If there was only ONE album left in the world...

Which one would it be?

For me? The Clash - London Calling. If I change my mind I will let you know....

Fletch XXX 10-31-2002 08:50 PM

Misfits - Walk Among Us.

Morgan 10-31-2002 08:51 PM

Walk among us!!! ooh.. ya that would be in my top 5.

Deb 10-31-2002 08:51 PM

Wow, rough choice. Hmmmm, I'd have to say Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon. An oldie, but goodie. :)

Joe Sixpack 10-31-2002 08:52 PM

Either "Abbey Road" or "Revolver".

If you don't know who recorded those two then you should be hung, drawn and quartered.

quiet 10-31-2002 08:56 PM

As far as classic rock goes, I love all the good stuff from Zeppelin to Beatles, Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi, The Who, Marley, BTO, all the good shit....so many more.

But The Doors suck...Pink Floyd is just mediocre. Nothing great about their sound or style.

Ditto and that song isn't great. I'm very conventional when it comes to music. I don't buy CD's that's what the fuckin radio is for.

Man, The Doors are the American face of the psychedelic movement of the 60's and the band was built around Morrison's poetry. I admit that their music might not have been incredibly complex but you can't deny their influence or their unique sound and lyrics.

And Pink Floyd. If you really believe that there is "nothing great about their sound and style" then I truly pity you. NOBODY sounds like Pink Floyd and that is the point. They are 100% original and their sound is out of this world. Unlike The Stones who ripped off virtually everything from The Blues to The Beatles Pink Floyd are truly and unashamedly unique.

It all about originality.

I'm not denying there influence. A lot of blues musicians were influential but I still won't listen to some of them (I like Muddy Waters and John Coltrane...a few others, but not much else).

What makes a group great is more than just originality. It has to sound good.

The first Polka musicians were original but I'll die never listening to much Polka music, not even the original artists of that amazing musical genre.

Dude Jim Morrison and Roger Waters are 2 of the all time great lyricists of ALL time.

Sounds good? David Gilmour is perhaps one of the top 10 guitar players of all time. Anyone who plays can attest to this.

1.Bruce Sprinsteen-Darkness on the Edge of Town or Nebraska
2. about any John Hiatt album.
3. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes ...Take it inside

I am an east coast rock fan...I like the NYC sound.

I play guitar...I used to buy all the Guitar magazines and played using Guitar tablature that they publish at the back of the mags when I was 16. I know Gilmour is a great guitarist and hasn't been credited enough for his work. Still, the music ain't got juice.

Classical and Flaminco guitarists are great at what they do stylistically and technically but I still won't buy a cd of either.

You've got to be the first person I've ever heard say they don't like Pink Floyd. To each his own I guess. Have you ever seen them live?

Your taken this thread to seriously. Nobody could live off one cd forever no matter how much they liked it. You eventualy get sick of it no matter how good you think it is now...

Billy Milano, is that guy still alive?

the stones are about ten times more overrated.. although morrison did manage to rhyme "fire" with "pyre" and "higher" - a cunning linguist

fucking awesome album. classic.

but the idea of picking a single album is a joke. there are so many vast and varied areas of music...

Morgan 10-31-2002 11:11 PM

joke or not, when it comes to the last choice you have to make your final decision! sorry, but its true!

Rochard 10-31-2002 11:11 PM

Boston - Third Stage. Still love that album.

Meatloaf "Bat of Hell" comes to mind as well as Bon Jovi's "New Jersey.

But the one CD I could live with for ever is Dave Matthews Band "Crush". I'm a huge fan.

Funny story..... I know all you fuckers might laught at this, but a few years back at a county fair I got to see Rick Springfield play live. It was free so I went. He's a fucking has been who misses the spotlight; He put on one hell of a show.....
