Howard the Duck

Is there a worse movie out there?

awxm 03-22-2010 10:32 PM

Aww come on man, it was good at the time.

*edit* or maybe that's just nostalgia talking...

Mike Honcho 03-22-2010 10:37 PM

Couldn't agree with you more. What a terrible fucking movie. Only part I enjoyed was looking at the duck in the bath.

itto 03-22-2010 10:38 PM

basic instinct 2

htd's a classic, compared to that.

Yes.

Oh, and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is my worst movie of all time.

mikesinner 03-22-2010 10:58 PM

Hercules starring Lou Ferrigno

Showed an amazing amount of flesh for a PG movie in 1983

Chosen 03-22-2010 11:03 PM

Haven't seen it so can't compare to anything else :)

BobChezule 03-22-2010 11:11 PM

I saw Howard the Duck when I was a kid and I fucking loved it. Watched it lots of times. Popeye with Robin Williams was a big favorite of mine too so I clearly had shit taste in movies.

That was the first time I ever walked out of a movie theater.

Lol, I loved that movie as a kid. As an adult, I can't stand to watch more than 5 minutes of it.

No Holds Barred was the first movie I walked out on. I was just a kid.

leg4 03-23-2010 12:28 AM

Howard the Duck was not that bad! COMON!

Sarah_Jayne 03-23-2010 02:31 AM

We love Howard! Okay, yes it was stupid and silly but it is for those exact reasons why we have such an affinity for it. We were actually on the mailing list to be notified when it came out on DVD.

The comic books, on which the film is based, are good fun too.

It knows how dumb it is and that is why it is okay. Any number of the films out there that suck but take themselves too seriously are worse in my book.

Hentaikid 03-23-2010 02:32 AM

I liked it, the monster was cool as hell. You were probably too old for it when you saw it.

I have walked out of a couple movies in my time but the worst movie I've seen lately and possibly ever was the Spirit. Way to butcher a classic comic book.

Sarah_Jayne 03-23-2010 02:49 AM

Yeah, I think age is a key to things. I bet most of us in here saw it when we were young kids. I know that when HBO was still young it only had a few movies that it showed in heavy rotation and that was one of them. So, we know it well.

Yngwie 03-23-2010 03:24 AM

The worse movie I've ever seen was Pootie Tang. Howard the duck is a masterpiece compared to that pile of crap.

The Duck 03-23-2010 03:35 AM

HBO has upped their quality to say the least.

Boobzooka 03-23-2010 04:54 AM

Dollar for dollar, the worst movie ever made is Transformers 2. Sure, Howard The Duck is bad, but it only cost 1/5th of Transformers 2. So using that ratio, to be a worse movie it would have to suck 5x as much. Such extreme levels of suck-age are purely theoretical and would surely result in a blackhole where earth used to be.

fris 03-23-2010 05:43 AM

i liked it but then i was a kid when i saw it

MrKinkade 03-23-2010 05:49 AM

the blair with project was hands down the worse movie EVER MADE

John-ACWM 03-23-2010 05:58 AM

Didn't see it but Bruno is trash.

Super Mario Bros and Blood Rayne.

rogueteens 03-23-2010 06:40 AM

Independance Day, fucking shite.

CaptainHowdy 03-23-2010 06:51 AM

That movie got me into midgets...

Kenny B! 03-23-2010 07:26 AM

Worst movie: Dead Presidents and that one with Nicole Kidman when she had a kid kill her husband or something to that effect.

Howard the Duck rocked!

Vendzilla 03-23-2010 07:41 AM

Howard was pretty bad

I'm convinced Will Smith gets more TV time than any other actor hands down.

Flipping through the channels, you constantly find his movies. Not to mention Fresh Prince.

Independence Day. Men in Black. Pursuit of Happiness. Hitch.

Give it another couple years and I'm sure all of his recent movies will get constantly play as well.

J. Falcon 03-23-2010 08:03 AM

I watched the shit out of Howard the Duck when I was a kid. I'm I couldn't stand 10 minutes of it now.

Worse movies:
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
House Party 2
Home Alone 3
Karate Kid 2

My 3 upset pics:
Blackhawk Down
Avatar
Inglorious Bastards

Elias 03-23-2010 08:11 AM

Gotta go with Karate Kid. Howard the Duck used to be a nice movie one day.

Tom_PM 03-23-2010 08:12 AM

When I first saw it, it was already full of camp value.
The last one I saw at a theater was godzilla 1984. Talk about your bad movies, there's one right there.

Same here. I think the age you first experience a movie at has alot to do with how you perceive it as an adult. I have a soft spot for Howard, my sig other had not seen it and when I finally tracked down a copy a few years ago (it wasn't out on DVD until March of last year) I was crushed when he hated it. Not just didn't care for, absolutely hated it. I wanted to punch him in the face :1orglaugh

I think Goonies might be the same way. This was an EPIC movie for me as a wee one. To this day if I see it on TV I will usually watch it and love it just the same as when it came out. One of my best buds is a little over a decade older than me had never seen it. Finally got him to watch it recently and it didn't completely fail but for obvious reasons fell a little flat. I guess you can't expect a movie aimed at 6 to 12 year olds to resonate w/ someone entering their 40s. :1orglaugh

michael.kickass 03-23-2010 08:27 AM

I liked it back in the day. There are so many worse movies.

The Ghost 03-23-2010 08:31 AM

Worst movie ever is "Cannibal Holocaust 2". Howard the Duck is Oscar worthy compared to that pile.

Worst movie so far this year - Book of Eli
