Keurig Rocks!
I am late to the party but it is totally amazing.
|
Try the Starbucks.
|
The wife and I figure we've saved at least $1700-1800 bucks in the last year with our Keurig.
We always just bought Tim Hortons coffee at $1.60 for a large cup. Between her and I we'd usually go through about five cups a day. We get the K-cups for about .73 cents (cheaper if you buy'em online). Saves us nearly $5/day. |
I was thinking that mt dew is .30/ each but the sugar content is huge so even with two tsp per I am saving calories and at about .25/ each as an expense.
Also saving as my roommates makes a big pot of coffee and use one cup. |
Coffee makes my pee stink:(

The Keurig has shifted my idea of a cup of coffee from the 8 oz cup I get at Dunkin, to a smaller, stronger cup of coffee. It doesn't do big cups strong enough for me.
|
I love my Keurig Coffee maker and they're a good company to deal with too. The earlier models had a smaller rubber pipe inside that delivered hot water and it and or the pump got clogged down. I called to ask what could be done and they shipped me a brand new unit for free. About a year later the same issue happened again and they sent me another one.
I'm discovering new coffees too. My favourite so far is "Timothy's Breakfast blend". Perfections. Quote:
Same here but if you watch closely you'll see why. On the largest cup setting the water turns from dark coffee colour to clear water color at the end. Basically the k cups just aren't made for big cups of coffee so you end up with a more bitter-tasting coffee when you select the large cup brew. I always set mine for medium. |
I prefer to buy beans myself. I get them at a grocery store and mix 95% breakfast blend with about 5% flavoured ones.
I think it is much cheaper for one, but the main thing is i kept getting an odd taste from our individual coffee maker. I spent 300 on it then hated it after..lol When i get back to Canada i am going to invest in a large espresso maker, professional style. I know someone with a large italian market that imports them, so i will get a good deal. :) |

Most times I just use a single K-cup (on large setting), take it out after the first brew, crinkle it a bit to loosen up the coffee grounds...then turn it 180 degrees to run it again on small setting. (does that make sense? lol). The large/small combo perfectly fills my thermal cup to the right level. |
I hate those things.
I haven't used one in years, but it was always way too weak. I use a french press, with freshly ground beans every morning. I'm also insane and make "Bulletproof Coffee", which if you haven't heard of it, is coffee (preferably brewed using single estate, washed beans instead of the usual fermented process), with coconut or MCT oil, 2-4 tbsp of unsalted grassfed butter and for me a few drops of liquid stevia. It's amazing. |

Anyone use Nectresse instead of sugar(or mixed with sugar)? It's not too bad in coffee.
Stevia will ruin a coffee, but Nectresse tastes kind of nice. |
I only drinker flavored coffee so all of the complaints sort of miss me. I love have 30 options and teas etc in minutes.

Stevia just doesn't work in coffee for my tastes. The first time I tried it, I thought about spitting it out and smashing my coffee cup on the granite in a blind rage. |

Now the internal debate is Coke Zero versus flavored coffees. Coffee has been around for ever and doesn't have much in the way of bad press and everyone agrees that the chemical soup that is diet pop is probably not good for you. |
I'll stick with my 12 cup and 2 cup coffee makers
|
Why not use the my K-cup that comes with the unit and buy a can of Tim Hortons coffee? That's what we do since the wife only likes timmes. I prefer dark roast in a French press, but the Keurig is great for those times when only one cup of coffee is needed.
|
if u like the K cups
move to a nesspresso machine and go with the capsules, I think this is the best out there for single cup machines |
Man I love my Keurig , you just can't beat it
|
We got one of those Tassimo machines for Christmas a few years ago. I don't get the point. What is so hard about tossing beans in the grinder and then pouring boiling water into a french press? Seriously, it's not rocket science. And it tastes so much fresher...
|
I prefer my tassimo but that's only because I'm a light weight and drink cappuccinos
|
I just got one. Enjoying it so far :)

Not talking about the raw calories. Basic refined table sugar causes insulin resistance, which can make your fat cells pick up more fat and hold onto it longer -- among many other things. I can't out cut sugar out totally, but in the past I seemed to get most of it from my coffee. Benign is the opposite of what sugar is. |

It's cool but, there's 2 big things for me why I don't like it, well 3.
1. It's not recyclable, yeah I know I'm a bit of a nerd. 2. I don't trust this cheap tin plastic, most of them contain Bisphenol which is carcinogen 3. I don't like the taste. So I use a saeco odea go machine, with fresh coffee it's awesome |

Love mine! I make a Caramel Vanilla Cream daily. I hate hot coffee so I make mine iced with whipped topping. I use the medium setting as the ice melts and dilutes it to a tall.
I use to drink a lot of red bull for energy but this is cheaper and it gives me the kick I need. |
BTW while we are on the subject does anyone own one of these? If so what do you think of it?
Keurig Rivo |

And tea from a pod? seriously? Just throw some leaves into my tea ball and pour boiling water over top... |
Get one of the reusable cups for the machine that you can use regular coffee grounds in and save even more.

All you need is some fresh whole beans from a good roaster, a French press, and a grinder.
A little practice with that & you'll blow away any of those silly machines with their prepackaged proprietary capsules. |
