Well there is a Republican in office right now. There was a Republican Congress for well over a decade. Oil prices are through the roof. Why would it be much better under a Republican? Neither side is going to do squat.
And drilling in this country won't lower the cost of oil much. Look up how the oil markets work and why they are so high right now. And look it up on real economic sites, not some conservative blog written by some wonk who thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old.Comment

Oh wait shit like that has to go through CONGRESS which incase you haven't noticed is run by democrats. So no McCain isn't getting any drilling either. By the way even if you lifted the ban TODAY it would be 2018 before the first drop of oil ever came out of the ground/ocean. So how does that help TODAY?
Even in 2018 it won't lower the price of gas significantly because the oil would be just coming out. It would take another 5-10 years before enough oil was coming out to make a dent in prices. So if you really want to lower how much it takes to fuel you car NOW it's pretty simple, get a car that gets better milage than the one you have now. That makes 100X more sense than waiting until 2023 for the prices of gas to drop.Comment

But even those guys kind of suck. I mean Barr pretends to be a libertarian, but his history shows him as an ultra-right wing conservative. Nader is great as a consumer advocate and has done a lot for this country, but I don't really want him running it.
I would actually love to see the day where we have 5-10 guys running that have viable shots at winning. Where the bullshit pandering to party leaders stopped and we had a group of smart guys who threw out their ideas and let everyone decide who they felt was best.
And while I agree with showing the 3rd parties and indies some love, if they ever get any power, the two parties will just make laws making it harder for them to compete. That's what they did after Perot in 1992.Comment

Look at senator ABERCROMBIE... one of the biggest tree huggers in the country and he finally gets it. He is PRO-DRILLING and PRO NUCLEAR energy. If that guy saw the light, and flip flopped his stance think about it. This country is goig to be so screwed if we do not drill now and develop more nuclear energy now. Bush won with the anti gay marriage vote and if McCain is smart, he can win on the ENERGY issue...

It's just always seemed to me like mixing politics and business isn't a great idea. Everyone is so opinionated these days that the debates are mostly pointless because you'll never change anyone's views. i would not consider myself a right wing nut ball,.... in the span of my voting career i would say my votes are 50 50 dem/rep. or possibly more in the favor of dems. i really vote more along what the person stands for, what their priorities are and what actions they are going to take to address each of these priorities.
Look at the congress.... wouldnt you think energy, healthcare would be more important to them? instead they spent 3 days arguing over flag burning. And only worked 27% of the year. they somehow did not have time to debate healthcare, energy, jobs, economy.
if your getting so upset that i prefer McCain to Obama, why dont u enlighten me on Obama... i didnt cast my vote yet, still got plenty of time to make my final decision before election day.....Comment
