. I suppose 28 days later does too in a way but I just think Cabin Fever looked slicker. Danny Boyles cinematography was cool though considering the budget.

My :2 cents: for what it's worth.

I personally liked 28 Days Later. Im really glad that they didn't stick to the original script.

Anybody see the original Script. It was fuckin gay. There were no soldiers and they went to this lab. In the lab there was this guy who was waiting out the infection.

Anyway the main character does some kind of blood transfusion to take the virus into himself so he could cure the guy with the daughter.

BRISK 05-31-2004 11:57 PM

The first half of the movie was good, but the last half was crap.

riosluts 05-31-2004 11:59 PM

the movie is good because if you watch it in the theatre it scares the shit outta you. The plot aint that good though

Jon 06-01-2004 12:08 AM

The empty cities were great. The plot itself was just another zombie movie, similar to Dawn of the Dead. There were some parts that were done VERY well to give that whole creepy eerie feeling. One of those parts was when they went into the tunnel, and the crowd of infected people started making their way towards them from a distance. Creeped me out, done well. Realism shots rock.

Elli 06-01-2004 12:10 AM

Awesome movie, and I love the alternate endings. I watched it three times, and it's still one of my faves of last year.

But then, I tend to like weird movies like 21 Grams and Blade Runner and Secretary.

I give it :thumbsup :thumbsup

eiht_98 06-01-2004 12:16 AM

It sucked.

Napolean 06-01-2004 12:18 AM

I just watched Bubba Hotep.. so in comparison 28 days later is grammy award material.

SykkBoy 06-01-2004 12:29 AM

I loved 28 Days Later, one of the better movies of last year...I'm also glad they didn't go with the original ending, I liked the army ending better..

also, did anyone see a PMS/menstrual cycle subtext to the movie?

klinton 06-01-2004 12:38 AM

it was pretty good movie...

Hmm.. :Graucho

I noticed the 28 days cycle, but I interpreted it more as a nature cycle, like the waxing and waning of the moon and the tides.

sicone 06-01-2004 12:42 AM

The movie kept my interest for a while... but then it got predictable and boring so I changed the channel

johnbosh 06-01-2004 12:43 AM

dont be skerred

well, yeah the 28 days cycle, but look how the color red was represented in the movie...as well as the sudden rage of the virus "rage" which is simialr to the stereotype of a PMS rant

the color red was a marker of sorts, example, there is almost no red during the fist part of the movie, then you have the grls in red dresses, the red color of the eyes of the rage victims

I'll have to watch it again as there was a lot of subtext to it in my head while watching the movie, hehehe

Yeah, I noticed the red dresses, too. And the blood is the method of infection, as well. Not only that, but the women were the key to survival of the species (as far as they knew) whether they were willing or not.

You may be on to something. :)

twistyneck 06-01-2004 12:54 AM

I thought it was pretty good but a lot could have been edited out once they were at that army base.

And it's not a zombie movie you pinheads. Zombies, by definition, have to be dead first.

dd2 06-01-2004 01:27 AM

How anyone could compare it to Cabin Fever I don't know :helpme
I thought 28 days later was an awesome film, the empty city shots were fantastic and it was very enjoyable all the way through, cabin fever made cringe it was so poor.

IMO anyway :thumbsup

SykkBoy 06-01-2004 01:49 AM

Is that your qualified medical opinion doctor?

Adent007 06-01-2004 07:41 AM

your not alone......it was crap

thankfully i only paid 5 bucks for a previously viewed dvd to watch it. the previews didnt look good to me but i got it because it was touted as "the most original movie ever" obviously whoever said that hadnt seen "omega man" or .....brain fart....the one with Vincent Price...."last man on earth" or something like that i think...... other than the virus being called "rage".....same movie no originality whatsoever

like hollywood pumping out another tom cruise flick.....
his character is the best at what he does.....he falls on hard times......he meets a girl.....and everything is better

only this was.....something wipes out the human race....and theres one guy left.....(almost) and then he finds more people and everything is ok

Dirty D 06-01-2004 08:05 AM

I thought it was an awesome movie!

How many alternate endings are there?

Summarize them please!

crockett 06-01-2004 08:13 AM

I liked it for what ever reason, now the tunnel part was a bit lame but other than that it was ok.

well that would be a kind of dumb premise, but as i understood it it was just the effect of the infection, they weren't literally turning "rage" into a virus.

.....and that is my qualified opinion
