that movie sucked yes.
BUT-
a- it had big white feathery duck titties with pink nipples in the first ten minutes
b- the alien at the end was surprisingly well done. even by today's standards, it doesn't look THAT cheesy.

and for the record, Conan the Destroyer is far worse.

ReGGs 03-23-2010 10:12 AM

I was so excited to see this movie when they put it on netflix instant view. Needless to say some things you see when you are younger tend to suck ass balls in retrospoect. Agreed this movie could not have been more terrible. Must have been fooled by the duck tits into thinking it was good the first time around.

EdgeXXX 03-23-2010 10:20 AM

Sorry, but my "worst of all time" either of the Charlie's Angels movies (especially the second).

They shot it up here in SF. I remember a bunch of my friends were hanging around getting paid as extra's.

But yes it was terrible

HeadPimp 03-23-2010 10:35 AM

Howard was not a good movie, but about half of the drek that the ScyFy channel turns out as Saturday night movies are far worse. Cyclops especially comes to mind, along with Ice Spiders.

How about that dog that plays professionnal basket, hockey soccer, etc..

Or that movie with whoopie Goldberg where she is an NBA coach. Those are bad.

Or jordan and the Looney tunes or Space jam...So many to choose from...

Can't believe I missed this thread.

Yes, it was the one of the worst movies ever. What made it worse was that, in addition to Lucas being involved, it was based on a great Marvel comic spin off from a comic called "The Man Thing" before having his own issue and I think he ran for president against Jimmy Carter in 77 or whenever that was "LOL".

Tried to see if any of this was mentioned and didn't see it in other posts so just thought I'd toss it out there. Apologies if someone already brought this up.

Sly 03-23-2010 01:00 PM

I'm glad nobody has mentioned Goonies or Willow.

Now those are classics.

Dude- what!?!

Conan the Destroyer isn't oscar worthy, but I could watch it all day long. I fucking love Dino DeLaaurentis. Ouch, that cuts man. :(

No doubt, DINO RULES! He's like the one level up Roger Corman. BREAKDOWN was awesome, and tell me that KING KONG remake of his didn't blow away Peter Jackson's version.

Totally. Peter Jackson's Kong was such a dissapointment. I guess that's what happens when someone sits on a script too long, they overwork the hell out of it.

I think Goonies might be the same way. This was an EPIC movie for me as a wee one. To this day if I see it on TV I will usually watch it and love it just the same as when it came out. One of my best buds is a little over a decade older than me had never seen it. Finally got him to watch it recently and it didn't completely fail but for obvious reasons fell a little flat. I guess you can't expect a movie aimed at 6 to 12 year olds to resonate w/ someone entering their 40s. :1orglaugh

Yup....my first husband was considerably older than me and *hated* Goonies. I, on the other hand, was about 8 when it came out and in my heart it is one of my beloved films because of how it captured me back there. I always thought the difference was that I was the kid when it came out and he was nearly the age to be a parent and he just didn't 'get' it through the eyes of a kid.

Howard the Duck the comic book rules though, just in case people don't know about that. George Lucas, screw up that he is (but earned it and still deserveres respect), was trying to help out some friends with the movie, much like he did Lawrence Kasden with BODY HEAT (yup, true story)!

Yes, the alien had some nice detail to it.

Shot in The City? I thought it was supposed to take place in Cleveland or something like that. I did not recognize it as being SF at any point.

Lots of Cali locations for shooting, but yeah, it was supposed to take place in Cleveland.

So it wasn't shot in SF. Thought I was losing my touch. I know that town pretty well.

But where else can you see Annette Funicello sing-

"Ska ska ska... Jamaica Ska..."

LOL..

"Everybody can do the ska, a new dance that goes like this!" :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

La_Sexorcist 03-23-2010 07:19 PM

Aw man I loved this movie. It has been many years since I've seen it so I don't doubt it would be a bit cheesy :) I remember duck boobs from the beginning when he crashed through another duck's bathroom. hehe.

MrBottomTooth 03-23-2010 07:34 PM

Most of the movies being mentioned in here at least have some appeal for being campy / original B-movies. These types of movies are always going to have a cult following and some nostalgic value.

The worst movies are the ones that are terrible, but offer none of the above mentioned appeal.

For instance...."Gigli". I don't think you'll find any people fondly remembering that movie in a couple decades.

M0nk 03-23-2010 08:56 PM

I liked it, when it just came out!

KillerK 03-23-2010 09:49 PM

was a good movie when i first saw it, terrible now though

Waddymelon 03-23-2010 09:54 PM

I guess none of you saw Beat Street.

CosmicTang 03-23-2010 10:20 PM

There are some great bad ones in here.

I would like to add to the list:

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Kentucky Fried Movie
Caddyshack 2
The Next Karate Kid
Jaws 3-D
Jaws 4 The Revenge
Halloween 3-19 inclusive
The Invention of Lying

No worries. I was just blown away when you said that because I remember thinking, "So, that's what Cleveland looks like" during one scene. Then it went to these grassy fields on the way to the reactor, and I just never saw my City, and I always recognize it when filmed there. :)

I was 13 and saw it at the theatre. Was funny to see Pee-wee Herman in it, and I thought for a kick I would watch it when it was on TV a few years back and it was painful.

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2010 06:50 AM

I haven't seen in it maybe 15 years. I am sure now it would be hard work but, yup, I watched it for Pee Wee too and I always associate that song with him now.

escorpio 03-24-2010 07:04 AM

Ralph Bakshi's "American Pop" is the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen.
