Well there is a Republican in office right now. There was a Republican Congress for well over a decade. Oil prices are through the roof. Why would it be much better under a Republican? Neither side is going to do squat.

And drilling in this country won't lower the cost of oil much. Look up how the oil markets work and why they are so high right now. And look it up on real economic sites, not some conservative blog written by some wonk who thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old.

By the way even if you lifted the ban TODAY it would be 2018 before the first drop of oil ever came out of the ground/ocean. So how does that help TODAY?

Even in 2018 it won't lower the price of gas significantly because the oil would be just coming out. It would take another 5-10 years before enough oil was coming out to make a dent in prices. So if you really want to lower how much it takes to fuel you car NOW it's pretty simple, get a car that gets better milage than the one you have now. That makes 100X more sense than waiting until 2023 for the prices of gas to drop.

But even those guys kind of suck. I mean Barr pretends to be a libertarian, but his history shows him as an ultra-right wing conservative. Nader is great as a consumer advocate and has done a lot for this country, but I don't really want him running it.

I would actually love to see the day where we have 5-10 guys running that have viable shots at winning. Where the bullshit pandering to party leaders stopped and we had a group of smart guys who threw out their ideas and let everyone decide who they felt was best.

And while I agree with showing the 3rd parties and indies some love, if they ever get any power, the two parties will just make laws making it harder for them to compete. That's what they did after Perot in 1992.
