The bombing of Japan was totally different. We had lost a lot of men in fighting Germany and even though we were winning in Asia Japan refused to even flinch. Millions would have died trying to take Japan.

A huge number of Russians died in fighting Germany. Almost half the population I believe. we were not getting much help from our allies. Japan was our problem.

Either way millions would have died. Either us or the Japanese. What would you have done if you had to make that call.

It could be argued that by using the bomb we prevented any future world wars because everyone knew the crazy Americans were not afraid to use the bomb.
