The war being seen as a reason to get cheap oil is not all it is. Keeping the oil cheap has a greater goal, which is to keep the ideological system in place. By keeping the oil cheap, the economy works well, by working well, the people is happy. The masses are happy. By keeping the masses happy, the people in power can keep your ideological system in place. The autoritarism that is latent in american capitalism can then be accepted by the masses, thinking it's perfectly normal. The oil is just a way to a greater, much more evil goal.
